local talk is proud to present the first release on their sub-label 1nce again. this is where we bring back classic and forgotten house gems from back in the day with new mixes and reworks. with the second release on local talks reissue sub label, 1nce again we bring back one of our personal underground favourites from the golden age of house music (the early 90s). back in 1994 mateo & matos released an ep on black label records entitled raw elements, which included an amazing cut called >maw basics<. its one of those raw 90s house jams that got the house bump but without the pump, its rough and funky but still deep if you know what we mean? no cheese in sight! together with the original track (now fully re-mastered) we also asked gerd (4lux, ny stomp) to make a remix that would stay true to the original but still bring it to the next level. the result is absolutely amazing and we are pretty confident that this baby will deliver knock out punches every time it blasts through a massive sound system in a proper club.

at 135bpm, the title track cetra is drawn out progressive structure nods more to a classic rephlex cut than the majority of current club, or bass music with despite sharing a tempo and similar rhythms.

tony ollivierras issued a generous number of singles and eps under the ibex moniker on rushhour, planet e, yore, and his own ibex music, and now follows up his 2010 yore release, meltdown, with absolution, though this time under his birth name. no matter: ollivierras music sounds great, whether issued under his real name or an alias, and absolution is no exception. the infectious title cut gets things moving with a bass-powered blend of claps and funky rhythms before chunky house chords and silken synth figures add to the tracks multi-layered splendour. a jazzier dimension rises to the surface of quick release when the tunes churning hi-hats are joined by royally swinging electric piano playing and luscious synth pads.phase down opts for a purer deep house sound in its focus on kick drums, claps, and futuristic synths, though the track proves that ollivierras naturally funky side cant help but emerge, here as it does elsewhere.

imperious spanish imprint deep explorer reaches release number 26 with a split ep featuring altered moods malcolm moore alongside long time explorer bjak (real name brian cullen). bjaks two cuts - >rhythm of love< and >purple fire< - are both produced with typically immaculate poise, but its the sultry nature of the latter cut that had everyone at juno hq swooning. malcolm moore meanwhile serves up the swooping chords and rock hard bump of >love (a perilous thing)<, which features an ethereal vocal contribution from debra jones-davis, who talks about the dangers of the l-word while the lush arrangement works deep below in the mix. jenifa mayanja rounds off a consummate package with a shuffling, latin-influenced remix of >love (a perilous thing)<.

with the strains of re-ups freedom still ringing loud in our ears, dissonant prepare to unleash their first slice of summer goodness, a new two track selection from leix. the valencia born, barcelona resident has been exciting dancefloors of his home nation for the past fifteen years, regularly sharing the decks with the worlds leading spinners. with a preoccupation with fusing styles and sounds, a trait that is obvious in his own productions, leix ensures that his own work remains consistently fresh. the novo music boss own productions have already found the support of many of the biggest names in the industry and have seen their release on labels including fumakilla, monza, barraca music, inmotion music, melisma and more. his akane ep is leixs first excursion on dissonant and what a way to kick things off. lead cut akane is as perfect a fit as they come. a locked tight groove, devilish kick and a bubbling acid line that tricks us throughout with its undeviating trajectory. on the flip dumnezeu continues in similar fashion. an understated bassline pulses throughout, as a snare rasps and hats glisten a spoken vocal preaches. the gospel of the dancefloor.

first up is tabou for the people by sofrito specials featuring l barrabas which twitch edited for his dj sets a couple of years back. the lovely people at sofrito kindly gave permission for it to be included on this release. its a relentlessly driving slab of 4/4 afro funk with horn explosions. next up is the 10th and final track in twitchs cumbia series. the first 8 were released on japans lets get lost label and the missing number 9 is being saved for a future release. colombias cumbia was born out of african influences. this track is based around a sample from colombian cumbia legend andres landero and is an attempt to fuse traditional cumbia sounds with up to date production styles. the end result is a slow motion hypnotic cumbia retaining the haunting melancholia inherent in the original sample. leading the aa side, twitch passed a wild highlife song by ghanas atakoru manu to glasgows super talented auntie flo (whose highly recommended future rhythm machine album recently saw a release) to play around with. auntie flo cut it up and added additional drums and bass to come up with this euphoric modern highlife groover

amplified cointinues their quest to find new and interesting talents out there. disco in distress pt. 3 again is an amazing collection of slow house and disco. quell comes with a slow house joint that even has some techno elements: rough beats and tough stab and synth work. s3a (sampling as an art) has had an excellent release called continuation early 2012 and serves you with another killer discofied house tune holdin’ on here. russian newcomer kirill delivers the breathtaking house cut feel the broken line. last but not least sellouts does what he does best: slow-mo-spaced-out-disco in she knows. tip!

killer release on new yorks sequencias label. powerful and hypnotic chicago acid inspired cut on the a and a cool slow building chord driven track layered over raw drum rhythms on the b-side. recommended!! label promo text: sequencias does not stop, does not conform, takes no prisoners. our third release brings you a pair of artists from two different points along interstate 94, who have a reputation for the very same. so lets get to it. the main body laid down by villan x is tight metallic percussion underpinned by solid kicks and a stream of robotic filtered bass, containing unexpected shifts within the frequency register. foreboding tones and feelings drift towards us across which the disembodied voice of kold is able to find a platform from which to shudder into our consciousness and pose questions from across the galaxies about the nature of our very being. dcantu carries on the feelings of space, with protracted white noise shots and stabby modulated organ chords, but doesnt leave it long before setting the pace with solid drums and shifting keyboard funk aimed squarely your body and the dance floor as octave changes force you up and then down again to a backdrop thick with texture. this provides for the body and the mind. act fast though, sequencias does not like to rest.

this 2nd ep built from the full length features the title cut from the album and is followed by a deep remix of darlene from chicagos very own. the fresh spaced out starts the flipside and a previously unreleased version of memory chant comes as phase ii.

full pupp helps another new outfit into the saddle. even though esteemed norwegian dj ole martin vilberg aka omar v and robin craaford, one half of dance disorder with baby g (bpitch, eskimo) are hardly young guns, they gang up together for the first time on complete: a blinding cut that harks back to the time with good ol jack was still the young buck and closely associated with uncle electro funk: tough beats, hyperactive claps, a jittering bass and a catchy, squeaking melody are still rattling bones if masterfully pieced together as it is done here. the guy most closely related to the italo sound out of the whole norwegian disco bunch chucks the more intricate original rhythm but goes hypertechnicolor and widescreen on the synth parts boosting up the originals melody, throwing in a nod to happy station and a hi-energy bassline.
