in a short space of time prodigious dutch producer pascal benjamin has built up a catalogue of ear-snagging minimal house confections for labels like welt, norse projekt, algorhythmic and botanic minds. now hes hitting the big time with this 12inch on the mighty slapfunk, and hes packing just the kind of chunky, swinging but ultimately lean jams they love. out of line keeps things focused on the drums, with just some sub bass and microscopic threads of sonic matter in between. to goodto be who? is equally stripped down, but decidedly more wriggly in its make up, and then finest hour kicks off the b-side with some fatter beats and a more prominent bass line. lagrange point finishes the ep off with some subliminal bleeps and tones pinging in between the wafer thin percussive pulses.
head honcho samuel deep returns to slapfunk with a solo ep after almost five years. three own tracks and one ingi visions (julian alexander & samuel deep) collab. all high energy club orientated bombs to destroy the dance floor!
with lomdit ep we have arrived at levi verspeeks 3rd solo record. three times a charm and so it will be when it crashes onto the dancefloor with tech triumph tamtam named after an unknown friend. 2nd track octo s slick, oozing groove sees right through you and pillages the floor with metal percussion. no later than 6 and a half minutes after you will be met by god s choir singing it s chorus: we smell sausage. watch out that you don t get dipped by that foxy break halfway through! knock knock. who s there? hmmm. hmmm who? hmmm, the last track on lomdit, and it knocks!
having sprung into action with the sol explorer ep on girasole, william caycedo is back with a new selection of jams on the ever-developing slapfunk. as the label s remit for minimal house and techno broadens, we re treated to low slung leftfield beats on -booty call- before the peppier broken beat groove of -ain t no joke-. -creepin - and -g groove- head into more familiar territory for slapfunk fans, but there s still space for the crisp, laid back funk of -tales from the west- and the off-kilter jazzy vibes of -yes we do- thrown in for good measure.
5 years ago it all started with our very first release the raw joints 1. we wanted to build a platform for our artists to publish their music as they see it. now 13 releases further we re ready to introduce our biggest project ever since: raw joints 5!! to celebrate our 5th anniversary we decided to do something special and we had so many tracks that we decided to do a triple lp with 14 tracks on it. a lot of new/old artists have contributed to this heavy weight dance floor bomb with various styles and energy. to top it off we asked our good friends from studio airport to complete this thing with a proper raw joint sleeve. the mask is the face of slapfunk and inside this gatefold sleeve you will find us all dancing to that one thing which unites us all: music! shout out to our dear friend vincent de boer for drawing the magic. with all the celebrations comes a europe tour as well so hold tight!
both anil aras and slapfunk records got raised in the middle of the netherlands in utrecht, we managed to come to some amazing places with our music but we will never forget were we came from, utrecht is in our blood and this release is a tribute to the place we will always love. four tracks ready to shake the ground under your feet, with a breaky remix by malin genie.
were back with a record made by the young and talented crew member julian alexander. this guy already did some damage on dungeon meat, adult only and blind box but this is his first solo ep for us. the mighty ferro made a spicy remix to top it all off.
after the first collaboration on samuel deep s native tribe ep, these infamous jungle brothers decided to do a full ep together. when together they go by ingi visions and have a unique heavy underground sound made for dancefloor destruction. the -get slapped- ep features two solo tracks as well wich really represents their own styles. u can expect a lot more music from the brothers in the future
following his lotus s7ven album with hector moralez, chris carrier delivers his first full length since 2010 s gosse de paris double-pack. a staple for the french robsoul label, carrier now finds himself in holland writing lps for slapfunk records, a label launched in 2012 that s so far released music from a host of emerging house heads. carrier, now slapfunk s marquee artist, delivers a full listen of smooth and sweet deep house with a slight touch of abstract perlon-isms and creative, almost industrial, sound designs - and a release that ll put slapfunk on the map at that.
we got 2 new artists on board. kumarachi from the uk and grobbie from scotland. they deliver 2 heavy 4x4 uk garage joints and samuel deep is responsible for the grobbie - headshot edit. straight pumpin dancefloor material on this one.
splittang, the utrecht way of splitting, and we are splitting flavors on this ep, with 2 slapfunk soldiers from the beginning. daniele temperilli drops 3 dry minimalistic raw house tracks, and stooge wilson will get you dancing with his own typical style. pressing on 180 gram vinyl.
slapfunk is back with 350 copies of solid black marbled vinyl with 6 straight up grooves on it. anil aras and larry de kat are members of the slapfunk family but they also run their own parties called grooveroots. the sound that you hear on this ep is exactly the sound you can expect at their events. just oldskool bangin and freaky grooves
