originally a heavy metal drummer. bård aasen lødemel aka skatebård. got into techno and rave during the 90s. hailing from a small town called Ørsta on the norwegian west coast. lødemel moved to bergen where he quickly became part of the student town s growing club scene. after handing over a homemade demo to tellé records label boss mikal telle. lødemel got signed to tellé offshoot label tellektro in 2001. his first release under the name of skatebård. a 12- mini album called -skateboarding was a crime (in 1989)- was released in 2002. and skatebård s reputation as an excellent techno/electro producer started to spread beyond norway s borders. since then skatebård has gone on to release on labels such as sex tags mania. radius records. supersoul recordings. keys of life finland. luna flicks. totally as well as his own digitalo enterprises. -skateboarding was a crime (in 1989)- was pressed in a very limited edition and sold out quickly. since then it has been a desired object for record collectors and techno and electro aficionados around the globe. now the time has come to make the mini album available again. something this true masterpiece really deserves.
we have encountered ice dog during one sunny belgrade afternoon while he was chasing what he was calling fish (actually slavic seniors transformed into dolphins and dolphin is not a fish). he might or might not told us the fore-coming story: a man complains of being hungry. all the time. dogs it seems are never hungry. so the man decides to become a dog. to be a dog one must walk on all fours. the hero decides to wear shoes on his hands only to discover that there is no hand left to tie the laces on the fourth shoe. what does a shoe-shod dog tie laces with? its mouth. organ by organ the man becomes a dog. one lace at a time his record transformed us into a new type of misunderstood creatures. most of the tracks are surprisingly fast and playable yet broken while others are groovy however noisy. i am pretty sure you havent heard anything like it before. but what do i know i’m a fish.

reless return to follow up on there first official release which was entitled cycle. out on world talk records that included a bold yet hazy remix from avant techno engineer shlomo.this time their foot firmly in the the mud. is a solid 4 tracks ep entitled. circuitry merging classic techno components which they say focuses on creating analogically modified melodic organisms. the eponymous title track circuitry brings the listener into a field of near moving stabs synths. pulsing through out the persistent motor rhythm. the follow up seed germinates a melodious and deep sequence to sense growth of emotions into the listeners body. reless stand by their motto of always repeating the essential. which can be heard strikingly through out limitation bringing us toward an end of an endlessly metallic grain storage silo. to conclude. the hotly tipped swedish producer kuf (head of arsenik records) pulls apart the harshly stark limitation exploring a rework focusing on the frustrations and jittering nervous pathways of the listener speaking directly to the frontal lobe his job to reside purely at the edge of our mental limitations.

duat (pronounced do-aht) was the realm of the dead in ancient egyptian mythology. the deity osiris was believed to be the lord of the underworld since he personified rebirth and life after death. being the first mummy as depicted in the osiris myth.the underworld was also the residence of various other gods along with osiris. the duat was the region through which the sun god re traveled from west to east each night. and it was where he battled apep. who embodied the primordial chaos which the sun had to defeat in order to rise each morning and bring order back to the earth. it was also the place where peoples souls went after death for judgement. though that was not the full extent of the afterlife. burial chambers formed touching-points between the mundane world and the duat. and the akh. the effectiveness of the dead. could use tombs to travel back and forth from the duat. duat (or duatrecords) is a label by amin fallaha and r100.

optimo music don’t generally do limited edition releases but when the golden filter did these extra mixes of “end of times”. the a1 track off their recent ep we thought they were too good to remain in the digital domain so have pressed up a small run of 12” singles aimed specifically at djs. the original single version is a future synth classic. these new dub versions take it to the dancefloor and have been tried and tested around the world over the last few months. they are considerably extended. dubbed out and add extra dynamics & ecstatic synth power with hints of the original vocal. there is a slo mo version at 103 bpm and a faster version at 118bpm which means the track should work any time from warm up to peak set. there is also a drone-apella version included too.

stuttgart based producer detmolt returns to underyourskin records for his second ep. ‘memories’. on the label this year. the ep’s name giving track is a downtempo synth led pleasant fellow accompanying its listener through the different seasons of the year that are reflected by the various changes of chords within the track that still manage to connected each change in harmony. the ep’s second track. ‘madlen’ is also dedicated to the label’s downtempo sound and starts off with an detailed enriched synth before a nodding bass sets in and defines the groove and pace of the track. in the course of the track the catchy synth is loosend and supported by piano chords as well as diverse soundscapes in the same tonality. ‘kaos’ hits off strong with a lead synth that changes within the course of the track and is subbed by different chords in the treble and bass frequencies to spread its atmospheric soundscapes on all possible musical levels. the ep’s last track comes from paul valentin who remixes ‘madlen’. paul’s approach highlights the given synthchords which are worked into dreamy yet fordward going soundscapes that still keep the original’s downtempo vibe but makes you lose your mind higher spheres.
