medical records in collaboration with our friends at crispy nuggets blog are happy to reissue a very obscure australian gem from the 1980s. ironing music were a three piece band from brisbane. they originally formed in 1984 as a result of their collective love for new order. human league and eventually jean michel jarre and cabaret voltaire. comprised of bass and electic guitar. yamaha dx-7. melodica and an 808. they recorded a 12- single as their sole outpt in 1985 in a limited run of 250 copies (obviously excruciatingly rare now!). it was recorded in their bedroom studio with at teac 4 track. the video clip for the -hit- shopping bag women was played on several national and local television music shows. they also recorded demos in hopes of landing a lp deal which unfortunately didn t attract any takers at the time. they actually only played 3 gigs and were forced to disband after one of their members fell ill in 1986. the lp presented here included the original 4 track single as well as hand picked demos which nicely congeal to form a well rounded lp documenting the band s brief existence. they can best be described as lo-fi synth pop with an emphasis on excellent pop songs and interesting synth/instrument arrangements. the first track shopping bag women is infectiously catchy and just screams to be worn out in the club. fans of early to mid 80s synth pop and new romantic will fall in love. the tracks have been lovingly remastered by martin bowes at the cage. london. features original reproduction of the front cover painting. presented in a limited edition on 180gram vinyl.

hero wouters is a dutch artist who has been active since 1950. through the years he has been involved in many (music) projects. his work in the field of electronic music ranges from synthpop to experimental music. some people might know him from his collaborations with the legendary pink dots and edward ka-spel. other people might know him from his contributions to the obscure contactdisk vinyl series or his appearance on the legendary dutch ding-dong tape label. featured on this lp is work by hero wouters from 1982. 1984. and 1986. most of the material was written for a dutch film (‘een zaak van leven en dood’) and a theatre play (‘laios’). the music has been (partly) released on cassette on hero’s own label herophone. now it is for the first time available on vinyl. the music has been restored from the original tapes and mastered for vinyl with great care not to loose the original feeling. below you can find soundclips for the tracks but we feel these do not give a really good impression of the record. the music (and the record) have to be heard in total (and as a whole) to be fully experienced and appreciated. we are proud to present this beautiful and simply fantastic music by a dutch artist that deserves more attention. the wonderful cover artwork is a drawing by maaike.

damon wild and david sumner (aka functions) relationship dates back to 1991 at lord michaels future shock. limelight. new york city when damon was running experimental records via northcott productions. at the time. he first saw something in dave and added him to brand x. a record pool run by moneypenny. but their bond is based around a period 5 years later when dave had an apartment above rogue music at 251 west 30th street in midtown. manhattan. it was during this time damon developed him as a synewave artist and released his first ep as function in the fall of 1996 catalog number. sw-24. falling in and out of touch over the years. across continents. the two have somehow remained on the same cosmic path. so its not a coincidence that now damon has turned to dave to release his first album in 13 years. during the time he is reissuing that first synewave ep on recompiled i/ii & ii/ii (a-ton lp02/03). this is where those paths cross again 21 years later. this fall. dave will release cosmic path on infrastructure. the cosmic connection.

black truffle is honoured to present the premier recordings of two recent works by legendary american experimental composer alvin lucier. a friend and contemporary of pioneers like robert ashley. david behrman. gordon mumma. and christian wolff. lucier has been crafting elegant explorations of the behavior of sound in physical space since the 1960s. lucier is perhaps best known for i am sitting in a room (1970). in which he repeatedly re-recorded his own speaking voice being played back into a room until the room’s resonant frequencies entirely obscure the spoken text. beginning in the early 1970s. he has written a remarkable catalogue of instrumental works that focus on phenomena produced by the interference between closely tuned pitches. such as audible beating. often using pure electronic tones produced by oscillators in combination with single instruments.

row goes back to a collecting of field recordings that hirsch took for oerol. an annual theatre festival taking place on the west frisian island of terschelling / nl. the recording was taken aboard the arad. a lifeboat of the dutch rowing team roeiteam ter- schelling recreatie during a training exercise on 25 april 2011. the course stretched from the harbour of west-terschelling out into the wadden sea and back again. the focus is on the coxswain’s commands which resemble a funk singer’s ones and which make the team become one body working their way through the waters.
