following on from david morales appearance on the label earlier this year, rekids tap up shed and ryan elliott for a pair of percussive reimaginations. well known for remixes of the thompson twins, shawn christopher, clive griffin and the pet shop boys, morales red zone moniker was conceived during the def mix legends formative years at the renowned club sharing the same name. 50 weapons and monkeytowns shed adopts his head high alter ego for a remix that draws the originals vocals into the spotlight before planting thunderous kick drums beneath whilst dusty pads operate above. meanwhile, ostgut ton affiliate ryan elliott crafts a reimagination that incorporates breaky percussion, a rumbling low end and sweeping astral synths.
born from a common will to showcase the maturity and versatility of his producer skills, im:ltd has taken the ambitious challenge to give to the extremely talented arp xp the opportunity to release his first ever solo album effort closer. gathering influences from over ten years spent in the electronic music scene, what were presenting is an accomplished twelve-track album with the finesse youd come to expect from the sardinian sun & bass resident and some more intriguing touches you might not.from the eerie dystopia of title track closer featuring the mournful vocals of estel luz, its clear that none of this release is concerned with brightening wintery nights. each track has a vein of inky blackness running through it, and whether its the clicking, mechanical metronome of standout single something wrong, the serpentine bass of sickness of time or the somewhat middle-eastern-infused bassy stomp of maybe tomorrow with that juddering electro clap, the first half of closer is deeper and darker than the baltic. even with tracks as forcefully dank and derelict as papercuts there are washes of tunes like uneasy, stunnas re-work of closer and the particularly exquisite upon waves to counterpoint the gloom, showing some break in the clouds. you cant stamp the sunshine out of a mediterranean heart. trademark rolling reeses and distant euphoric pads belie, closers cynical sound. gives away arp xss true intention - to simply make the best bass

in crafting skiptracing, mild high club have made an album that strikes a balance between the known and unknown aspects of art and creation. while brettin sought to have complete control over the creation of the previous album, in opening up and allowing these creative variables in, he learned a valuable lesson that lies at the heart of skiptracing itself: “when you wish upon the unknown, you might be surprised by the rewards.”
the vinyl release includes a download code.

gramme spluttered into life in 1996, high on the fumes of 99 records, esg, liquid liquid, factory s acr, new order & daft punk s album homework . their ambition was to make raw, accessible and deeply pleasurable party music for those left cold by the tired and uninspiring sounds of big beat. gramme and the output imprint paved the way for a new musical movement and was influential in the early sound of new york s dfa and bands like the rapture and the juan mclean.
the album was unanimously praised and confirmed krazy as a special planet in the ed rec galaxy. depending on his mood, his music can be somber and melancholy or experimental, and with no warning slide into a warm almost poppy funk. his comps can be either built on a classical or jazz base, with funky synths and organic electro sounds, mostly with powerful bass lines inspired by british bass-music. for his second album the noise in the sky, krazy baldhead delved into his 70s influences: while on tour for the b-suite, he traveled by day listening to 70s.
the new minimalrome series for clubbers in sick-leave. limited to 250 copies. j.t.c. is the techno alter ego of tadd mullinix/dabrye. his style ranges from caffeine techno to dark ebm tunes to sick house. this time tadd brings two jacking 4/4 chicago house monsters, embroidered here and there by dirty 303 loops, whistles, eerie vocal samples and crispy pads. both amazingly packaged in a loud analogue production.
here comes a highgrade split ep. marcus homm and ludwig coenen share the honours on one record, and instead of competing for the glory, both producers compliment each other perfectly. markus homm, the global player, starts off as assured as ever with another great track. golden glow rolls towards a dramatic stage for hysteria. homm takes the listener in with a heavy and richly sweet narrative style. matches brings even more excitement, pushing forward with brilliantly entangled sounds that hit you more in the hips than the stomach, telling a tale of promise in the early morning hours. ludwig coenen, the man from infamous frankfurt, brings dancing into the realms of the zoo! with its not a zoo he manages to combine various sounds into a funky and functional harmony. the 2nd track mind your head breaks the standard mould and uses a broad sound palette to construct a new and unique field of maximum funk.

hot city is dropping some severely skewed house music, twisting it up with his own blend of jackin chicago house, 2step/ukg, and bass bumpers. with only two tracks sent out to a handful of the finest djs around in the past few months, he s secured two gigs playing out at wifey, certainly the most fun club in london at the moment, and managed to generate a fair amount of hype already:
- smash, this is a mega rave hit bro, nice one! - drop the lime (t&b / nyc)
- very nice, thanks for this, will def play it - hudson mowhawke (warp / glasgow)
- i really like both these tracks, kinda minimal garage, very cool - hannah holland (batty bass / london)
the tracks on this new 12 inch build on the momenetum, with two tracks of stripped down dancefloor killers - >yeah!< is a monster builder, all todd edwards style swing and tight edits with crazy deep kicks, chopped up vocals, old school piano stabs, soaring strings, and hands in the air breakdowns. already being played out by drop the lime (check his latest exclusive mix for fact magazine where he opens his set with >yeah!<). >head work< on the b side is on more of a masters at work/harddrive era tip - deep garage beats tripping over themselves, burbling oddity synths, shuffling snares and the weirdest vocal melody breakdown/build-up ever!
the originals are complimented on the 12 inch by two remixes - tvo takes yeah! to another dimension altogther with a head destroying 140bpm hardcore junglist remix. on the flip, san franciscos eats tapes take >head work< into the wonkiest area of minimalist techno, showcasing their totally unique take on future groove.
