two sprawling sagas just in time for your summer… the fast-rising brazilian-in-barcelona known as terr takes time out from launching her new live show to touch down on planet correspondant. and she does so with two beguiling cyberpunk schematics. authentic down to the last wavy synth idiosyncrasies, both neuromancer and ‘multiverse extend the analog dialogue terrs been parlaying since she emerged on hotflush in 2016. the former swaggers with loose drum charm but swoons with sweeping synth emotion while the latter struts with late night neon fantasies and a stirring sense of synth triumph. both provide the same message: this is terr at her most adventurous, detailed and ultimately hopeful with its strong sense of sci-fi mystique. galvanised by insane levels of relentless cosmic funk from krystal klear on the remix, every track on this ep is guaranteed to spin you into a dizzy state of delirium. precision timing from cardinis correspondant, and yet another exceptional release.
the mighty man power returns to correspondant. one of the earliest labels to champion his explorative technoid landscapes, and deliver his debut album, the mexico based composer makes a welcome return with three truly singular trips… ‘the zen of xen comes in two segued parts, comprising almost 13 minutes of full intergalactic immersion. laced with the alluring deep-dream vocals of tel avivs xen, anchored with tripped-out humanized harmonics and weaved with soaring pads, its a genuinely emotional narrative thats been cooking away on man powers creative wishlist since he first met xen at a show five years ago. elsewhere ‘heart for yes, life for no will have you spitting rainbow emojis all night. an incredible piece of vibrant melodic techno rooted in synthesis, galvanized with emotive layers, driven by feels it sets us up perfectly for the fantastical finale ‘hubris. cosmic, soft-focused, sparkling but topped with a choral chant that comes in from nowhere and arrests every sense as the elements rise and fuse with theatre. by far one of man powers most techno-focused and biggest records to date.
fresh from his and elizabeth wights widely supported pale blue debut on crosstown rebels, new jersey renaissance man mike simonetti returns to correspondant with a touching cyclical trip.fuelled by emotion thanks to an on-point sample of a barbed spoken word, i love you mom is characterised by shimmering hypnotic cathedral cascades that fully arrest the senses. symmetrically bookended by the equally overwhelming i love you dad, where the same chords and sample take a much darker acidic trip, simonetti also treats us to the icy ricochet subversions of the chime-binding riser lets go for a walk and the purring electroid bass prowler no gods, no masters along the way. pregnant with restraint and well-tempered emotions but knowing exactly when to pop, its another certified odyssey from the perennial troubleman. feel the love.
correspondant welcome berlin duo hinode having established themselves with a string of well received cuts on their own science fiction imprint, they were spotted by chance by label boss jennifer cardini on a recent record-shopping jaunt. with a raw, no-rules sense of machine funk running through everything they create, theyre the perfect match for correspondant and make their label debut with four numerical delights…i lights the analog fire with raw sleaze and off-beat mischief. unkempt and wily, it sets the tone for the entire ep: ii writhes snake-like with its slinky kicks and purring textures, iii slurs with bass groans and shakes with paranoid, alien melodies while iv closes with much more of a tunnelling, sense-blurring experience. total machine harmony, unbounded synthetic creativity, made to mix and wholly outer-planetary… hinode and correspondant are a match made in the stars.
it’s time to re-engage with your inner peace as yovav follows his previous correspondant cameo (’andiamo’ on ‘compilation 05′,, in case you’re wondering) with this sublime exercise in horizontalism. charmingly balmy, harmonic and hypnotic, this is the sound of yovav bathing us in a gilded sonic sunset. well… it’s not called ‘caribbean zen mode’ for nothing, remix-wise we’re in for a treat as tuff city kid gerd janson lays down a delicious hip-swaying balearic version. delicately layered with glistening guitars, chimes, harps and a rolling percussive groove that opens up into a broken swing while the steady kick matches the slinky, sultry bass notes, it comes complete with its own bonus drum groove for added deep mix creativity. inner peace found, zen mode activated.
every summer jennifer cardinis correspondant imprint celebrates another ground-breaking year with a far-reaching collection. the stirring 16 track set features late night creations from old friends (red axes, zombies in miami, mike simonetti, moscoman) new friends (simple symmetry, perel, julian stetter, ) and friends that have been correspondant kindred spirits since day one (black merlin, mr tc, yula kasp & mi.ro).
