masami akita and lasse marhaug have been working together since the mid 90ies. the first release on marhaugs (now deleted) label jazzassin records in 1995 was the >first rock< split single. in 2001 merzbow and jazzkammer (marhaugs project with john hegre) released a live album. later, akita and marhaug executed several live collaborations, but often with other artists such as hair stylistics and jim o rourke. in 2010 they finally got together to record as duo. recorded at gok sound studios in tokyo the results can now be heard as >mer mar<.
made using a combination of scrap metal screeching, analogue synths, and enough effect pedals to give you overweight with most airline companies, >mer mar< is a tour de force for both of these noise veterans, hinting to some classic 80s merzbow jams such as material action.

i was finishing up a long extended set in paris when the cleckcleckboom crew practically ran into the club to get on the decks. i had hung out with them before but tonight they had all new tracks and an incredible energy. so i stayed past the last ravers just to hear what they would play and that was when i heard “hugz” by french fries and bamabounou. this was a new sound, some nasty nasty shit sitting somewhere between juke and bass music and and i knew we had to get this sound on dirtybird no matter what. needles to say “yo vogue” is hot property and i’m really excited to release it on dirtybird. the half time drop, the chopped and screwed vocal, the stuttering bass kicks, the creepy moog on top - it’s simple and complex at the same time and it wrecks shop whenever it gets played. i did a remix on the b side giving it some db flavor and dirtybird newcomer leroy peppers lays out his own bay area skeeze with hot sauce on top. watch yer bass bins! best, vonstroke.

polluted017 is a tech house 4 track ep from joel enzo. the projects take inspiration from the artist move to berlin and the new choice of life in such a city. the solid beat programming and synth melodies makes all 4 tracks very catchy and for the dance floor. the tech house style of this artist it is pretty unique from influences such as booka shade and general get physical releases but mostly from the deep and dark german tech house. for this release there will be a 5th track for promotional purpose only and will be free to download on the artist soundcloud page from the date of release.

if you have heard daniel martin-mccormicks name recently, it would probably have been either in association with his disco/punk/echo band mi ami, or as sex worker on the not not fun label, or finally as ital on nnfs sister label 100% silk, recording quite different sounding house music to this album. raised in washington dc, daniel has a history in the citys hardcore scene, he was in the dischord records signed black eyes, but was also making dance inspired tracks at the same period, but coming from a very different angle from your average guy with a copy of logic and a working knowledge of dance musics history.

ndatl continues with new remixes crafted by label head kai alce of sacrifice, by house music legends robert owens and larry heard. owens and heard have not recorded together in more than a decade after countless classics such as bring down the walls, im strong and mysteries of love. after hearing the track when heard stopped by the ndatl studio, kzr was compelled to remix the song, and was quickly given the green light.

on this white label, we bring together two of the best producers in the uk to give there perspective of the work of sbtrkt. the ratio of quality to quantity in the braiden repertoire is disproportionately weighted in favour of quality. his debut release >the alps<, on joy orbisons label doldrums, certified him as a meticulous detailed producer. if youve heard is rinse fm show, youll have enjoyed the intensity and breadth of his perspective. this musicological take on sbtrkts >pharaohs< recontextualises roses gabor afro-futuristic vocals line in a more genuinely space-age industrial club sphere. the darker edge to lil silva is just the baddest of all uk house producers. his uk funky background has sheltered him from the hype lauded upon the flavour of the month post-dubstep producers of his generation. as a result, hes continued to garner respect from all sides, from the garage scene to the tech house scene. his treatment of >living like i do< takes his mate samphas vocal and adds a jerk discord to an already tense and dramatic vocal performance. his trademark 2-note bassline presents itself with its usual menace, ensuring waistlines to react promptly.

smoohs raisin theory, her debut for dissonant, is the first of tinis new productions and whilst the freshness of a new moment is evident in this funk driven number, her youth as a drummer and the early influences of a certain moodymann, can all be heard in the warm rhythms of the original. label boss marc antona takes the original on a trip with his outback mix. creating an ethereal atmosphere with his deep pulsing drums and bringing the vocal to the fore, marc creates a special moment for the floor. dissonants italian arm, re-up keep the funk and drive, whilst adding an array of crisp, clean percussion.

after i heard enol s beautiful track white mango on initial cut, i felt the need to reach out. i had a long and friendly conversation with matthieu (enola) about our musical background and agreed on the fact that we both have a weakness for pop music and early detroit techno, and quickly came to the conclusion that something with a little pop would be perfect for the label. enola came to us with >slow motion< featuring the vocals of will caulfield. its something different for enola, and something different for us, deep techno pop, perfect for 5am! enola is the new project of french dj matthieu monnin, who used to be part of the techno outfit noirdegout. matthieu now works on his own, finding his niche in melodious techno, taking inspiration from the sounds of the nineties. he has done work with the likes of rodriguez jr, anoraak, and arno gonzalez, and now he joins correspondant with >slow motion<. on the flip side, nhar, the other half of correspondant turns the darkness into light with for me, his best remix to date. if the original is for 5am, nhars remix is for 5pm, when the sun still shines and its warmth still remains.

