“dramatest” is a collection of experimental library music published in 1974 by fonovideo and signed by oscar rocchi (and his moniker chiarosi) - an excellent pianist and composer, who worked with many italian jazz heavyweights - and fabio fabor. “dramatest” consists of 14 slightly eccentric explorations of the electronic spectrum, casting pure experimentalism, melody and no fillers whatsoever. one of the best examples of the lost art of italian libraries!

paris, 1954. henri-françois rey wrote the thema of the piece la bande à bonnot and asked boris vian to write the songs in order it to become a musical comedy. la bande a bonnot was the name of a french illegal anarchist group. as soon as the piece was played at théâtre du quartier latin, french authorities made it being stopped. musical parts have been lost. 1971, jacques canetti has been told the original handwritten lyrics of the boris vian songs have been found again. jacques canetti asked louis bessières to re create music parts. 1975, jacques canetti released this record with songs being performed by judith magre, yves robert, lucienne vernay, pierre jamet, kim ibarra, maurice barrier & cécile vassort + 2 bonus tracks whose lyrics were suppsoed to be too for the original spectacle.

it was in june of 1980. after a long and intense journey through time and space, rupert marnie met spiritual highness frater loannis and became his apprentice. the magus told him invaluable things, like controlling his precious bodily fluids and the holistic mastery of others’ endocrine glands. the greatest wisdom though reached him on his seventh day, when frater loannis professed him an an-cient ritual that would allow him to meet the titan ufohagen, also known as cdboy. it was the 4th, when he appeared, dressed in a long, slim silk cloak, a sprinkling wand in his right. rupert stood in awe, immediately losing his newly gained fluid control, and started crafting a piece of music, that would remind mankind that not all is lost, as long as there is almighty ufohagen.

i admit i wasn’t familiar with this album, so many just pass us by, but as i sat back and listened, i slowly realized that this isn’t just any soul lp, it’s a masterpiece, full of passion and tenderness, it was like a huge hug from long lost lover... beautiful... enjoy it!

thats desire/here we are ep is a 12inch vinyl and digital release by fragile, wolfgang tillmans evolving band project that spans from early recordings in 1986 with bert leßmann to a full band ensemble made up of a group of musicians in new york in 2016. the double a-side ep opens with thats desire, a collaboration with the new york rapper ash b. the song evokes associations with dfa, daf and a queer talking heads. in a spontaneous action ash b. takes over the mic and raps over tillmans heartfelt lyrics, originally written in 1985, combined with a funky bass line by thomas roach. the experiment results in a driving indie-dance sensation about the pleasure and pain of getting lost in ones own desire.

landing straight after 415-pr10, public releases first in a loose series of san francisco-centric compilations, this three-track 12inch is a further exploration of the bay areas sounds and aesthetics, though here its explored via remixes produced by friends from abroad. the a-side is a complete overhaul, reimagining, and extension of anonstops seaside by thee loving hand, tim goldsworthys solo moniker of choice these days. the ex-dfa records co-founder and former member of unkle took the tunes balearic foundation and used it as a bed for what one might mistake as a lost arthur russell cut from the world of echo era. joel wells lent his airy, light, sweet vocals to the track, while darren morris added synth work to bolster tim’s usual production genius. it’s carefree and emotive, the aural equivalent of a big, toothy smile. the flip features a mix thats a whole helluva lot more intense and uptempo, though no less positive than its original. chidas remix of domination is squarer and housier than beziers piece, which was glitzy classic disco dunked in italo, but enough of it remains to be unmistakably a spinoff. fiery and propulsive in the way a gulfstream jet is, its a ball of thunder that will electrify any set, any dance floor.
