2019 repress incoming! snts presents the last part of his double trilogy, this time called scene iii. snts wanted to obtain a different view of one of the tracks of this release, and, in order to achieve that, he introduced a big star of the techno scene to this story, that artist is shifted. anonymity remains the centerpiece of snts. to convey feelings and sensations without a face reference or a name is the key point of this mysterious artist.
brewers musical output is true to purist sensibilities that favour economy of sonic components and studio prowess over unnecessary fanfare, but all the while forging new ground & refining a genuinely personal aesthetic.

having released on shifting peaks with label mates such as trevino, youandewan or mak & pasteman, modular synth aficionado cutoff!cutoff! is finally delivering his first wax on the berlin based toys imprint. toys affection for uk club sounds is mirrored in the ep s title track -shifted- that nods towards the british dance music tradition with its ravey pads and vocal snippets amidst heavy hitting stabs. the drone sounds and gnarly synth of volatile delve deeper into a sinister atmosphere. the relentless machine groove of this modern take on underground techno is aimed at warehouses and basement clubs alike
shifted returns to drifting over.
the fledging imprint, launched by the avian label head last year to provide a more immediate outlet for shifted material, sees guy brewer in strict dance floor mode – eschewing abstract leanings found on work for the avian label proper in favour of a more direct approach.
shifted’s debut for hospital productions following an album for sublabel bed of nails in 2013. integrating his more searching work as alexander lewis and his increasingly introspective work as shifted while eloquently addressing his past, ‘appropriation stories’ is a comprehensive statement of intent and brewer’s finest, most mature work to-date.
shifted returns to avian. six steps to resurgence marks guy brewer’s first outing on the imprint since 2014’s arrangements in monochrome series. the two ep’s saw the avian label head make his definitive statement on the label aesthetic, pairing industrial & noise influences with more streamlined nods to contemporary dance floor techno.
grit, noise and relentless machine funk form the foundation of angls 004, dimi angélis latest release on his own imprint. opening track >spitzer< lets growling, angry analog synths and unyielding hihats do the talking from start to finish, almost as if it cant wait to be unleashed. on the flipside shifted coats his remix of >spitzer< in a signature pitch-dark, slowmoving sound. closing the ep, >orbiter< brings a tireless and stripped drive, tailormade for any set ready to change gears up a notch. early support by jonas kopp, zadig, oscar mulero, sigha, regis, shifted, ben klock, pfirter, rod, truncate, ben sims, kwartz...
the shifted flow 002 ep sees another diverse release from matthew burton & kate rathod. the five tracker also has a couple of collaborations. a2 sees matthew team up with friend, tattooist, and lover of all things analog, bangla design (george from the island of cyprus). while on the flip side b1 sees matthew & kate along side their favourite producer and old friend blm. the whole ep is packed full of moody atmospheric textures and vibes which can be enjoyed at home spaced out or on a dark sweaty dance floor in equal measure
so this is the first release from myself and kate rathod s new vinyl label which we started so that we could release our more diverse music. this ep ranges from ambient and electronica on one side through to two solid techno tracks on the flip side. future releases will see collaborations with blm, nick lawson, bangla design and more.
- matthew burton

after launching in fine fashion with luke slater wielding his l.b. dub corp alias against textured cuts from asc, the second instalment of mote-evolvers parallel series presents more forward-thinking sets this time from shifted and samuli kemppi.
played and supported by regis, norman nodge, luke slater, jonas kopp, perc, dvs1, samuli kemppi, adam x, dimi angelis, jeroen search, markus suckut, rolando, pfirter, slam, edit-select, cassegrain, par grindvick, audio injection, tim xavier, drumcell and more. the m_rec ltd, has become one of the most interesting labels in the world techno scene after only eight releases. labels owner is max m! this time he shows an original track, pure sound signed m_rec ltd. a journey with a very deep sound. something that comes from his background, a walk through detroit, birmingham and berlin. a rhythm that is not heavy, repetitive riff that nullifies any inhibitions. it s definitely evil, its a reminder of the deep and pure techno.the first remix is signed by shifted (mote evolver)! one of britains most important artists on the scene. the sound becomes more intense and repetitive. the rhythm takes on a form of drum and hi-hat, classic techno. effects on riffs, amplify everything and they turn the track into a totally hypnotic pleasure. ascion (repitch / drumcode / synewave) is the artist of the second remix. being a promising youngster he has now become a reality. the sound is industrial, but without a heavy rhythm, more like background noises. reverb and effects that cancel themselves suddenly. the riff from far away is almost unrecognizable. a version definitely carefully devised and researched.
with his >control ep< shifteds newest production brings no further clues as to the identity of this highly-regarded yet anonymous producer. having established an relationship with luke slater s mote-evolver imprint, shifted has been releasing some of the freshest and highly acclaimed techno tracks at the moment. what >control< does bring, however, is an impressive follow-up release to the >drained ep< released on mote-evolver earlier this year.
support from luke slater, marcel dettmann, james ruskin, sigha, forward strategy group & many more... shifted starts his own label ! after the success of his drained ep for luke slaters mote evolver label, shifted returns with 2 tracks of deep tripping, highly reduced techno plus a bonus cut of droning ambience on his own newly minted avian imprint !!
