jetzt auch endlich auf vinyl! 77 rusty trombones- ist das letzte studioalbum des im januar diesen jahres verstorbenen musikers, rappers, songwriters und produzenten blowfly! der aus miami operierende clarence reid aka blowfly konnte auf eine über 50-jährige karriere zurückblicken und gilt für viele soul-/funk- und vor allem hip hop-künstler als wichtige inspiration. in den 60er und 70er jahren arbeitete reid als produzent und songwriter für u.a. betty wright, sam & dave, gwen mccrae, bobby byrd und kc and the sunshine band. 1971 erschien sein erstes album unter dem pseudonym blowfly. das album the weird world of blowfly zeigt reid als maskierten superhelden auf dem cover, und er nahm anschließend weitere alben unter dem alter ego blowfly auf. seine dirty lyrics waren bereits in den 70er jahren ihrer zeit weit voraus, und sein track rapp dirty (auch bekannt als blowfly s rap) verhalf dem album blowfly s party 1980 sogar zu einer chartplatzierung in den usa. seine songs wurden von hip hop- und r&b-künstlern, darunter größen wie wu tang clan, dj shadow, eazy-e, method man & redman, rjd2, jurassic 5, beyonce, brand nubian oder mary j blidge, gesampelt. künstler wie ice-t, red hot chili peppers, flying lotus, run the jewels, dj quik bis hin zu den Ärzten zollten blowfly respekt. r.i.p. blowfly!

great debut release and new label from a rubadub shop regular featuring tracks from shop regulars. tip. this first release is made up of 3 tracks from my friends and 1 from myself. there’s no concept here other than putting out music that was otherwise not going to see the light of day. the first track is by bleaker who put out a 12inch on unknown to the unknown last year, the second by miz aka big miz whos been putting out music on dixon avenue basement jams, the third by the burrell connection who has a release on west end communications and a track on a craig knows released compilation and the last track is from myself which got a play on big mizs boiler room set. these tracks were all sent to me around the same time and it felt right to make a place for them on a record. bleaker, miz and the burrell connection have all been making waves in scotland and beyond and these 3 tracks are proof that the attention is warranted. and i dont think my track is too bad either.

2014 lieferte sie mit no deal ein beeindruckendes album ab und wurde seitdem europaweit als eine der faszinierendsten neuen stimmen im jazz wahrgenommen. kein wunder also, dass die belgierin 2015 mit dem ebba (european border breakers award) ausgezeichnet wurde. anderthalb jahre nach der albumveröffentlichung von -no deal- erschien durch initiative von gilles peterson ein wundervoller musikalischer nachschlag dieses fantastischen werks: no deal remixed mit reworks von u.a. eels und the cinematic orchestra. nun erscheint mit blackened cities ein episches 25-minütiges werk über das de biasio sagt, i dont think anyone, including me, was expecting a 25-minute piece which wasnt a successor to no deal, or anything other than a collection of new songs. i followed what the music told me, like a gut feeling.

ostgut ton reissues acht of zehn with original tracks by din (aka efdemin and marcel fengler), fiedel and tobias. 2015 marked ostgut tons ten-year anniversary, celebrated with an extensive 30 track compilation release, titled ostgut ton | zehn, spread out over ten 12inch vinyl records housed inside a limited box set. this sampler sold out in no time, which is why ostgut ton is re-issuing these ten 12inches individually in 2016. bubbling synths, a stoic bassdrum, some live hi-hat percussion and synth pads full of bliss – what started as marcel fengler’s and efdemins inaugural collaboration as din for 2013s masse ballet sees its continuation in form of mono on a1. on a2 fiedel contrasts the opening tracks cool sounds with an upbeat contribution: probe-806 gently brushes funk, electro, acid and even boogie territory atop the general muscular rhythm. analogue synth aficionados are being served by tobias.: like a drug is a minimalist techno track with maximalist dancefloor effect through its use of haunting, distanced vocal fragments, discomforting alarm tones and crackling background textures. as with every good drug, you dont necessarily want more of it, but rather a longer duration of effect (in this tracks case: 8:36 minutes).

our parisian edit friend reverend p hits us with a 4 track ep loaded with some serious boogie and disco heat. concentrating on the sounds of gladys knight (a side) and george duke (b side), reverend p decided to edit em not once but twice...ouble action = double fun :) the a-side tracks are two uptempo numbers with gladys while the flip comes with one mid tempo boogie tune and a high energy disco cut from mr duke. solid gamm material for anyone down with the more soulful sounds of disco!

repeat music finally back on vinyl. we are proud to present repeat black as new sublabel. for the first vinyl on it we share two original tracks with you, first comes from reclame (italy) the second one was deliverd by raru (ukraine). while reclames track - entry into the italian parliament focuses on the floor moments, raru s - feel is a broken beat afterhour anthem! that s not all. we engaged two remixers which dont need a further introduction. fuse london labelhead seb zito remixed - feel in a stripped down manner and traffic frankfurt s very own martyne made a weird melodic but great remix of reclames track.

the last untitled future times white label release arrived in 2012, a record that we now know, thanks to the eagle-eyed searchers of discogs, featured a hunee edit of re-mida by don carlos. we dont know what kind of material features on this new untitled release from the label, but the bumping hip house rhythm and vocal combo and lush 80s analogue bassline suggests some kind of vintage material has gone under the knife to create this track. regardless, this one-sided 12inch is another essential cut from the dc-based operation.
