die produktionen von bruno pronsato wirken oft sehr raffiniert, für ein beratenes publikum fast avantgardistisch und haben einen großen teil der techno-minimalisten der letzten zwei jahrzehnte beeinflusst.
after dwnstrs ep, la clap is going to lead the way elsewhere, and that means the third release from suciu – altundeva ep. a new destination, filled with romanian origins. distorted sounds, banging kicks, precise claps and mysterious atmospheres. altundeva is a flowering seed in the dark minimal field, remixed by the talented bruno pronsato offering us an elegant and trippy interpretation. stay clap
bruno pronsato returns with his new album, a face wasted on the theatre, written & produced in collaboration with the israeli musician, yonatan levi.
pronsato and levi have been collaborating intermittently since 2014, with levi adding bass guitar to tracks on both pronsato’s us drag lp from last year and 2016’s ndf ep, cruel is the color, as well as contrabass on a track on pronsato’s archangel lp from 2014.
written in the afternoons and between two different studios in berlin’s prenzlauer berg, the album spans eight tracks, with yonatan levi playing on bass guitar on six of them. it also features guest appearances by downtown composer/producer peter gordon and israeli saxophonist yonatan yudkowitz on “bring me a kill.”
CERULEAN REMIXES (LUCIANO, MOFFA X TROXLER, BRUNO PRONSATO & CLOVIS REMIXES)
12" Vinyl UK23.05.18
2017 saw cesar merveille & ryan crosson deliver their second long player in the shape of cerulean, drawing on their modern classical, jazz, ambient and abstract influences to create yet another unique listen featuring collaborations with a classical pianist, trumpet, guitar and double bass players. here we see those original parts eschewed into something entirely fresh from friends and close associates of the duo. leading on the release is cadenza boss lucianos sous le sol interpretation of arp, which twists and turns through the hypnotic chimes and emotive piano chords of the original whilst stirring in luciens signature modulating and intricately evolving rhythmic style. following is a collaborative rework from new yorks phil moffa and seth troxler which employs ethereal synth drones and stuttering vocal cuts alongside a bumpy percussive drive and pulsating subs. perlons bruno pronsato steps up next to remix even tides, delivering his typically raw and emotive style via glitched out, mind-bending percussion, elongated bass drones and cleverly reshaped cuts of the originals cinematic elements. l.as clovis then closes the package with his remix of nordic bummers, employing shuffled hats, lumpy subs and crunchy claps at its core whilst horn swells and aiy atmospherics ebb and flow throughout.
bruno pronsato returns with his first new artist album in 6 years. entitled us drag, it’s the follow-up to 2011’s critically acclaimed lovers do— lauded by pitchfork as a “striking and massive statement,” and decorated with a 4.5/5 rating by resident advisor. the new record, which finds the ex-punk rock drummer exploring dense, interlocking rhythms and unorthodox tuning systems, was recorded in berlin during the second half of 2016, and features a collaboration with liars’ frontman angus andrew. after the vast, complex arrangements of his previous albums, the 9 recordings on us drag are relatively more upfront and direct, with a particular focus on bells, tuned percussion and the sequential circuits six-trak synthesizer (used to create many of the album’s synth parts). pronsato’s ongoing collaboration with yonatan levi continues, with the israeli bassist appearing on the album’s second track
gera taraman is a ukrainian producer and designer who elegantly combines ultramodern sound design with burning grooves. raised in a family of music teachers, he chose another musical path with the help of the autechre, eno and ricardo villalobos records which determined the direction of his tech house and techno experiments. his absolutely beautiful analog recordings have a jazzy touch, excellent development of ideas, never ending melodies and chord progressions etc. >claws sharp< and >purpur< were produced in the ukrainian part of the carpathian mountains - at the very heart of nature results in an unconventionalmusicality that we miss in dance music these days. as for remixes, we have chosen the brilliant bruno pronsato and fumiya tanaka to skillfully remix gera s production. as a result, this synergy brings you four diverse, intelligent, philharmonic and minimalistic tracks.
