bergerac is the new record label set up by uk producer and dj red rack’em (aka danny berman) to showcase the more dancefloor end of his music productions. danny is well known for his wonky disco outings as hot coins on tirk and also his deep as hell beatdown house on untracked. his style of production and djing have recently taken a slightly more banging angle due to the influence of larger scale festival gigs such as glastonbury, snowbombing and the big chill. so it seemed like the perfect time to start a label focussing on house and techno for the more discerning dancefloor. the label artwork will feature bespoke illustrations from german artist silke eiselt of all the houses danny has lived in chronologically. how much more fucking house can you get than that? how i program is a raw, heads down, whacked out banger, which straddles the wafer thin divide between house and techno with aplomb. with a massive loud donking bass noise, seedy late night atmosphere and danny shouting about how he programs his shit - this is some freaky deaky peak time business. next up is bonn, a warm crackly rhodes driven halcyon house moment, which evokes the slightly majestic and nostalgic vibe of people dancing alone together in a hot room at the end of the night. cheering sourced directly from bonn in 1982 mixes with naive keywork and distant female chants the first bergerac ep closes with it happens to us all, which could be an ode to prematurely greying men, the onset of senility or occasional farting in public places. its definitely a prime slice of wrong house with some seriously french hi hats and dubbed out bassline action though. yes, its more syncopated than an exploding castanet factory but thats how we like that kind of funk

ig room ibiza vibes abound on this killer ep from solead, the parisian duo who have provided metroline with some of the labels most outstanding releases. in musica, tumbling beats and a melange of cuban pianos, horns and flutes play over a very robust rhythms to create an atmospheric big room builder.

velvet: a great techno classic gets the full c series overhaul. bang up to date and a perfect floor filling package. tribal percussion rattles along with a speaker throbbing bassline which drops seamlessly into that well known synth from the original. the main lead is then tinkered, wrapped around, and flipped to breathe new life and give us a new shade of velvet. intergalactic:doesnt need much of an introduction, the title pretty much gives it away. the beastie boys go techno! another dance floor smash and grab here beastie style. vocals used effectively.. not too much not too little but with the fused with the rest of the track it brings out so much energy, the percussion, the toms in the background, the stabs throughout the track makes everyone in the room jump!

hidden recordings welcomes up & coming washington dc-based producer jubilee to their roster with the delightfully sinister dopamine ep. featuring remixes from thoughtless musics noah pred and hiddens own in-house production team of deepak sharma & dieter krause, this single is the first in a series of quality releases from the label due out in 2010. this release is comprised of two original jubilee compositions: >dopamine< and >histamine<. the pair of tracks are remixed by pred and sharma & krause respectively. new york citys hidden recordings has provided a wide range of techno to hundreds of djs and fans since 2006. the labels sound ranges from deep techno to atmospheric chill-out with quirky grooves and has been played everywhere from big room gigs and festivals to smaller lounges and early morning terraces.