points new year, new concept: maceo plex locks down 2018 with a fabriclive mix and his new mutant series that sets out to explore the more mutated side of his signature cosmic techno further than ever before. similar to his conjure series in 2015, the new releases will reside across labels run by peers maceo respects and is inspired by, with some also featuring on his much loved ellum imprint. correspondant are proud to release the debut ep, mutant 1. three tracks deep, each version tells the same story from a different perspective, mutant disco tells it from the bassline’s point of view as a latent funk thumps with wry mischief, mutant dx shows things from melodic side with its rolling bulbous bass lead while mutant moog closes the ep by surging us even deeper into the stars with a crisp sinewy arpeggio that sucks us in and, like all card carrying mutants, refuses to let us go. time to mutate.
key selling points the chorus: that moment where everyone connects and participates in unity. a moment anyone whos shared a dancefloor can recognise whether its a festival arena, subterranean dark room or an illegal rave in a field, warehouse or any abandoned canvas between… like the ones colognes julian stetter has come from. inspired by subversive communities, all pulling together for a greater cause, his background in underground parties can be felt in everything hes done so far: his work with the ancient future now label, his vast imaginative techno constructions and now his work with jennifer cardinis long-standing community correspondant with the widescreen odyssey that is ‘chorus six slices of evocative narrative-rich electronic soul inspired by his on-going international experiences on the road, loaded with poignant introspection, thunderous rumbles and playful theatrics, the ep is bookended by two versions of ‘chorus, a vision of scorching hope and lift that can seize a full floors attention in seconds and full live up to the tracks title, message and meaning. by far julians most significant solo ep to date, this is a moment for us all to connect and participate. join in if you know the chorus
last seen baring his musical soul on maceo plexs ellum, innovative valencian artist fiberroot now makes his debut on correspondant. making himself known with three soul surging originals fiberroots spell-binding aesthetic and diverse palette complements jennifer cardinis label perfectly as it taps deep into most rudimental electronic foundations. suddenly sets the agenda: teaming up with og maestro dino lenny, the title tracks hits with authentic blasts of italo romance and rich analog craft. echo silent follows suit with more of a droning, loopy, wall-of-sound surge of introspective hypnosis while looking from the outside hits with more a clash-style feeling thanks to its loose drums and sweaty throbbing electro bassline. remix-wise glasgows mr tc goes nordic with his mystic refix of echo silent while jonathan kusuma takes suddenly to deeper, darker, driving places. three arresting originals, two immaculate versions suddenly is a landmark release for this exciting enigmatic man. we suspect hell be corresponding with us again very soon
hot on the heels of their role on correspondant compilation five, mexican maestros zombies in miami return to jennifer cardini’s label once again this summer with two supreme space-aged head jams. following recent disco excursions on hippie dance and bordello a parigi, the duo retreat to the shadier, heavyweight side of their signature with ‘take control’ and ‘last gun’. ‘take control’ is a glacial creeper laced with frosty electroid synths and a smouldering hypnotic beat while ‘last gun’ firms our focus on the looming lower tones, creating an ominous fog for the sunlight arpeggios to climb through evocatively. complete with on-point remixes from the lipsky brothers’ simple symmetry and benedikt frey & nadia d’alo’s init project, this will have you taking control for a long time to come.
correspondant’s comprehensive fifth compilation is due to drop imminently. once again jennifer cardini’s label have recruited a seriously on-point rollcall of friends and family to contribute to its distinctive cosmic, deep, groove-laden veneer as everyone from man power to marvin & guy deliver their rule-free finest. following the first ep sampler with tracks from khidja, jonathan kusuma, marvin & guy and kempes here are four more startling future-shocks from the forthcoming collection. featuring stellar star-gliding synthetic soul from some of the label’s oldest friends such as red axes and javi redondo, kindred spirits such as fort romeau and new friends like colli alban, it’s the perfect set-up for the total knock-down that is the album. guaranteed to be soundtrack our summers, dancefloors and souls for a long time to come…
indelible craters on the techno lp landscape: correspondant s annual compilation dispatches have become calendar essentials for all connoisseurs of the barbed, darker, leftfield side of the dancefloor. this summer they hit correspondent compilation 5 with another future-bound 15 track opus from their label family and friends. but first come the vinyl samplers... this inaugural sampler is turbo-charged by some of the label s newest friends as khidja, marvin & guy and kempes all make their correspondant compilation debuts alongside established affiliate jonathan kusuma. each artist drawing out some deliciously mystic sci-fi aesthetics to the collection, it s a remarkable introduction to what is arguably one of the jennifer cardini s label s most comprehensive and explorative various artist albums to date.
something special: frenchman sebastien bouchet is launching his brand-new sebastopol project. new name, same deliciously deviant electronica: his debut is compiled with serious detail and a cool coherency of humanised textures, trippiness and barbed, shadowy soul.
