aside from being the originator and creator of the osmose sound 7inch vinyl record stabiliser, dj osmose is a purveyor of the finest house and disco concoctions, a man who has clearly dedicated his life to both house culture and the vinyl format - we dig. this time hes up on the newly crowned morgan avenue edits, and first up is a collaboration with bydesign, a track entitled red light disco, and one that is a total discoid banger, backed by one hell of a baseline. hazardous disco sees the man go solo and deeper than before, serving up a beautiful, vocal-laden, string-heavy disco joint for the modern ear, followed by the smooth-as-silk groove of i dont wanna know. stunningly fab.

legwork 5 comes from berlin-based bad boy kenneth scott. tonight is a slow building affair with a heavy bass line that weaves its way into your consciousness before opening up for all-out psychological warfare. on the flip the legwork guys speed up the tempo and add steady drum work to give the main loop its just deserts.

after the success of the first release by ivan iacobucci, holic trax sublabel monoklo now enlists berlin-based martin lewis for three hot tracks featuring a remix from label boss man and japanese don tomoki tamura. no nonsense opener the wax is a supple, rubbery roller with sparse stabs accompanying the infectious groove. -poetry- then sinks down into a more warming and human groove, with smeared synths bringing colour and heat to a loose house groove, before lewis shows his skills at choppy techno with drumcatch. tomoki tamura also remixes this latter track, stripping it right back to a suggestive, infectious final groove with feather light percussion, skewed chords and involving sub bass that laps at the heels of the track.

ruhig comes back after one year with particles ep as first installment of a double ep on midgar. the record opens with particles, an atmospheric detroit influenced cut made out of synthlines dropping like voodoo spells, epic pads and fragmented beats. eddying follows up with a more direct approach to the dancefloor, 4/4 stomping beat and thin hi-hats backed by lasers and passionate ambiances. etere on the b-side gives the records an halfway breath, sounds like a late afternoon walk in the fields of a southern countryside village (with constructions going on somewhere nearby), before to start again with the sweet and eerie perle, where droney pinching drums are flooded by a swarm of dreamy fireflies. idiom to close the ep with a fast syncopated cut, showing the approach of ruhig to any form of musical expression and genre, far from traditional ambient or deep techno and going further, to reach out daring and more demanding levels.

there are also more frosty cuts that sound like a chilly autumn walk, tracks that feature emotive neo-classical piano pieces and suggestively rhythmic compositions that sooth your mind. the second half of the record touches on church like passages of synth heavy sounds, strikingly sad violins and lo-fi arrangements that sound, one hopes, a little like what you might hear as you pass from this life to the next.

resopal-schallware records, known for its persistent pursuit of quality jams, unleashes the playa ep by santo domingo resident ernesto paredano. he’s an artist in the truest sense of the word who creates his own sound, his own expansive dynamic at the same time- the a-side contains the track yuca which features a surge of delayed bass lines and crispy static rises from below and echoes swoop and simmer. the 4/4 structure is infused with far-off blips and the dusty sizzles of low-pitched vocals. on „atea- warm tech keeps the sound organic while the other elements pull together around its weight before culminating. the three tracks on the playa ep could be classified as deep techno, but with enough power, groove and melody to set afire the dancefloor.

q3a is a new alias of route 8, a producer who has credits on labels like lobster theremin and nous as well as black venison. now the producer serves up a sumptuous four track ep, space chamber, on the delsin label and it touches on many different styles with equally great results. lost souls is first and is an expansive bit of well driven deep house with rich synths and cavernous innards that really suck you in. next up is another serenely crafted bit of atmospheric house with dusty drums and lose hits all backed with heavenly pads and retro bass. the first of the b-side tracks is a chunky acid kicker with angelic vocals drifting up top as a controlled 303 line rips up the foreground. spaced out and deep, driving yet emotive, it is a moving bit of club music before the b2 trips you out on a silvery electro tip with its icy lines and slap-funk snares. overall, this is an expansive and perfectly formed ep and comes with a sleeve by boris tellegen.

can t joke with dexy is the opener here and is a bumpy, edgy house cut with tense and nervy keys jangling above a roughshod drum line. it grows ever more dark and comic and things roll on before faith is a more breezy, airy house groove. the drums here dance a nimble dance, thin synths and emotive chords all come in rich layers and a lo-fi percussive line proves how frey can conjure up idiosyncratic sounds with ease. like its title suggest, ghosts is a hauntingly atmospheric track with icy hi hats, pixel thing and hugely melancholic chords and harmonic bells all adding a sense of calm and serenity to turbulent drums deep down below. lastly, scale is a sub 100bpm crawler with fat elastic synths strung up between lazy kicks. two filtered spoken word lines add plenty of weirdness to this soupy bit of cosmic seduction and round out an ep that is stuffed with fresh ideas and great sonic invention.

a sort of cabaret voltaire for the iphone age, drooids are a collective of three multimedia artists who produce electronic music using improvisational, often anarchic methods. utilizing a hodgepodge of gear both old and new, and not-wholly-quantized, they create a collage of sounds that verges on chaos before slipping back into a dark yet weirdly club-oriented beat. their live shows usually feature multiple guest collaborators, costumes, sculptural props and performative antics. for their debut release on lse we tried to capture the spirit of these shows and recorded over 11 hours of drooids improvising in the studio of the course of one week. those 11 sprawling hours then got edited down to these 4 snapshots, mastered and pressed in a limited edition of 200 (40 with original gelatin silver prints) for our 6th vinyl release.

belle alliance is the second studio album by german electronic music group ashra, released in 1980. it is the follow up to correlations from 1979 with the same band members: manuel göttsching (guitar, synthesizer, sequencer) , lutz ulbrich (guitar, synthesizer, piano, mellotron) , harald grosskopf (drums, percussion, synthesizer). the two albums released before under the name of ashra: new age of earth and blackouts (released under the name) had actually been manuel göttsching’s solo albums.
