sheik ‘n’ beik are a nyc based cohort specialising in promotion, production and outletting left­of­centre slices of electronic music. with previous releases from family members derek marin, voiski and peter corvaia their 4th release comes courtesy of danny wolfers (a.k.a legowelt) working alongside rush hour regular xosar under their xamiga alias. with this being xamiga’s 3rd release, the pair draw for their trusted arsenal of analogue gear and offer up the ‘bohemian grove’ ep, a woozy brew of foggy textures, gently frazzled hats and detroit­indebted grooves. the title track kicks things off with glassy pads sat atop a long­tailed thud and a sandy shuffle. a distant bass groove wades in ahead of a passage of intricate, band­passed percussion and a circling synth line before ‘cumulus versie’ sets sheets of ethereal vocals and synth strings gently ducking under a taught analogue pulse. ‘midwest’ then sets hissing kicks and frayed hi­hats alongside a rasping bass tone. pitch­bent synth lines then bubble into focus before ‘blizzard’ sets a dystopian tone from the off. a stout kick drum thunders under minor­key chord shifts and a menacing sequence that works to round off another fine addition to the sheik ‘n’ beik series.

british powerhouse alan fitzpatrick returns to figure with his second ep on the label after 2009 s weed killer / science . since then its clear that alan has continued on a dedicated, valiant quest to find his own sound, and the results are on show here, with a heavyweight, emotive and futuristic techno three-tracker. like a warm rush of endorphins on the summer breeze, alan s rich up-building sound is perfectly represented in tracks like a subtle change , with its jubilant stab-led melody, or the modern club-weapon vibes of trigger finger . harking back to late 90s uk idm and proper dub-techno atmospheres, fitzpatrick then gracefully crafts a down-tempo, space-out version of a subtle change for the b-side, providing the afterhours sessioners with a new buzz-track.

from ben thomas aka bnjmn comes an entirely new and different project, brack. following a string of excellent releases for the likes of rush hour and delsin, the berlin-based british producer has launched his own imprint. its inaugural release promises to simultaneously satisfy long-time listeners, and throw them for a loop.

new yorks marcos cabral has not so quietly been creeping up on unsuspecting victims of modern electronic music through the last years. his project as chemotex for trilogy tapes singlehandly executed a type of out of sync shuffle jack not seen since the days or early rush or even cajual which have had floorboard pulling effects in clubs when dropped. download code included. tip!

apart from the rush and hype all around electronic music these days, charmly embraced by the mighty black forrest, is the center of the badnerland, good old freiburg in germany. at first it may be hard to believe that there is more than just sunshine and wine this far south, but you would be surprised by the ever growing request for electronic music in this region. so at this point it just feels right to finally come up with a strong label throughout this exciting movement, you have guessed it: solide.

following gary becks hard-hitting remix of dj rush >she is fine< on bek014, he returns with an ep of solely his own productions. >rascal< brings forward two of his biggest tracks in recent times. the title track, >rascal< returns to garys more familiar sound with swelling pads andsynths clad in fading loops and textures. the track varies in intensity but maintains the groove, as it balances a peak time feel with an almost reflective ambiance. >video siren< is stripped and straight-up techno. it avoids over-complication by keeping the elements to an absolute minimum, highlighting his ability to create atmosphere, tension and drive, using a less is more attitude.

richard rogers black booby re-edits return with bb07, which sees chi-town original and ron hardy protégé gene hunt - a black booby veteran from bb04 - digging out more vintage dat dopeness on the double-a-side, which features raw-as-hell analogue house workout *1015* (a take on the dion & tony track from his chicago dance tracks collection on rush hour back in 2011) alongside the very aptly-named (and appropriately drum-fuelled) *dr roland*. meanwhile on the b-side you will hear uk house music og terry farley sharing production duties with another 90s house veteran, stuart stretch silvester. *play house* (original mix) is a synth-heavy jacking houser with serious dancefloor intent, plus check out the kklassik mix by another chi-town don, k alexi shelby, who chases the original headlong down a dark alley littered with emotive samples and thumping keys.

the dutch pinkman label is back with a new ep from xosar, who debuts on the label and covers release number 10. xosar is the berlin based, american born producer who has excelled on lies and rush hour with a unique, experimental sound that draws heavily on the hardware she uses as well as a live, freeform approach to arrangement. here she comes correct once more with two new cuts of mystic techno.