psq005 is furesshus follow up 12 inch release to last years trio of tracks (psq002) that garnered attention from ben klock, sigha and marcel dettmann, who continues to play out his music regularly. furesshus bleak and powerful remix of l-ow (psq003) has been criminally under appreciated, and now his second 12 inch on project squared (psq005) will showcase a more house influenced, but still techno at its core, sound with >lucid< and >all i want<.
the forever-progressive luke slater has plucked a special release from the ether that will impress and intrigue followers of motes approach to underground techno. shrouded in anonymity, shifteds release is fuelled by a personal passion for techno
shifteds debut for hospital productions following an album for sublabel bed of nails in 2013. integrating his more searching work as alexander lewis and his increasingly introspective work as shifted while eloquently addressing his past, appropriation stories is a comprehensive statement of intent and brewers finest, most mature work to-date.
alek stark is responsible for some of the finest boutique vinyl releases available. his 808 boxes, dmx drum machine replica and plexi-glass sleeves for fundamental records are legendary in the electro fraternity. starks attention to detail in everything he does is particularly apparent in his music - his tracks are all first class analogue electro. he pulls no punches on this e.p. with heavy 808 percussion alongside a myriad of modular noise and synth workouts. cold, robotic and reminiscent of early psyche / bfc with deep chorused pads creating an off-world dystopian theme that runs throughout this release
marking its ten-year anniversary dynamic reflection is set to release continuum, a collection of five uniquely intertwined ep’s. the special series commemorates the label’s roots, evolution and establishment and honors its residents and friends. continuum will feature twenty exclusive tracks from artists ranging from oscar mulero, steffi, deepbass, jeroen search and shifted to delta funktionen, abstract division, donato dozzy, mike parker and blawan. limited box set with 5 coloured vinyls.
following the critically acclaimed debut album from tensal, soma presents a specially commissioned remix ep to compliment the album. a varied collection of artists are prominent on the release with new and established alike, each delivering their own take on tensal’s originals.
uk producer pessimist opens the ep. his unique aesthetic of jungle/drum&bass - come - techno certainly makes its presence felt on the a-side as he delivers a monster of a remix, soaked in dark, brooding textures and broken rhythms. another uk techno export makes his debut on soma as shifted lends his remix skills to the package. pulsating and propulsive, shifted exudes pure energy with his version of santolaya. prolific french producer umwelt closes out the ep with his interpretation of belga. an old skool, electro affair umwelt still retains a melancholic edge to the production.
(paer grindvik, zadig, norman nodge, acronym, sinfol, shifted, tadeo, artefakt remix) exordium trilogy remixed invites a wide variety of artists to contribute forming the slowly unraveling vision of the r-imprint founders rythen, jonas landwehr & felix fleer.
the anonymous underground figure of phoboz is associated with one colour – black. not only is his online presence a mystery, with alternative stage names such as doghead, phaseliner, and parseq. he is also connected to the well-respected motorlab label, whose releases from the outset have been devoid of portraiture, biographic information, or textual support. black covers, a few silver symbols of factory hardware, and nothing more. nonetheless, one russian venue online has referred to phoboz’s earlier work as “digital music for sentient people.” there’s a vague connection between darkness, industry, and russian feelings of late. actuality is black. these same emphases define the newest release by phoboz on resonance records, entitled “flow” and overseen by moscow’s techno kingpin nikita zabelin. forty minutes of resonant, insistent beats, straight from the gut of some abandoned factory. a heavy, even thunderous tradition fades to black, leaving the echo of prior decades to repeat itself, over and over. even the titles of this release speak of something lost in the dark: “forgotten planet” or “shifted bias.” one tradition has evanesced, a future equivalent remains vague. phoboz gives voice to that shift from erstwhile desire to present-day drive, from industrial progress to post-industrial flow. the sounds of a forgotten culture.
los angeles based natan h and malta based artist owen jay return as gauss with their first ep of 2017. entitled resonator it offers more deep music with an electronic soul and is their fifth ep for their cultured label gauss ltd. the title track opens things up with a crunchy and impactful mix of weighty dub drums and spangled techno chords. it s a heavy track that builds in momentum and is sure to mangle minds with its skewed stabs and wiry electronics. shifted is a more fierce techno track with urgency in the kicks and a sense of anger in the coarse little snare explosions. more gurgling synths add weight and this one is a real stomper as a result. cutting ever more loose, odyssey is a mix of idm sound design, soulful synth smears and percolating electro tinged drums that are slick and futuristic. least squares completes this techno picture with spitting hits and claps, underwater chords and acidic sonar pulses that soothe the mind. this is an expansive ep that marks an exciting evolution in gauss s sound.
12inch sleeve designed and hand screen printed by alex from cassegrain. arcing seas is back with arcs-03, a unique ep of selected tracks from the first two releases, remixed by the mover, peder mannerfelt and shifted. first up, rave and techno legend the mover presents his first new material since 2009. after using the slogan “see you in 2017″,,,, for years before, this marks the start his return. he turns trappist into a hard hitting electro workout using original parts that explode and punish the senses. peder mannerfelt introduces the b-side with his take on skull gun. broken beats and exciting percus-sion sit atop deep kicks, disorientating quick fire samples and rapid snares, showing how versatile and on-point he is. finally, shifted is called into action with a signature deep-sonic soundscape. rumbling kicks and high frequency textures occupy the sound field, alongside reverberating samples from vultures, making it his own. label info: arcing seas is an anagram of cassegrain. it started out as a secret alias, releasing a couple eps on our circula sound. the secret was less well kept after the duo appeared at berghain under this name.