bar musica is a brand new label that promises to inject plenty of charm and originality into the underground house and techno world. the first release kicked up quite a storm from label owner bartolomeo, and the second release features a trio of great originals by j paraguai, with a remix from long time electronic talent bruno pronsato. rumba is up first and is a full fat, corrugated house track with tribal percussion, punchy drums that swing down low and afro vocals. it is a dynamite groove with roughshod tin pot hits that are carefully treated and bring a lovably wild side to the track. thesoundsays founder and berlin based new yorker bruno pronsato has been on the fringes of the underground for more than a decade with inventive eps and lps on labels like hello? repeat and bosconi. his remix is stripped back to a forceful and rubbery techno groove. blistered synths rip up the middle and spooky voices, trippy effects and manic loops all make it a freaky late night or after-hours tune that will send floors wild. ble is then another j paraguai, and this one is again unhinged and urgent, with intense synths exploding above shuffling, tightly knotted minimal drums and sweeping pads. it’s pure wtf music for brave djs and dancers and is a truly original production. then last original atles is rugged and impactful in the way in combines house and techno into new ideas. it is stripped back to little chopped loops that bury deep in your brain and have you in a trance in no time. as such, it rounds out a fine ep and keeps this exciting new label going off in great style.
supernature ep is the opening release of our new series. this time, the concept of a place different than earthly space is guiding arche into new and different shores, seeing what lies behind the horizon. since some time, prioleau - with his unique sound and personality - became more than just a good friend of arche. with his first ep he bring us to darker and rawer fields. the original feeling of this track was first experienced by most participants on a memorable weekend in the countryside.
bruno pronsato’s debut album as archangel, the bedroom slant, released in 2014, saw the producer update the style he has developed over the last decade on labels such as hello?repeat, perlon, dfa and thesongsays, and in the process, manifesting his love of pop, rock and post-punk in his music for the first time. on this ep, selected tracks from the debut album are reworked by dean blunt, peter gordon & oliver coates. the vinyl release includes a downloadcode.
rene bourgeois and andy kohlmann are striking back on rennbahn. packed with catchy melodies, a fat powerful bassline and deep vocals they created a perfect mixture of open air and club sounds. philip bader comes along with a huge remix. in combining the intense mood of the track with some dark vocals, hes pushing you directly forward to the top of the dance floor. a quite more experimental remix is given to you by bruno pronsato – for lovers of the classic minimal stuff. early support by: dubfire, anja schneider, hot since 82, super flu, blond:ish, yousef etc.
bruno pronsato presents his new project, archangel - his first solo release in 2 years. this single highlights the developments that have occurred in the pronsato sound in that time, and features bruno himself on vocal duties.
dope me / does caroline know? is a slightly clubbier affair-less sun ra and more soul capsule-but still possesses the air of strangeness that makes the duo so unique. each artist leaves his mark within the first few measure of dope me. the steady high-hats and flawless kick drum are straight out of dazes playbook, while the nervous piano and 3 chairs-style claps are unmistakably bruno. as for the slurred vocal pleading >dope me..dope me<, thats anyones guess. the track carries on for a solid nine minutes as half-melodies and quasi-hooks slide in and out of the mix. the b-side, does caroline know?, takes us deeper and darker. the drums are plodding, the mood is ominous, and a series of dreamlike flourishes add to an already eerie groove. like the a-side, its a surrealistic style of house that only these two could deliver. the artwork, as usual, is done by daze maxim.

the latest from thesongsays brings back one of our main players - bruno pronsato. whats he been up to you might ask? aside from completing his album lovers do, working on music with thomas melchior and daze maxim and putting out records as pubic lover with our leading lady ninca leece, not much… maybe hes been in the rafters sipping coffee or understudying for bigger roles. who knows. nonetheless he’s back. these two new tracks come from his upcoming lp, lovers do. its a single, sort of. but not really. because when has bruno ever done a single like we know a single? this 12-inch is about as far as you could get from club fodder. rather, its a pair of subtle grooves to soundtrack you cutting carrots, sipping whiskey, or dancing at some intimate afterhours spot
2010 has been a very intense year for tiefschwarz! having released their new album chocolate on their own label imprint souvenir in may, they played a heavy schedule of dj and live gigs all over the world and released >more chocolate< and >melted chocolate<: a fine series of productions and remixes inspired by the original album release. >melted chocolate 3< completes the series and brings the “chocolate year 2010< to a beautiful ending with remixes by: reboot, bruno pronsato and marcus meinhardt
public lover (ninca leece & bruno pronsato) return with another single aimed at bringing you into their humid world of dance music. naked figures is a bassline-driven story drunk on percussion and beauty. a track built on abstraction and elegance. a track quiet literally naked from its humble beginning to its anti-climactic ending. it’s an unassuming journey of class. it’s ninca & bruno uttering scenes of nakedness and dim lights… but is it a love song? we think not. it’s not about a one night stand either. it’s simple. it’s funk. it’s house. it’s techno. more importantly, it’s about making you dance. on the b-side, one half of the duo, bruno pronsato, steps up for remix duties.