2/3 of the legal team that brought you the circuit, burns & hawk release on rush hours no label step back into the halls of justice to convince a jury of their peers that openly emotive music is not something to be scared of. people know willie burns and torn hawk for the other records they have put out. luke went over to will s studio a couple times last year and they drank wine and luke avoided smoking weed. these tracks are pulled from those sessions.

nebraska is someone who’s tracks we’ve been loving for a good few years now and finally managed to pin him down for a release here on delusions of grandeur. the uk producer is something of an enigma, and despite some amazing releases on rush hour still remains resolutely underground and seems to keep his releases to a minimum, focusing on keeping the quality high rather than flooding the market with average material. once again, he brings the real deal with three drum-heavy warehouse jams to nice-up the dancefloor. aw-right (mute version) sets the tone with a raw house groove that keeps things stripped to the bare minimum. a bouncing bassline and rattling percussion break help to define the track but it’s the dusty, dubby approach to the mix which really makes the track shine. next up we have warp and weft, a similar sounding track but by dropping the bpm’s nebraska has created a sublime low-slung, bumpy groove to really move to. flipping over we’re treated to the brilliant eighty eights which will have you nodding your head like the churchill’s dog before you can say ‘looped up piano and bass one bar groove repeated for over eight and a half minutes shouldn’t work should it?’

after a series of prized splits and collaborations, m_rec ltd s own max_m returns with dissertation , his latest fully-fleshed solo effort. the kidnapper bell was his last ep for m_rec ltd. the avid vinyl lover and collector has since put his -maximalist- values to work sharing wax with the likes of fabrizio lapiana of attic music, as well as with newcomers wrong assessment. not one to rush things, dissertation then comes at a peak time for max_m and m_rec ltd, representing the culmination of a ceaseless dedication to the type of stolid, hypnotic brand of techno intrinsic to both chief and label.

mnlth, aka dave monolith, returns to weme records with his second ep time part of the final wave of rephlex certified braindance artists, mnlth released his 2011 debut album welcome on the iconic label. time offers 5 tracks, 26.20 minutes total time all tried and tested on dancefloors across europe and beyond by mnlth himself but also his former label boss richard d. james. time was written between 2009 to 2011. its tracks range from the electrocuting feel-good acid anthem that is time, the square bass plucking electro bouncer headlight, rushing melodies and pads from my rush chords and harrier 2, ending with the cheeky happy-go-lucky 808 track, spwint

for those turned on by the far-sighted, sci-fi inspired sounds of detroit deep house and techno, this ep from michael zucker s finale underground imprint (an offshoot of his finale sessions label) should be an essential purchase. with the likes of patrice scott, keith worthy and luke hess involved, you d expect the quality threshold to be high. it is, of course, resulting in a quartet of killer tracks. hess hypnotic techno jam -tolox- is a definite highlight, though it pales in comparison to the analogue futurism of keith worthy s brilliant -cyclops-. best of all, though, is scott s -journey into the unknown-, which bobs, weaves, bubbles and spits to the rush-inducing deep house sound of undulating synthesizer melodies and classic, transmat-style motor city rhythm

metro aka rheji burrell in full 1990 nyc deep house mode here with 4 tracks of sublime subway inspired grooves. a classic ep from the brothers vast catalog of releases.

the common thread of the three songs contained in it is definitely the rhythm, on which glide sounds and tangles of micro melodies. the title track also is reinterpreted in the remix of rush arp & maurice giovannini, continuing on the same path marked minimalist hypnotism, a defined time microhouse.

refined selector and esteemed producer, steve braiden breaks out on his own with the off out label after some excellent releases for the likes of rush hour and joy orbison s now defunct doldrums label. its a good day when there is some new braiden productions to soak up, and hopefully the establishment of off out will see them appear with more regularity in the future. as an opening statement, apex of the sun s way is a powerful one indeed! the title track is characterised by the sort of rhythmic poise we have come to expect from a braiden production, with searing emotive textures rubbing up against some of the crispest drums heard this year. - solar poise- is equally memorable, with strange ghostly vocals trapped deep in the mix and an unpredictable synth careening around the channels.

after five years of throwing parties under the name green villain, the label green village was founded in 2014. their second release, come through for me features a single from new york city based dj/producer, policy. following his two recent albums on 100% silk in 2013, and rush hour in 2012, this will be his last release for 2014. the flip features a more dance floor friendly remix by london based, thefft which focuses on predominant percussion and off beat bass stabs.

kievs yan cook here steps up from sister label ann aimee to big daddy delsin, as the two imprints have been fused into one going forward, with boris tellegen aka deltas carefully designed graphic covers also moving to the main label. earlier in the year, the techno man released morse with the dutch outfit, and has also impressed on labels like on records, planet rhythm and dynamic reflection with his ravey, heavily textured sounds

home invasion is the new label from real tone man franck roger, a man whose career has scaled the full depths of house music over the past decade or so. evidently seeking a new challenge, the parisian s new imprint promises to adhere to a vehemently underground way of working, with every ep released upfront on vinyl-only terms and produced exclusively on analogue equipment. this time franck collaborate with one of the french house hero in the parisian scene today and also label boss of bass culture, resident dj at the famous rex club…this guy needs no introductions, please make some noise for mister d julz. franck and julien are living in the same district in paris and sometimes talked about doing a collaboration, see what can come thru few moments spend in the studio, mixing their own influences of todays vision of house music, they finally took their time to come with 3 brand new tracks that comes from pick time stuff ( cityzoo) to deep and dubby vibe on * dubwize* or even the very old school chicagoan * in the rush*.. this ep will surely please most of the real house music lovers from the past and today

inkswel returns to faces with a steady swinging right hook mini ep after recent outings on wolf music, rush hour store jams, people must jam, omega supreme, dopeness galore and city fly records.

