percep-tion is an electronic music label founded in 2013. homebase will be berlin, germany and amsterdam in holland. the music will vary from house to techno, but always of high quality and with the best producers in the scene.percep-tion is not just a music label i, we are also doing exhibitions and parties throughout europe. the designer of the label is herr von bias one of berlins fastest upcoming street art stars.
the first release is called jamaican summer and is build around a voice sample by one of the founders of rock steady from jamaica. remixes are made by jay tripwire, david alvarado and diego krause.

the deep house is the genre of reference that the author aims to customize in his title track >say what<. it is a ganglion of rhythm and foggy atmospheres where a voice reproduces a sort of rhyme. it is pretty similar to >revenge<, where the loop cyclic effect is preferred to another though, and where the voice (reduced to a sharp tip) pierces the four quarters in place of the snare drum. both tracks are presented in their remixed versions: the first made by julie marghilano and the second by matthew burton.

canadian producer kevin mcphee made his idle hands debut back in 2011 with sleep and house 44 over a year on, he returns to the label with two floor friendly, house leaning cuts. a-side unwind takes the bumping bottom end and swung drums of early sneak and pairs it with punchy horn stabs and an infectious vocal hook. b-side, a jam, is slightly more subdued but equally as jacking with mcphees trademark loose percussion providing the foundation for lush uk house pads and a heavyweight bassline.

on the original one, a decadent intro with swishing reverse cymbals, create like a perfect countdown for the incoming hypnotic melody. these two elements, along with a deep half-step beat, continue their propagation for the whole track, made with a certain dose of style and precision.
the real explosion comes with the acclaimed remix made by artikal (j:kenzo & mosaix) who have masterfully dubbed out the version increasing the kicks, making a real runaway hit, already played and supported by many djs as youngsta and amit on rinsefm.

what do you do when a live project exceeds its own ambitions? just keep doing the wonderful concerts and eventually head to the studio. sounds simple and conclusive. in the case of karocel, that was exactly how they went about it and surprisingly, all six band members made it happen. though the four marbert rocels, mathias kaden and michael-mitchi-nagler have known each other from their hometown along the gera-jena-erfurt corridor, and the karocel live shows have been well received: an album is an entirely different beast.

nick lapiens debut release as metropolis garnered little attention when it materialized last year. a skeptical yet dedicated network of underground heads built up a subterranean buzz that has yet to spread into the daylight. that initial transmission was thick with the raw analogue flavors that have become ever-present in dance floor fare recently—but his is a sound that is dedicated to the emotive, narrative aspects of electronic music rather than simple fetishization or passing curiosity in the days of yore. this, his second release as metropolis, shows a more focused and patient hand at work. the titular track on the a side is a deep, psychedelic groover. melodies, textures and sequences undulate and intertwine within a lightless atmosphere guided by lapien with optimum restraint. equally pensive and gorgeous, the flood serves as a machine’s beat-less foil on the reverse. made up of little more than feedback and two slow, echo laden arpeggiated sequences, this is reminiscent of jean michel jarre’s more sinister moments: a brilliant paradox of economy and indulgence. expect to hear more from lapien here at sequencias. he has many more dark corners left unexplored.

illusion recordings is bringing an absolute stomper from the appropriately titled ny stomp with a track called >the ny house track<. a massive track inspired by new york, jersey house music and designed to get every party rocking! ny stomp is a special project by gerd (clone/4lux) who made this track to add to his live set with no intention to release it. it was just a cut made for his live sets and done as an hommage to the early days of ny and nj house. however after playing this at a party from the illusion guys in leeds he got tortured by the guys to make him release it... and lets be honest... it would have been a shame if these cuts never made it to vinyl! one the flip side a slightly more introvert track calles >can you feel it<. on remix duty its nicholas and dj aakmael both doing an excellent job by smoothening things up and take things a bit deeper. proper house music!

with the original tracks on the fractal ep, aldo and oscar provide us with a harmonious, groovy piece of work, merging the sounds of deep house and tech house. italian artist alex costa provided the original track with even more power in his interpretation and made it a peaktime burner. the second song menisko was remixed by raphael dincsoy and pierre deutschmann and became a dark techno track in their edit. enjoy!