the make up the break up is the first release on bruno pronsatos own thesongsays label. its the longest track in his catalog (38 minutes), and an even deeper excursion into his stylized harmony. this track was originally a track uncompleted while making, æwhy cant we be like us. revisiting it roughly a year ago, bruno began to reword it. what began as simple attempt to create an ep track out of it became a monster. what monster you ask? in a few words, the monster that is brunos love of musicality and sound design. muscially speaking, we are on a ride somewhere between a slithery house track and a drugged out night out in chelsea, new york in the 60s - and thats a good thing because we get the entirety of the ride: the ups, the downs, the clouded mentality, the broken heart and perhaps the mended one. its happy, its sad - its something that you can dance to, but most importantly, its music that we think you can revisit for many years, as it somehow reflects us, our lives. a playful and extended journey through love and disaster, or at least the soundtrack to it.
after the first ep very deep-minimal, la ruche records comes back with a funky intoxicating groove sounds.a1.la ruche is grateful to host for the second time bruno pronsato accompanied by the z?icher dj gogo. composed by a very rounded minimal beat and a voice halfed song, the duo propose a deep groovy track.a2.ben larsen, from duo of lausanne horizontal-vertikal, propose a house track with an intoxicating voice on a so silk melody. gonna be hot on the dancefloor !b1.expatriate in berlin the duo liviu groza & luca torre from switzerland come with a new release full of energy & melody with sounds events making you loose your head? b2.after the tracks on the first ep, horizontal-vertikal come back with mental & hot sounds on a out of tun mandolin melody that gonna bring you high on the dancefloor !

it was three years ago that bruno pronsato released his last long player, why can t we be like us, and in the meantime hes kept very busy––primarily with side projects. first there was others, his experimental house outfit with daze maxim. then came public lover, his duo with the french artist ninca leece that debuted last year on thesongsays (brunos label). hes continued to join forces with sammy dee as half hawaii, playing live shows around europe and putting out tracks on perlon and diamonds & pearls. as half of the duo ndf, he co-produced since we last met, a single that marked his debut on dfa and landed in pitchforks top tracks of the year. but while he was juggling all these different projects, one piece of music was slowly taking shape: his third and most immersive album, lovers do.
>if archetypal rock music claims -satisfaction- then the rhythmachine requieres emotion< wrote kodwo eshun in his 1998 book >more brilliant than the sun: adventures in sonic fiction.< today, almost ten years later, his theory is still correct, and it shows that his idea is explosive when the rhythmachine is programmed against the common sense. steven ford aka bruno pronsato knows all of this, because he knows rock music and its creative dead end street. he knows because he played in several rock bands in his hometown of seattle, trying time and again to play the same songs, and the same rhythms in new ways. but thats a long time ago. now, more than five years later, he generates music via synthezisers and computers - emotional rhythms far beyond any kind of cliché. his new longplayer >why cant we be like us< embodies his old passion for playing the drums as well as his addiction to ones and zeros. instead of creating streamlined minimal, he has more of an abstract sound on his mind - one that lives on a dark, organic and percussive note. nothing really new, he has always been unpredictable and funky with an organic twist between the beats. his tracks often rely on devious turns, flickering sounds, warm basslines and some free riding vocals. they still do, but more importantly now, they are more musical, more space filling and above all, much more percussive. his intention here is to provide you with a long player- not a compilation of danceable clubtracks. he wants to tell a story and he does it with nine long, grooving compositions that are full of rhythms that twist around bubbling sounds that seem to launch out of his very own inner space: sometimes a piano melody is dancing in space, then an undefinable vibrancy chirps out of the background, and in the next moment some unheared buzzing sighs in time and space. the only real red threat you can feel deeply is a soulful climax towards the last track >why cant we be like us<.
butane is back on rrygular and he s not alone this time. he gets support from midnight who sweetens the deep butane sound with her vocals. minimal icon bruno pronsato takes the track to a level of timelessness that has no peer. and last but not least, dapayk forms a techno tool par exellence from midnights silky voice and butanes premium elements.
limited to 300 copies only! two killer remixes of tracks taken from the critically acclaimed claude vonstroke album >bird brain<. bruno pronsato and stimming offer their own dancefloor takes on each track.