the third release from wavefreform again comes to us from the east, and this time around it marks a reformation of sound for both the label and the artist. half of the long-running georgian duo greenbeam & leon, boyd schidt is a producer with over a decade of work already under his belt whose first releases emerged in 2007. as a solo artist, his career dates to 2010 with digital releases on georgia’s front rec, fvf records, and emote music, and a track on the new vinyl compilation from studio r°. with the hard, broken kick pattern, elevated tempo, and nods to electro, the a-side ‘phantom’, a collaboration with subex, is a change of pace for the artist and the hardest thing yet to emerge from wavereform. dubwise use of effects shows the same hands still at work, but the sound elements, granulated blasts of static and drop-based structure of the track hold strong parallels to the rejuvenated techno sound currently emerging from the uk. the b-side, ‘structure’, recalls the previous work of the artist: subtle, building dub techno rich in detail and with the dancefloor firmly in mind. there is clear experience at work here with his deliberate deployment and manipulation of elements as the track struts along while enveloping the listener in its smaller details. as it pauses and takes an extended breakdown, the details rush forwards, but it finds renewed force to power itself to the close. coming in this case from an established producer with a long history, this kind of control is not surprising, but it is more indication of the riches of the east that have yet to be discovered by audiences worldwide.

the romanian trio premiesku, who comprise of livio, roby and george g, return this december with the aproape ep, their fourth outing on desolat. those that were there at the beginning of the journey will recognize that premieskus approach remains the same as ever - playful organic experimentation, sometimes groovy, sometimes hypnotic, resulting in eclectic analogue sounds of the finest calibre. the apropape ep is a unique package containing four-vinyl only tracks. buyers will then receive a download code to unlock the additional four tracks. as ever, three perspectives, no rush, no rules, just love for the music.

glorious and epic two tracker vinyl for bosconi records, this time by our favourite detroit techno duo the oliverwho factory. we used to be big fans of their madd chaise works and latest rush hour and planet e were awesome, but that percussive sound was different from what we knew from their past. we wanted them to give another chance to their more jacked out musical side in memory of the two masterpieces (and bosconi soundsytem favourite waxes) those were >the rhythm< and >the rain 5th wave<, and so we proudly got another timeless, soulfull, spacey and futuristic techno anthem called >take me away< darryl with his magic hands has created an ultra effective combination of energetic and groovy pumpin kick with a tight funky bassline substaining an upbuilding layers of dreamy synths and stormy noises while the voice of lashone gives that unique colour and atmosphere to the track that all the oliverwho fans love, dictating their original trademark sound. on the flip, takin inspiration from tama sumo panorama bar mix samplin the ow, we got an upbeat version of their slowmotion gem called >together<, that this time, thanks to altered states re touch of darryl and shone has become a proper and fat techno arena bomb, now just for the pleasure of absolutely everybody. you wont miss it, for sure

after making waves with early and idiosyncratic eps on labels like rush hour and astro:dynamics, singular uk talent bnjmn now steps up to make his debut on delsin with six tracks of experimental and inventive noise and techno. coil opens his account with screechy, unnerving synths squeals, imposing and throbbing pads and super deep kick drums that come at you from miles below. it s a hugely textured and spine tingling affair before the ambiance of berth comes rippled with glassy and alien little melodies. merge has turbo charged drums hiding beneath more unsettled synth based noise that sound sernee at the same time as being paranoid. on the flip, and suddenly makes your hairs stand on end with is gothic celestial glow and slithering synth patterns, blown is a damaged and degraded bit of icy, thumping and reverb heavy techno and azure ends on a brain soothing, chilled out ambient high. these are the sort of truly unique and magically textured tracks you would expect from a producer like bnjmn, and mark a fine debut on delsin.

there are few names in dance music today which need less of an introduction than masters at work. the ground-breaking project of louie vega and kenny dope, masters at work forged a reputation for genre eschewing dj sets and flawless house production throughout their extraordinary careers, while their influence and reach changed house forever.

hailing from somewhere in spain, mystic & quantum is a new label created to show stories of adventures, magic, science and they launch in quite auspicious fashion with an album length foray through analogue experimentation from one of englands finest dmx krew. one of numerous handles taken by edward upton, standing stones finds the dmx krew sound in particularly contemplative mood across a variety of tempos and can be viewed as an extension of the approach he took on last years reith tracks lp for rush hours no label. however whereas that release saw upton take inspiration from his surroundings on an austrian farm, standing stones draws its creative juices from the mysterious pillars of stone that have stood across western europe for centuries. the accompanying silk screened artwork - which is quite lovely - extends the theme. whether you engage conceptually or just focus on the music, this is another rewarding set from the master dmx krew!
