we are delighted to announce the wagon repair debut of montreal native stephen beaupre. one half of crackhaus, a long time collaboration with deadbeat, stephen has recently released solo material on labels from musique risque and ~scape, and put out his debut album on mutek�s own imprint in 2006. in honour of the great ancient persian empire, �achaemenid� roams stridently with tight kick, clangorous melodic cascades and prodding rhythmic tones. ethereal string pads and moaning atmospherics imply conflict, narrated by catchy vocal passages from beyond the murky depths. a reverberant rhythmic synth line injects life into �lotus eaters�, with static vocal samples and penetrative melodic tones forming sonic structures around deep tom and rattled hat. grossly intoxicating, elements lull into a mellow haze before reanimating into a wildfire finale.

wagon repair are excited to announce the latest ep from berlin based canadian mike shannon. the re-nag ep, his third wagon repair release and first production of 2009, is the latest in a long line of releases from the head of cynosure records, with his work having previously graced imprints from ~scape and num to richie hawtin�s plus 8 records. opener �darkstar 3000&#8242,, is a futurist techno stomp. engined by poked melodic tones and a prominent metallic hat, dissonant stealth melodies manoeuvre around percussion and punched bass. biding time to prolong suspense, both bass and key melodic journeys coordinate to climax in a tightly executed sensory assault. �sweets (tla mix)� opens energetically with static percussive tones circling around a pummeling kick. a rapturous vocal takes lead, effervescing within a wind tunnel of wobbly bass melodies and dizzy pads to close. �sweets (acapella)� is an abstract entity, with it�s sole vocal discernibly haunting in the absence of beats and structure. full of texture and space, this is one for the producers that will surely not go to waste.

after the inclusion of crushed by actress on the most recent prime numbers ep, we return with three tracks from one of our favourite contemporary producers. ghosts have a heaven is a heavily stripped down, minimally constructed piece built on a heavyweight kick drum whilst given movement and accentuated by filtered synth washes and sub bass which change subtly throughout the track. side 2 is taken by two tracks from the actress debut full length release on his own werk discs. hazyville is a twisted piece of electro funk expertly compressed and crackling with static energy. superb locking & popping lace the track sounding something like the avant gardism of subway theme from the wild style o.s.t pushed confidently into 2009. ext up redit 124 provides a deep clipped jackin groove with a glitchy feel. the beats are worked & moulded along with fizzing synths and jerky keys to produce a quality hybrid of sounds with its own idiosyncratic style firmly in place.
