the next release on leading french label zone is a very special one indeed from long time friend of the label and pioneering electro figure kittin. the artist formerly known as miss kittin. her standout original comes with an equally impressive remix from truncate. a long time stalwart of the electroclash scene who has put out many seminal singles. kittin has famously collaborated with the hacker and felix da housecat and mixed up new wave and techno in arresting new ways for decades. her albums have always been hailed as hugely accomplished and the prolific and innovative frenchwoman has worked with numerous top labels. now back once more in 2018 with her first solo single in some time. she is in fine form. her offering here. ‘eacid’. is a timeless piece of deep techno with brain melting bass and twinkling yet menacing keys. her own vocals are twisted and chopped up into wordless forms that add layers of intrigue and the whole thing is brilliantly broody. a breakdown at the mid point allows you to catch your breath as her voice refracts round the airwaves. then the icy hi hats and rumbling drums and bass land again with subtly uplifting. light emitting chords rising in the background. all in all. this is one of kittin’s most special and evocative tracks of recent times. remixing is truncate. the deep techno artist who runs a label of the same name and has released his killer wares on 50weapons. his version is more wild and flailing. with the keys becoming more manic. the drums darting about all over the place and the voice becoming more paranoid and trippy.

this one has been a long time coming. great 12”s never get shelved at lddlm. time is not the essence. benedikt frey has been part of the extended family since his remix of car’s idle eyes and we crossed paths a few times at robert johnson in frankfurt. init. his project with his other half nadia d’alò. has seen releases on neighbours such as hivern or correspondant. our door was naturally open to their pretty personal brand of “off-kilter techno” as ra says. stereometric is almost a definition of init’s acid mind. failing their own tricks. heavy atmosphere and unusual restraint. nuts is almost an instrumental extension of the title track. when your head finally hit that window pane. wheels slows the rush down. wandering on an imaginary khyber pass. this is only deception though. mindwork being a real exercise in post-goa trance. hope you enjoy the trip. see you after the summer.
with new track warschauerstrasse . claudio ricci has created an expansive seven minute workout of twisted synths and deep house drums. the first remix comes from long time techno heavyweight timo maas and the prolific and inventive basti grub. their singular remix speeds up the original and layers in fluttering toms and percussive sounds as well as broad. groaning synths and the distant sound of a bustling city at rush hour. sudam label boss and ibiza based artist kintar flips the track into something spacious and haunting. eerie keys and sweeping synths keep you on edge as the rubbery techno groove rolls on into the night. bulgarian based metodi hristov loves to experiment and has a distinctive techno style that gains support from the likes of richie hawtin. carl cox and adam beyer. in his hands the track becomes a peak time tech banger.

coming back for another round after his first ep for figure last summer. shlomi aber continues to explore different avenues of his multi-faceted sound. tying it all up in a nicely rounded package. setting the pace is driving opening track whistler. the producer showcasing his ability to craft something big but undoubtedly refined. he then lets old school drums cruise along gentle sways of washed out ambience. giving the deep heads something to really get into… back with more techno on the b-side. this time in true figure-style: lean. sharp. and utterly effective penetrate the system is sure to leave its mark and comes complete with an extended. separate intro. making for quite an experience. staying atmospheric to the end. aber chooses to step out in half-time. taking cues from dubstep as hollowed kicks carve out an endless tunnel that leads only ever deeper down the rabbit hole.

lord of the isles four-track “infras” ep. on the barcelona imprint lone romantic. demonstrates macdonald’s continued mastery of tone and timbre. mood and groove. the title track kicks off by intertwining stringed synthtopia with an acidic staccato grounded in a rich low-end pulse. “w5 alpha” continues the all-enveloping warmth of “infras” base layer with a deliciously disparate palate of sounds. driven by a celestial arpeggio and a dusty collage of breaks. the b-side sets the listener loose in a garden of synthetic vines that pierce the long-decay smothering of bass with “q-bit”. a track that maintains equal kinship with the bouncing exploration of a dance floor as with the cool tones and discrete resolutions of an henri rousseau painting. “three times eleven” reads as a tribute to macdonald’s early fascination with john carpenter and vangelis soundtracks. combining emotive synth arpeggios and cyborg vocal washes in a fly-by depiction of an eerie and beautiful sonic landscape.