we welcome ricardo tobar for his debut label release. it’s an honour, correspondant is the latest in an elite line of select labels that the cosmic frenchman has worked with over the years such as cocoon or border community. consistent in all compositions, its another pristine trip into the interstellar unknown. each track measured, weighted and laced with ricardos signature creeping dynamic. unhurried, elements gradually make themselves known and envelop your senses without you realizing. deep, mystic and singular, the perfect debut.
raunachte huntsmen die wilde jagd return to jennifer cardinis correspondant. previously spotted on the labels far-reaching compilation 4 album earlier this year, the duo ride back into town with two more chilling tales.
correspondant can finally reveal the release of the remixes for man powers debut lp, which was released last year on correspondant. a year in the making, the remix package features artists and friends hand-picked by both jennifer cardini and man power himself. disco halals moscoman remixes the baggy splendour of beilsteiner, creating a rolling and belching extended opus more focused toward the peak time dance floor. hivern discs jmii takes hunting swan and turns it inside out, exploring space with a cerebral, schizophrenic quality. alternatively, pale blue (mike simonetti) takes boys beware and re-imagines it as an aggressive drum workout. completing the package, suade, the artist who also mastered the original album, replaces ten’s balearic leanings with an idm sensibility, yet still retains the optimism of the original track. all 4 remixes manage to exist as distinct works in their own right, while paying homage to the magpie approach of the original long player.
jennifer cardinis correspondant is proud to present uriah klapters debut ep. hailing from tel aviv and a long-time member of the citys legendary breakfast club, each of these three deep techno tracks is tailored for late nights, long blends and otherworld hypnosis. with a decade of djing providing him with the perfect tools to conjure spells on the dancefloor, correspondant have fired the starters pistol on whats likely to become a vast repertoire from the young israeli artist… uriah catapults us into the misty ageless ether with hashomer where clicky drum machine elements start the motor and the bassline does the driving before a subtle-but-twinkling arpeggio and soaring synth commandeer the drivers seat. as the synth takes a sudden turn for the psychedelic, all your senses of time, space and place will vanish only to reappear as he brings it all back together on the climax.
for our milestone 50th release we felt we needed to do something special, so with that in mind we present the return of red axes to correspondant. way back in 2013 we were a new label, and they were a new face on the scene. their hit record camino de dreyfus helped propel both the label and the artist in to the established figures that both are today. avalon combines everything thats good about the axes, with their signature new wave sound taking in the tropics, but skewed through a middle eastern kaleidoscope. sequencia astronomical is familiar territory to many red axes releases, but takes everything either deeper, darker, or weirder than theyve previously ventured, showing the huge growth in their confidence in the intervening 3 years since their last correspondant ep. to round off the package correspondant also presents an as yet unavailable instrumental version of camino de dreyfus
‚narcotic romance’ is a free-basing discofunk jam that sounds like it’s been found in a time capsule on the shore of lake garda, buried deep beneath the ruins of the cosmic club. ‚summer on repeat’ is a slipping and sliding slice of liquid techno that deftly balance playfulness and pathos, with a real emotional undercurrent belying it’s punchy wonkiness. ‚sun sign’ combines the wonk and the disco from both of the preceding tracks, and slows them down to menacing effect, with a chugging discordance that is very correspondant.
vox low come in hard, slow and dark on a new 3 tracker for correspondant. the pyschedlic parisian duo display various iterations of left field menace, ranging from glam rock on “the hunt”, electro disco on “some words of faith, and pitched down acid on “i am a strange machine sometimes”, but all with the signature analogue pulse which correspondant is famed for presenting
already three years after his third album, vitalic is back on jennifer cardini’s records label correspondant records with two original new tracks. often unclassifiable, but always efficient, vitalic shouts out and restyles his universe under many different ways. after having mixed electro music to rock, to disco and then to pop in the course of his three albums, « film noir » ep invites us to a spatial journey. unusual, unknow, fascinating, powerfull and sometimes dark , this project defines itself as a cold disco. his own and recognizable esthetic shows here two of his multiple faces : ‚film noir’ will remind absorbing universe of german sound of 90’s : a techno and slow kick, a spatial slicks and a worrying mental melody. ‚ooey’, a sort of hallucinated electro pop joined by some chorists, without forgetting lady disco despite of its new wave bass.