is it balearic return with an absolutely superb ep from new signings saint petersburg disco spin spdsc are a collective of live musicians and djs from russia this is their debut release for iib, but a handful of tracks on labels like glenview & teardrop have made serious waves - skillfully combining live disco musicianship with the dj sensibilities which shape their sound. from club friendly and hooky dancefloor tracks to blissfully executed downtempo jams. all pulled off with a loose but pin sharp production style that really makes them stand out i never leave you leads on the a side, a steadily assembled sunset workout, with brass elements defining the groove. marwencol manages to deftly pull off a balearic wu-tang move, whil love spin is a beautifully lolloping beach bar jam, which comes complete with a very dubbed-out dub version too.

little is known about mysterious producer tommy rawson. our first acquaintance was the aptly named shy track on red rackems smugglers inn 001 release. we tried to find out more but the trail got cold pretty quick. it was not until hearing gilles peterson playing a version of hugh masekelas dont go lose it baby on his show that word got around, tommy rawson was back. this particular anthemic track found its way to mats who then started playing it out and every time, in every club no matter where in the world the reaction was same, people completely lost it on the dance floor! we had but no choice to release the track and luckily enought tommy must have a sixth sense because at the same time mats blasted the track at the local talk office to convince tooli shouting: this is the next big release for local talk, i m telling you! another track made it into his mailbox, the soulful house jam brenda done died with no name. both tracks ended up on this 12 inch of course. mr rawson has delivered the goods here, warm, sunsplashed music all the way. a name to watch for this year and probably not mysterious for long.

we are very happy to welcome our old friend pablo valentino for the second release of 2013. it is no coincidence if pablo & dairmount hooked up nearly 10 years ago when pablo started his imprint faces, dedicated to leftfield black music influenced soundscapes rooted in hip hop culture. both sharing a strong sense of underground activism, a deep love of the black music tree and a lovely obsession for futuristic sounds, it is no surprise that these two naturally decided to join effort under the room with a view umbrella.
next up, pablos monster original received the magic treatment of amsterdams finest dam swindle. one of the hottest dj & production units of the global house scene confirms here why labels like freerange, saints & sonnets or dirt crew went bananas to sign their early work. the dutch duo has made a spectacular & fast rise and is already in high demand all over the planet. their inimitable blend of melodical grooves, jazzy chords and bumpy bass-lines seemed to be tailor made to translate a new school approach to pablos rooted original tune.

out of the blue follows the recent success of the self titled vester koza ep, which gained support from djs such as ben ufo, even tuell, lowtec, giles smith, efdemin, alland byallo, lee gamble, braiden, and madteo. his brand of deep house and techno was recently compared to both kassem mosse and levon vincent by juno, whilst resident advisor noted ìa confident artist employing a level of patience and discipline that rewards repeated listens. as with the first release, this sequel is made up from a batch of demo recordings that circualted late last year. the works were written and recorded by vester koza in east london and have been mastered by helmut erler at dubplates and mastering berlin.

this release bumps and bangs in all of its aspects! the track >red< rumbles out of the speaker with exuding vitality and stubbornness. considerably more lightfooted, the >black< night steps in. closely followed by number 3 >blue<, a track that is floating on a carpet of synths and at the same time goes uncompromisingly for pure rhythm. this whole ep is a series of composition focused on analog machines and taking influences from early 90s raw house. ps: made to be played loud

california analog dream is the new single taken from the vondelpark debut album seabed. tracing the sonic history of the song from initially being a highlight on the bands debut ep sauna to inclusion on the debut full-length, feels like uncovering the story of the band that produced it. on the songs initial version rainsburys voice kept you at arms length. on seabed his vocal take draws you in, feeling magnetic and intense. it is on this song in particular that you can really mark the changes that vondelpark have been through over the past 18 months of recording. rainsbury describes seabed as a coming of age record, and that is something that could just as easily apply to the impressive transformation vondelpark have made during its conception. on remix duties is fellow r&s artist bullion who always delivers the goods with his remixes and productions, on this mix he seems to be channeling a funky lower east side new york vibe, circa 1979. next up are dfa artists factory floor who deliver a signature industrial acid workout perfect for the dancefloor. pressing on white vinyl.
