jamal moss aka hieroglyphic being veršffentlicht sein lang erwartetes soloalbum the disco s of imhotep- auf technicolour/ninja tune! jamal moss hat sich einen einwandfreien ruf als produzent sowie als live-performer von hypnotisierendem, experimentellem elektro und free jazz aufgebaut, der in seiner heimat chicago und seinen beziehungen zur schšpferischen underground club-szene wurzelt. inspiriert durch ron trent, dj rush und ron hardy, wurde jamal moss von den visionŠren und produzenten steve poindexter und adonis ausgebildet. diese brachten ihm die drum machines nŠher, die das rŸckgrat der bewegung waren und ihn zu seinen frŸhen streifzŸgen durch die musikproduktion ermutigten. seitdem veršffentlicht er flei§ig Ÿber sein eigenes label mathematics recordings sowie labels wie rvng intl. und soul jazz / sotu. seine stellung, als unverwechselbare, kreative kraft, verfestigte moss auch durch seine zusammenarbeit mit marshall allen von sun ra arkestra und noleian reusse (als africans with mainframes). unverwechselbar ist auch seine art, musik zu machen: er vereint seine antike herkunft und musikalische dna mit einer leidenschaft zum experimentieren, erschaffen und setzt musik als heilmittel ein.

pomrad aka adriaan van de velde ist ein belgischer produzent. sein sound bewegt sich irgendwo zwischen 80er jahre synthesizer funk, analogem trap und 90er jahre hip hop. seine musikalischen fixpunkte reichen von george duke bis hin zu hudson mohawke. analoge wŠrme meets bassgewitter und das live eingespielt, in der liveversion als trio mit mehr als einem dutzend synths auf der bŸhne. knights ist sein erstes release auf jakarta records, welches das album zusammen mit on and on records (c2c, 20syl) aus frankreich veršffentlicht. auf knights kondensiert pomrad all seine einflŸsse in ein kohŠrentes werk, mit der hilfe einiger gŠste wie beispielsweise selah sue, und schafft dabei etwas besonders: zu klingen wie pomrad, einzigartig und originell.

with a scraggle of noise and feedback zone beginning 26000, ilpo vaeisaenen and dirk dresselhaus continue their angel duo with a work that inhabits its own zone of cryptic anger and contemplation. if anything, a sense of structure destroyed has been the hallmark of both vaeisaenen and mika vainios work away from pan sonic, but 26000 in particular - with angel added and abetted by performers such as oren ambarchi and b.j. nilsen - introduces a sense of unspoken story to the proceedings, a soundtrack to a sci-fi film that emphasizes cosmic horror by implication. the slow roil that -before the rush- settles into, a combination throb and mechanistic growl, both parallels and contrasts the concluding -paradigm shift,- the subtlest of bass rhythms anchoring overlaid drone murk and screeches of noise shaped and controlled like an event horizon reached and held. central piece -dark matter leak- sounds it, deep echoes and distant footsteps and other outer space haunted house noises interspersed with up-front bursts of percussion rattlings and glitches, a robot companion in space rapidly going on the fritz. the overlaid clatter of -in- and similarly frenetic mess of -out- frame said dead center equally excellently.
