rob belleville is a producer from the netherlands. his music can be found in the same space as producers such as arne weinberg, microworld, sean deason and drivetrain. he is know for moving between ambient electronica and atmospheric techno sounds, always warm and well produced. this release is no different, as here we have two very special tracks with the same integrity as anything rob has written in the past. on the a side we ve got implacable force which features a driving techno foundation and washy synths, interwoven for perfect headspace. the second track in is sungazing, which takes you into a more lazy groove with swirling, warm pads and more good drum programming. the b side features rise n shine and sands of time, both blurring the line between deep house and techno, with a fine balance between the melodic textures and tech house percussion. if you like atmospheric, melodic textures and quality music in general, this one is for you.
vinyl only! for the 3rd release, we are more than happy to welcome the legendary john tejada alongside his forever partner in crime arian leviste. we asked this special duo to dig in their archives and heres what they delivered! 4 old school flavoured bomb tracks!
goldbrick records third release comes from irish duo ringolevio. made over the course of a few months in various rooms around dublin, the record sways from playful electro to straight up jams with a few emotions in between. as more and more young people can’t afford to live in dublin city, ringolevio has some advice: eat your landlord, stone the dáil, defecate in the banks, moon the dup, hammer neo-liberalism, repeal the fuck out of the eighth, vandalise the donut shops.
a californian psychedelic surf on a wave that breathes dream-pop. a desire to fly above the himalaya mountains and go down the andes in summer toboggan. with the promising release of their debut ep -the world is in your hands-, there is a wave not to be missed for any good self-respecting surfer.-
no need to introduce makcim and levi, the two talented amsterdam based producers. a massive dancefloor burner 12inch, heavily played by lazare and his mandar mates, oscillat records is back!
nice price deal !!! the new ep from montreal/berlin based label parages music is a collection of deep and percussive jams from jonattan levingstone. a well balanced ep, where the groove is constent with diverse influences from afro elements, dub techno and detroit house. on the flip side,>billie< is a deep house stunner with detroit style keyboards, subtle tribal elements and >secret, not so secret< soulfull vocal sample that will get stuck in your head for hours ... contributing to the ep, is canadian house prodigy, the mole, working a robotic and groovy remix of >billie<.
having already earned his balearic stripes some time ago, as one of the resident djs at we love. at space in ibiza, ian blevins has since relocated to berlin, and has been immersing himself in the esoteric vibes of the city. on the strength of his latest ep on futureboogie, this is clearly a good thing, as the round trip ep is laden with the deep magical vibes that have also shaped his recent releases on labels like banoffe pies, not an animal records, blind jacks journey and esp institute. on round trip, an abundance of driving, arpeggiated synthesizers weave around sparse yet sturdy drumbeats, as thick pads rise and fall in dramatic fashion. panthera krause (permanent vacation/riotvan/lobster theremin) is on board for the remix of round trip, re-shaping the original into a merry, space organ led, tribal dance, with a splash of garage house vibes that soon become immersed in its own synth heaven, its a cracking remix from the leipzig based producer. on rolands rat, blevins keeps things tight with soaring strings, organ stabs a strolling bassline for a quality jam, whilst can you count my dream? is a dense, and cinematic slab of transcendental dance, an almost claustrophobic atmosphere only intensifies the drama and delivers the heat that seals this superb ep from blevins.
yo! good music for strange places. back from another world, ready to be stared shocked/amazed at. djs like dixon, jackmaster or tale of us will probably never know about it. ask for more information. ask for yo!
with lomdit ep we have arrived at levi verspeeks 3rd solo record. three times a charm and so it will be when it crashes onto the dancefloor with tech triumph tamtam named after an unknown friend. 2nd track octo s slick, oozing groove sees right through you and pillages the floor with metal percussion. no later than 6 and a half minutes after you will be met by god s choir singing it s chorus: we smell sausage. watch out that you don t get dipped by that foxy break halfway through! knock knock. who s there? hmmm. hmmm who? hmmm, the last track on lomdit, and it knocks!
