repress , unison wax 01 as a whole is an exercise in classy, reduced house for the summer generation. a-side -seize- crashes into force, with unapologetic bass that seems to be breaking at the seams. perfect for building or taking it down, its simple, four-four quality as dusty hats scatter and float around the top. then the keys hit, sizzling and singeing at the edges like they’ve been left on the grill too long, before the whole thing melts into the break. its hot summer garage house for late evening breakdowns. flip it over and the vinyl takes on a distinctive darker flavour. -groundhog- plays smooth, reduced house elements against a driving, deep bassline that rumbles and pushes you on. around that coils softly pulsating synths that swell in and away from you before the tooly, smooth finish reduces to a close. -special treatment- is smoother though. dusty shakers, jacking claps, druggy synths and a rolling, questioning bassline shows a deeper, darker shade of berlin house before it casually pumps its way to the close... and of course vinyl only

elegant universe a full-length album by matthew hayes and joel trigg is a must listen for fans of the celestial jazz sound of ecm. their soft, seductive duets are incredibly inviting, in a way that seems to encompass and enliven the space around you. unsurprisingly, itd be sure to add warmth to cold winter commutes, and dull the edge of even the fiercest hangovers. the wintry downtime is a tour de force of the duos sense of restraint and the importance placed on individual sounds that swell together and drift apart with organic ease. on light through edinburgh leaves, the sounds themselves seem so three-dimensional, ringing out like ripples on a lake. its hard not to be captivated by such beautifully formed music.

for over 4 years, david coccagna aka chaperone has been a constant part of great circles, as musician, art director, and muse. with snapback balaclava he once again fully embodies all of those roles, delivering three inspiring tracks, selecting his remixers with specific attention to their musical histories, and designing his cover art. across the a-side, chaperone scrapes away at the grit – personal grit, the grit of anxiety, and philly grit. these are meditations on loops, and loops on meditations. each one appears on the surface to be a brief quote, but time dilation takes over, and minutes later we discover that chaperone has welcomed us into and back out of his own healing moment. like chaperone s p o n d release grcr-009, the b-side of snapback balaclava is a great circles extended family affair with a trio of diverse remixes that expose and exploit fragments of the chaos chaperone so carefully contained. hitoshi kojima thrive reinterprets pulse feels swells beating with relentless syncopated rhythms and synth lines that hang like massive string drones. m//r lays down a signature percussion ensemble palette, zeroes in on otherwise peripheral elements of grit neglect, and then deftly navigates sea change with both. matt korvette and sean mcguinness of philly punk band pissed jeans open up the pit and finish the story, taking femur baseball bat to its literal and brutal potential with monstrous vocals and kicks.

“world building” is a blissful and introspective mission into melancholy that wanders over terrain both familiar and unknown. bright and sparse melodies shimmer over icy landscapes, hewn with a careful composition and attention to the most minute detail. ghostly voices swell into symphonic chorus while an analogue rhythm section keeps an almost human-like groove. arguably his most complete work to date, “world building” is a satisfying listening experience with a strong narrative - an auditory tale of an epic journey with warmth and depth from one of europe’s most exciting producers. pressing on green marbled double vinyl.

torino label we play the music we love has already made a strong start with some immersive turns by trevor deep jr and rills, and now they provide a platform for italian duo luminer. -indaco- is a charged up dub techno excursion with crisp percussion to propel the classic chord shimmer that course through the centre of the track. -canadian- takes a deeper direction with a crafty tapestry of synth flares and a more understated rhythm section. hiver s reconstruction of -indaco- opts for a crooked electro foundation, nimble acid line and a shapeless swell of pad tones as the key ingredients, and then icelandic techno champ thor whips up a sharp-strutting dub techno variation of -canadian- that sits comfortably with the luminer tracks.

systemrmx01 is our first full remix release consisting of five tracks reworked from any of the previous releases. we took a unique approach on this project and made all parts from all tracks available to mix and match as the artists saw fit. heavy hitters ben sims, dustin zahn, and drumcell all contributed great interpretations. enjoy!

all aboard the super tuff 003! this vinyl only v/a sails from the brooklyn docks at dawn. walking up the gangplank first is our lead cartographer, australias dj heure, carrying the blueprints for ra-ia tropical, ambient cut that grows into a swell of birdsongs and synthesizer swells. stoking the coals in the boiler room is hot coffee, a richmond based producer who fires up on the verge for his vinyl debut. the aggressive and furiously anthemic tune pushes the ep past rough seas and sails us safely through the night. as morning arrives on the b-side, ship captain m. vaughan throws a life-raft overboard with the chugging, yet delicate man to man. and with time running out for the motley crew, austrian navigator tilman sets his compass for the sunset, keeping morale soaring with a day to remember ia finale track brimming with beautiful rhodes work and tender spoken words.