anyone who’s followed maurice aymard’s galaktika label over the years will be all too aware of the imprint’s leaning toward eclectic sounds. it’s an ethos that mirrored in the work of aymard himself and regardless of whether he’s turning his hand to tech house sounds or more straight-up techno jams. his is a way of working that’s endeared him to many over the years. his latest is a case in point. the 75th chapter in the galaktika discography. the into the night ep serves up an array of sounds that are enticing as they are upbeat and intriguing. getting us underway is the sounds of the title track. an unfurling beast of a track that’s loaded with dramatic tension throughout. it’s an eerie cut that’s characterised by its clever bells and some incessant percussion. a full on track that’s not to be handled lightly. it’s repetitive nature and sporadic vocal charms is indicative of levon vincent at his best. ‘shinning’. a more progressive cut. follows after. another track that’s notable for the suspense that lingers throughout. it serves up a nice stylistic alternative to what’s arrived before. aymard then goes all out on the frankly astounding sounds of ‘rage’. a propulsive gem of the type that sees the producer greatly rewarded for trying something that bit different. it’s a special sort of track that takes on various tones throughout but always stays captivating. seeing us out soon after is eduardo de la calle’s remix of the latter. the cadenza man is well versed in all things deep and dextrous. and his interpretation serves up a fitting example of his talents. although it starts on a melodic tip. it too soon brings the listener on a thoroughly captivating but unexpected journey. much like the rest of this ep. de la calle’s remix is full of surprises from the off.

allfeelings is releasing a 12- in dedication to his love for early dub techno coming out of berlin. the idea behind the title “untitled” is to give the listeners more space to interpret the tracks themselves rather than being distracted with any track names. as allfeelings music label is about the amalgamation of sounds and rhythms to bring about a visceral experience. this can be observed in the african inspired percussion on side a and the subtle changes and movement it has throughout its length. side b focuses more on easy listening with sounds and dry textures meandering slowly demanding the listener’s attention at all times. the other great thing about this record is it works really well pitched down which can be used to great effect during warm ups and after hours. this release has the support from ario and o:utlier from astral industries.

ja:ck is back to showcase his first solo release on cocoon recordings. tuscany smells of pines and good food. the sea spoils you just like good wine and lots of sun. for some time now we here at cocoon have been connecting with tuscany through the legendary cocoon events at the tini soundgarden in cecina and since last year segnore ja:ck has also joined our tuscany vision. following on from his track “naturra” on the 10″..... with joel mull (2017). we’re proud to present two new tracks by the tuscan artist. which once again possess their very own charm. dry and grainy. they still come across housey and sexy and to put us properly in the picture. ja:ck’s called the release “paprika” - short and crisp. red hot and spicy - that’s alright with us! listen up as we bring the tuscany vibes to the festivals and to ibiza this summer. signore e signori: ecco il tuo uomo!
multi-talent joyce muniz is definitely one to look out for. initially starting her career as a vocalist. she now took over the global house music scene within no time as a deejay and producer as well. exhibiting her talent with previous releases. its not surprising that shes on the roster of prestigous labels such as exploited records and 20/20 vision recordings. next year she will release her single toxic people on international deejay gigolo records featuring the singer. songwriter and producer demetr1us. toxic people is a vibrant and raw sounding electro house cut featuring grimy synths and vocals. that lend the track a cold and distant atmosphere. the artwork for toxic people was created by leipzig-based artist silvia trost. whose forth lies in oil and acrylic paintings. she now frequently collaborates with glitch art artists and loves to mix materials and techniques. both analogue and digital. the b-side dreamz is another great production by joyce muniz. the playful groove and eclectic ambient makes it a cool package.

2x12" Vinyl UK07.07.18
ltd copies. screen printed sleeve by al white & house of traps. this marks the first new vinyl release from echospace detroit this year with all the content lovingly re-mastered in echospace. detroit. usa & cut @ deepgrooves. an unreleased classic from the vaults emerges with newly remastered content from radius s celebrated -obsolete machines- double album & two of the most epic creations featured on the -interpolation tapes- cd series. available for the first time ever on vinyl format. many of the songs featured in this project were initially sent to rod modell & mike schommer shortly after they launched their brilliant deepchord label in 2001. (recorded from 1993-2000) they were incredibly kind in saying it was the best demo they had ever heard and passed it on to octal records for release. sadly. that didn t materialize and since then these masters have been collecting dust in our cassette rack for nearly 20 years now. we ve spent months doing our best to restore the old tapes from our tascam 688. an 8 track cassette recorder purchased and abused since 1992 and to our ears still sounds quite impressive even by modern standards. we ve had nearly every component replaced and re-calibrated to bring this obsolete machine back to life. it s been a truly nostalgic experience re-visiting and redesigning these masters. we truly hope you enjoy reliving these magical times of music. very inspired by all that was happening in those years. there was just something in the air. an undeniable energy. long may it live on..
the new talented italian producers sibling and the russian artist heavenchord kicking it off with lonesome landscape ep on fauxpas musik. an emotional piece of late night atmosphere dub techno music full of analogue warmth and heart-warming depth. vinyl tastes better…