ian blevins has been busy making a name for himself on esp institute and futureboogie, but now he comes to not an animal with a slightly different approach that still speaks to the skills the upstart producer has in his sonic arsenal. -the birds- is a focused, steady-tracking cut for the deeper end of the night, but there s some serious weight in those drums and the heavily processed vocal snippets pack plenty of malaise. man power then step up with a -tropical bastard- remix of the original, cracking the curtains to allow a little light into the mix but stopping short of over-cooking the mood. -locate yourself- on the flip finds blevins in tracky techno mode, and it turns out it s a style he can nail just as easily as the more organic tones he s known for.
makcim has been a standard-bearer for reduced house music in amsterdam for around a decade now. as a resident dj he has been a cornerstone of the vbx brand since their early days. in the past years he has found his footing in the studio as well. together with studio partner levi verspeek he forms a creative tandem that has been outputting certified dance floor heat on quality labels such as raum, lhr and apollonia. against this backdrop its not hard to imagine why they were invited to create the third installment for the vbx label. the pair delivered a 3 tracker showcasing their brand of sultry and irresistibly groovy house music. this one is guaranteed to shake up dance floors around the world. dont miss out and snatch up a copy before they are gone...
the playground is proud to present it’s 10th release by john tejada & arian leviste, two long standing & revered american figures who have been producing together for over 2 decades. tejadas signature sound mixed with levistes musical background makes them a strong team. they deliver a well rounded four track ep that spans from the minimal sounds of empathy for sensors to the driving energy in -rock the transport .
ltd 2017 repress !! maxim donskoi and levi verspeek are both hailing from amsterdam. they bonded over their mutual love for intricate and layered house music and started producing tracks together under their makcim and levi moniker. soon they found out that makcims strong musical vision and levis productional finesse make for a combatant combination of ideals that resulted in the daan de pup ep
mohammed al harbiti, adam stromstedt and flord king s lyssna records is now on its third release, and the label is beginning to pick up jus the right sort of momentum to make a impact on the vast, bottomless pit that is the deep house scene. what you need to be able to do that is plenty of style and a fresh way of constructing 4/4 patterns, something which levi verspeek has clearly nailed on the opening 256. peshka s miracle is also refreshingly off-kilter, meandering its loose drums over a hazy bed of washed-up sonics, while flord king s steff off uses the minimal formula to deliver its mesmerising glow, and adam stromstedts hm 2016 is probably the best example of traditional deep house that we ve heard since the close of that treacherous 2016. quality house escapades.
jackie is a biographical film from chilean director pablo larraín. starring natalie portman (black swan) in the title role, the movie follows jacqueline kennedy from the days when she was first lady of the white house to the aftermath of the assassination of john f. kennedy. critically lauded since its debut at the venice film festival where it won the best screenplay award, jackie also received the platform prize at the toronto international film festival and is a heavy favorite going into awards season.
the score to jackie was composed by experimental british musician mica levi, best known for her ethereal score to 2013’s sleeper hit under the skin. mournful and eerie with a touch of the surreal, levi has delivered an unmistakable musical tapestry every bit as iconic as jackie o herself.
jackie is getting the vinyl treatment. the mastered-for-vinyl score is pressed on 180 gram black vinyl and housed in a heavy stock euro sleeve featuring black-and-white artwork of jackie. a download card containing a digital version of the album is also included.
john tejada and arian leviste are back on areal after their much celebrated release “reactance“. these guys are working for 25 years together meeting up weekly in the studio to try new things. they say themselves that it is their longest and most special collaboration. they use mainly hardware with an old school mind set that comes more from the early 80s nyc hip hop culture than anything else. early pioneers misusing gear and making the best of their limitations. their newest release “hysteresis“ comes along strongly functional for the club.
from the leath-meister: the limited especial specials continues with 4 remixes of jaakko eino kalevi s dreamzone ep. featuring a heavy weight line up of tom noble, heatsick, peaking lights and vezurro, this is an all-bases-covered masterclass is taking jaakko s pop leanings and giving them some boogie, dub and italo sparkle. hot on the heels of the steaua de mare remixes comes 4 retakes of jaakko eino kalevi s idiosyncratic pop stylings. licensed from weird world records, this sees the multi-instrumentalists original dreamzone ep handed over for readjustment. the up, up boogie vibes of tom nobles calling card create his best remix to take. no fun maybe jaakko s ladies love hymn, but with tom s distinctive never ending bass and hats loops moving hips, a keys solo and vocal interplay ensure sublime perfection. next steven warwick s superb heatsick project implants his twisted casio-rawness in to jaakkos world, marrying memories ghostly vocals into a mix of afro-clipped beats and lo-fi melody that just fits. so happy to finally welcome in friends, family and inspiration, peaking lights in to the family. aaron and indra s uplifting dub love comes alive in this remix, with live bass grooves, vibing keys and jaakko s unique vocal riding-a-riddim all night long. to close up and coming vezurro return to no fun, providing an italo love ode that can only move hearts into a true rimini 84 summer affair. cant you see that i m dancing?