long time no see but the waiting time is over.yo! announced details about their secondrecord. after the first incredible release by live thugs (from space) with their slomonster exploration ep the new one will be by montana falcons. a newcomer-gang straight from the hoodof nowhere. we met them in our holidays where they guided our pony trekking tour in the mountainsof madison county. a great inspiring day cruising around and seeing nice birds and pretty clouds.at night we sat around the campfire, drank hard alcohol, smoked original montana tobakko, cleanedour weapons and heard these tracks for the first time on their pony-soundsystem. make your own opinion, but they hit us like a bullet. yo!

it might seem odd for a band without a full-length to enjoy this sort of praise. but escort is definitely not your typical band. escort is big. literally. the seventeen-member disco orchestra, founded by producers eugene cho and dan balis, and fronted by lead singer adeline michele, features an incredible cast of musicians who have played with everyone from indie-rock titans arcade fire to avant-classical luminaries alarm will sound. scissor sisters frontman jake shears recently described escort as the >best disco you have ever heard<. he just might be right.

norm talley tackles techno. yes, you heard that right… in spite of 3 tracks on the original transmissions that fell a little closer to what the heads would expect from a very reliable source, it was that first one that everyone begged for more of. we must agree that those 3 minutes were just a little of a tease, so here is the full 9-minute extended cut of “man on the moon” that all of you asked for, and what a trip it is! certainly funky broken-beat techno is a new look for norm, but it’s pretty obvious in all 9 of the minutes here that this is a man from detroit making the music he knows best. there’s a groove and a touch here that speaks of soul and experience… although you may find this one in the crates of some of the new school techno elite, it’s safe to say they couldn’t have made it the way norm talley did. even if you remember part one you may be surprised where he takes it, but we’re even more pleased to say that “earth 2 moon” beats it at its own game. this one made our necks snap and heads turn the very first time.

local talk is proud to present the first release on their sub-label 1nce again. this is where we bring back classic and forgotten house gems from back in the day with new mixes and reworks. for our first release we have gone back to 97 and a producer known and respected worldwide in the house music community with more than 200 production credits under his belt. joshua michaels aka joshua iz perhaps best known for his collabs with dwayne washington as iz & diz but has of course used many other pseudonyms over the years for releases on labels like prescription, balance, classic, junior boys own, om and guidance. the return was first released on heard, sub-label to tom middletons evolution / universal language productions ltd. using his moniker circulation. the track can easily be described as a mammoth house track, clocking in just over 12 minutes. its one of those pieces of music that’s stood the test of time and why iz has been a major force in electronic music for so many years. on the flip much hyped duo prommer & barck stripped it down from its original costume leaving not much left of the source material resulting in something that we best could describe as old school warehouse meets uk bass. its pretty raw and definitely a basement sureshot!

hugo barritt was a promoter at londons infamous egg venue, during which time he focused his attention on robert owens residency at the club. a friendship was struck up and when hugo finally decided to leave to concentrate on production he could think of no-one better to provide the vocals to you are than the most recognisable voice in dance music, mr owens himself.befitting such a wonderful coupling, efdemin heard the track and agreed immediately to provide the remix,and a splendidly slick ride it is too, taking the merest hints of roberts vocal whilst injecting a melodic feel for a blissed out ride through the early hours. contrast that with high octane thrills of murmur regular tom demacs remix - dispensing with the subtleties of the original in favour of a power house ride of beats and bass, warping roberts vocal into something altogether sleazier.

the legendary black market continues to dig in its archives. and for the 2nd black market classics release we have one of the most beautiful larry heard tracks ever! the it with gallimaufry gallery! slow, sexy and jazzy.. magic. on the flip side a club anthem from the early nineties... club ice with manhassett (larry heards space mix). beautiful timeless house music!

müller records, the berlin-based label, has a long and proud tradition of high-quality releases. it also has a strong track record in sniffing out up-and-coming talent - acts like berliner falk romstedt, alias hawkinson. his eps and remixes - check his former eps and remixes on muller records- hadalreadyshownthathewasequallyathome creating techno with a driving groove as he was knocking out strong and detailed synth melodies. now his first lp is being released on müller records. klaf , put succinctly, is an album that picks up the style of hawkinson s previous singles and runs with it. audiojack return to 2020 after a year or so setting up their imprint gruuv. the new single >get serious< shows the duo not only mature as artists but also develop and hone their sound to new house themed productions. the title track is state of the art bounce in a box with a killer vocal hook, >let the rhythm take you<, meandering around sweet insistent stabs. its been smashing terraces, rooftops and discotheques all summer and now its finally available for our select dj friends to carry on the vibes through autumn. >polka dot dress< comes spotted with a sound originally created on the classic korg m1 synth and used by mk to devastating effect in the 90s. audiojack have then sprinkled their magic dust on it and added sweeping detroit techno strings, tight drums and healthy amounts of bottom end rumble. as we look forward it is important to know your roots and audiojack show they know their house history by covering the all time classic by the backroom - definition of a track. no samples at all were used and the guys worked out and replayed all the synth parts before adding new vocals from kevin knapp. by beefing up the original we hope a new generation of djs and clubbers bust out this amazing track. it deserves to be heard again and is produced and primed for todays dancefloors.