asher levitas is perhaps best known as part of old apparatus, the acclaimed and enigmatic london experimental outfit. over the last few years he has featured on releases for labels including deep medi, houndstooth and left blank as ‘saa’ with the singer linn carin dirdal.
‘lit harness’, his first solo album, started forming as a project in 2015 alongside the artist and writer michael crowe who worked on the live a/v show while asher created the music with vocalist marina elderton (from the ethereal psych band kull) who features on the tracks.
ian blevins is the keeper of the jewel in the crown. this is his second offering for the esp institute. picking up right where we left off, side a unleashes another explosive big room belter with resume a driving rhythmic monster that takes advantage of the whips and cracks in ian’s drum machine arsenal, while warm chords lay a foundation for a quirky lead melody and rubbery pulse to dance upon. akin to hannibal, blevins esp institute debut in 2015, the arrangement here toys with us before revealing the true guts of the track—this time characterized halfway through by a punctuating gangster piano hook. on side b, poor old head utilizes ian’s signature drum styling we’ve come to adore, but here he establishes swells of melancholy via bending notes that meow and purr, beautifully ebbing and flowing though an array of incongruous dial tones and bells—shakey and barely out of sync, yet cradling a loosely drawn chord progression. these two songs will smack you up before they rub you down.
with the eleventh installment in the saft series in place, the label has already celebrated their landmark tenth release. for the new record, the label has some adventurous sampling going on by the likes of ian blevins and ny*ak.
ian blevins is from england but hes quite the dude. this is his first offering for the esp institute. on side a, meet the happy beast named hannibal, a big room tune that ticks every box your heart may desire bone dry drum production, atmospheric arpeggios, soaring strings and pads, a beautifully sweeping bass progression and an overall sense of euphoria goosebumps guaranteed. on side b, welcome aunt poly cools us down a little bit stripping back the instrumentation, minimizing any superfluous effects, and layering a sparse bassline and droning synths over a laidback 808 all to a relaxed tempo. blevins debut proves that from the right point of view, familiar elements and motifs can take on a new life whilst reminding us just how the rave can feel. these two songs will increase your serotonin levels.

time for some double dutch action with apollonia’s latest release, which comes courtesy of makcim & levi. the twosome have already been picking up steam in their native holland, playing at many of the country’s best-known clubs over the last few years, establishing themselves as selectors in a class of their own. and their prowess as djs is equal to their talents as producers, with their very first ep appearing on raum musik and finding its way into apollonia’s sets. now they’ve got together once again to produce their second ep just for the apollonia guys…the ‘more lettuce’ ep fits perfectly into the french label’s sound ethic, emitting a dark groovy energy throughout. for starters we have ‘more lettuce’, a gritty tech-driven monster on a mission. with its gravely percussion and air-raid siren-esque effects this is a surefire dance floor killer… listen out for the switch of pace, class. this is followed by ‘tegel’, presumably named after the airport in berlin. with this we get a kind of dingy berlin vibe, morose, grey yet ingrained with a bouncing energy that you just can’t help but bop your head to. on the flip side ‘thaiman’ injects a slightly odd feel to the ep with warped, muted sounds meandering around a subtle bassline. finally, makcim & levi close up the ep with ‘dope erwt’ another roller that will enchant the dance floor from the start, building into a bright, airy breakdown before continuing in its somber yet groovy manner.
it was a hot summer day, no clouds in the big blue sky, as i suddenly got up to return my friends basketball after not returning it for more then 10 years
our last ep of the year is a special one as it marks one year of releasing records for keep it zen so we called on ian blevins along with remixes from amsterdams frits wentink and berlins nick beringer to end our year on a high. ian blevins is an influential name in the underground house scene and was mentioned by resident advisor as one of ibizas most talented residents. years of passionately listening to and searching for music, both new and old, has seen ians style mature which has helped shape his own productions and his mysterious duo al gobi.
part-time tram driver and full-time disco disciple, helsinkis jaakko eino kalevi catalyzses street smart funk into heat stroke for yin yang theatre, his new ep on beats in space records.
the vinyl release includes a download code.
our ninth release, hans ep, consisting of four steady beats, will compile our debut collaboration with young, amsterdam-based producer levi verspeek. hatching along for the ride is vadim svoboda, bringing a solid remix to the table. vinyl only, 180 gram.
adepth audios 8th release is a collaboration between detroits sean deason and dutchman rob belleville. needing little introduction, sean is the owner of respected detroit label matrix records, and the mastermind behind much acclaimed electronic music. robs reputation for relaxing and understated techno is growing with each of his releases. the track >halogen< is a stomper reminiscent of seans classic matrix releases. robs remix has a more electronic feel with wonderful breaks. where you belong is hypnotic music that evolves and lingers. seans interpretation of this track is a mover with all the detroit goodness youd expect. a future classic.
big with erol alkan, gerd janson, brontosaurus, axel boman... jaakko eino kalevi following up his well recieved album >modern life< with the >chamber of love ep<. its a bit unusual i have to admit, but i can ensure you, you will enjoy it. the b-side features remixes by sling & samo and >shes the line mix< will do some serious damage on the dancefloor
murmurs main label returns after more than a years absence with an artist who has undergone something of a transformation of late with a future release set for the revitalised and highly revered >classic< label, marc ashken eschews the more stripped down, minimal beats of past releases to bring together a more phatter, housier sound in collaboration with fabio teti on >don do dat< and floyd lavine on flip side track >do dat<. >don do dat< is s chunky house main room house groover and will no doubt be a key feature in many a djs box over the coming months. flip for the >anonym< remix of >do dat< for a techier workout whilst the original version rounds off the package with an altogether more uplifting jaunt
whatpeopleplay reels in another biggie for their second release: >western starland< is surely one of the signature tunes by tech-funk luminary john tejada and his long-time collaborateur ariane leviste. originally released in 2001 on his palette imprint this is one of those tunes that never leave the crates of many djs and if you have been dancing anywhere in the last 10 years you will surely instantly recognize those synthetic string chords. tejada himself gets busy here and revamps the also included original with a brand-new 2011 mix: the original signature elements are right there from the start but fused with a beefy house beat, a new bassline, a hissing soul organ and lifted to the next plateau by thundering staccato chords in a classic detroit style. the flip holds the glorious original plus the not any less brilliant john tejada vip mix from 2003.
FALLIN MASONRY / THE BETTER LIFE REMIXES (STIMMING RMXS)
12 Inch 26.07.10
to celebrate georgs longplayer release >everything must change< bbe brings you a fresh dancefloor remix of falling masonry courtesy of martin stimming. minimal bliss! due to the immense success of georgs >the better life< remixes on several digital platforms, we decided to press another limited run of dancefloor tunes.
nice price deal !!! 8 years after his first vinyl release georg levin can already be described as a long-time yet unlikely member of berlins electronic music scene. with both his solo project and his production outfit wahoo he is definitely too much on the soulful side to be a typical representative of the techno and rock sound the city is known for. however, it may be this supposedly alien surrounding that gives his compositions and productions a distinctive blend. to his credit georg also had a no.1 on traxsource in late 2009 as a precursor to the release of this, his second album album and debut for bbe.
finally, the long wait is over! we are proud to present the first solo effort by leviste and its been worth the wait. three ultra varied tracks starting with the driving drums and bassline of >senioritis<. >better get used to it< shows off levistes melodic abilities with a beautiful melancholic epic. these first two songs really show what an important role leviste has played in the duos productions over the years. >change the station< rounds things out with a bit of modular synth experimentation over a jacking rhythm track.
rob bellevilles 4 track ep for adepth audio is his first vinyl release, following previous releases on the schall netlabel and paul macs digital label sulamuse. the 3 original synth-driven tracks on this ep are a perfect example of robs capability to produce epic-sounding tracks which are deep, soulful, energetic, and dancefloor-friendly.
german techno producer arne weinberg chose to remix the title track sounds of introspection and has delivered a version with a perfect blend of the original tracks main elements and his own beloved signature sound.
palette recordings celebrates its 13 year anniversary with a release by the duo that started it all for the label. no giant mix compilation or collection of remixes, just another example of what has built the foundation of palette over the last 13 years. john tejada & arian leviste have been collaborating for over 18 years now. with this release the duo in a way come full circle, combining some of their oldest production techniques with newer ones. its been a long road for these 2 seeing styles and trends change, equipment and technology come and go over the years, but what has remained a constant is their vision of electronic music. >messenger< with its subtle intro of modular synths and rhythmic pads breaks out of its sinister drop full force into a multi dimensional crowd pleaser. the stabs continue to build energy while layered drum programming and modulating synth lines escalate the tracks energy. on the flip, >observer< continues with a fierce pace that harkens back to the days of palette 4, combining vintage synth stabs and drum machines recreating that classic vibe which is gaining such momentum again these days. the difference here is these guys were around at the time already releasing music that would garner them such high acclaim over the years.
after 17 years of working together, tejada & leviste are back in the studio again putting their modular synths to good work. m tracks (m as in modular) features 4 analog workouts in varying styles. m track 1 features a melodic deep, yet driving track reminiscent of the duos best known work. m track 2 and 3 showcase a trackier sound focusing on basic elements while m track 4 turns in a much more experimental direction. the approach to this ep was a very fun, hands on process. analog sequencers are used to drive the various modular synths and their components. this process allowed for a more organic feel as the unstable electronics change over time as well as the manual changing of parameters over time. systems used include doepfer and frostwave sequencers, and modular systems consisting of cwejman, doepfer, harvestman and bananalogue modules. analog drum machines aided in the rhythms, however m track 3 was generated from pure modular hardware including the drums.
over the past few years john tejada has been splitting his time working with long time collaborator arian leviste and more recent collaborator justin maxwell. why not combine all 3? palette all-stars is just that. a collaboration between the 3 main palette artists, each (tejada, leviste and maxwell) playing a particular role in each song. from the ep opener, >after school special< you get a sense of the trio each working on a particular element. tejada’s driving drums, maxwell’s modular synth work, and leviste’s bassline elements sculpt a driving track with a classic feel. >the pilot< features leviste’s smooth melodic synth work while maxwell processes through the modular and tejada privides the dubby beats. the ep finisher >downtown hotel< features a mad maxwell modular freakout and driving 808 s
first outing by new french label!! alevia is produced by david parmentier aka bobcat & pierre rougerie aka pit - both djs and producers!! for their first experience they chose 3 traxx from their live p.a....
three tracks pulled from john tejadas & arian levistes current live set. >lost in thought< will remind many of tejadas smash hit >end of it all<, with its strong drums, sweet melodies and positive emotions. on the flip >forbidden planet< is a mysterious detroit flavored track with dark chords and classic build ups. >half live< finishes off the ep with a bit more shuffle and more of the duos signature synth work
supports from jazzanova, alex attias, michael ruetten, gilles peterson, rainer trueby, kyoto jazz massive, shuya okino, hiroko uchida, kenji sakajiri, dj kawasaki, tsuyo and taro kesen.
this v/a release contains 2 tracks of mark du mosch, the space house meister from rotterdam, and 2 high-energy italo influenced electro tracks by the finnish hero mauno kalevi. only 500 white label with labelstamp copies available
it took a good one and a half years to see these two gentlemen reunite again. pro s may know why. you can only create so much quality work that it s good to take some time off now and then to get back on it with refreshed senses, new gear and new ideas. this 3 tracker is the start of a string of new 12s and simply >multiplies< everything good in john and arian s music. the motion, the funk, the accurate timing, the control, the tension, the groove, the deepness, the classic techno-ness, and the oh my goodness< kick assivity! :) check out the ultra intense, sturdy >multiplier,< a hard rocking deep dark tune layered with modular synth madness. flip to the b for >mathemagician,< the >mono on mono< update youve been waiting for. closing out the single, another analog scorcher >synthescheizer< does it s damage with 2 ms-20s side by side. no plug ins on this release, just good old dirty hardware... already support from anja schneider , karotte... and of course myself too...
after a short break we return through mishel a, our young gun from russia, stepping up to take the reins for entity 004 with groove and swing. long standing friend of the label and all-round groove machine levi verspeek takes things to the next level with his remix of shake.