correspondant return with their fourth annual label compilation. in this, the year of their fifth anniversary, they invite you on a night drive which takes you deeper in to the darkness. label owner jennifer cardini has invited a cavalcade of correspondant’s core family (man power, red axes, javi redondo, doll kraut), closest collaborators (axel boman boruisade), and newest friends (chida, yovav, dollkraut, kiwi, jonathan kusuma, autarkic) to show the world that correspondant has a synthetic heart of punk which pumps glacial disco through its frozen veins.
correspondant return with their fourth annual label compilation. in this, the year of their fifth anniversary, they invite you on a night drive which takes you deeper in to the darkness. label owner jennifer cardini has invited a cavalcade of correspondants core family (man power, red axes, javi redondo, doll kraut), closest collaborators (axel boman boruisade), and newest friends (chida, yovav, dollkraut, kiwi, jonathan kusuma, autarkic) to show the world that correspondant has a synthetic heart of punk which pumps glacial disco through its frozen veins.
correspondant mainstay, man power, returns with his first artist ep for the label since his debut, the kiloton ep back in 2014.additionally, the last year has seen the artist dj around the world, release original material and remixes for numerous labels, and was capped by his being named as one of xlr8rs best new artists of 2015. the planet cock ep represents some of man power s most dance-floor directed work to date, veering from the arpeggiated big room techno-funk of stunt cock, to the stuttering analogue stomping of the temple, and rounded off by some breaked-up-neo-electro-with-a-middle-eastern-twist
while we love to dance at correspondant, we have also been known to think from time to time to, so it s exciting for us to have been given the opportunity to combine the two things when presented with some new music from two of our favourite producers, marvin and guy. as such, correspondant 42 represents a more conceptual approach for the italian duo, informed by long countryside drives, the names of classic cars as learned from an illustrated childrens book, a yearning to move away from the pack of identikit dance music and a need to connect with their music in a physical way, as provided by the recorded hand clapping refrain running throughout the tracks.
a self-proclaimed lover of irreverent and profane music, rising spanish producer carreno is lb takes the helm on the 33rd offering from jennifer cardini’s correspondant label, with a remix from returning artist andre bratten
correspondants 28th release, polina, delivers another brooding, evocative ep for the label, this time from the agents of time polyhedron: a fusion of ideas and concepts that make up a single reality. the italian trio of andrea di ceglie, fedele ladisa, and luigi tutolo came together in the summer of 2013, and their inaugural album was released via stem records in january of the following year. the group uses both analog and digital equipment to refine their unique amalgam of progressive, techno, and ambient music.
anonymous engineer man power delivers the kiloton ep for correspondants 26th release, available in both digital and vinyl formats on 14 april 2014. the producers recent contributions to the label, including a track on compilation 02, feature corrosive riffs and irreverent stylistic mixing. kiloton presents a tighter sound complimenting label signatures of acid-laced, dramaturgical warm-ups and off-kilter body workouts.
michel amato aka the hacker is without a doubt one of the most successful and accomplished french djs and producers. since 1992 he is part of the international techno szene, widely acclaimed as a solo artist as well as persuing thriving projects with miss kittin. he is a rare gem ... an artists who always stayed true to his style and his early musical influences of bands such as cabaret voltaire, throbbing gristle, einstürzende neubauten, depeche mode or joy division. for his new satori ep on correspondant he makes no exception! originally hailing from mexico, daniel proclaimed disco caveman and rising comeme (matias aguayos label), transforms michels white funk into a psychedelic disco track. the remix unmistakably bears his signature: it is a maloso. offsets remix is a crawling monster. he digged deep and the result is a dark and hypnotic remix of white funk.
marius bubat and georg conrad aka coma combine pop and house, techno and indie rock with an eclectic approach, creating highly recognizable music with an emotional impact. even though emerging just a short time ago, coma have already seen their share of travelling, with a recent appearance at sxsw 2012 and even a journey to vietnam. it was there the boys teamed up with norwegian dj charlotte bendiks, as they fought their way through the chaos of hanois traffic.
mark and stefan have been making noises for a long, long time. born in an storm way, way back, they have forgotten more than most people know about the art of making people move their bodies in strange ways - graduating from the psychonautic academy of vibrational arts with 2 lfos, a couple of vcfs and 3 vcos… when theyre not working in the studio on their new psychedelic project pulp disco & the outcasts, theyre getting up to all sorts of bad behavior in ibiza, france and their home in london and manchester. warehouse parties, dirty dive bars and seedy strip joints have all been seduced by their magic over the years, and this is where the duo feel most at home. the wrong side of the horizon is where they were born…and dark dub-discos are now their only refuge. so when the moon is full, hitch a ride with them into deep space...
for correspondant 06, we have invited another french producer who comes from paris and calls himself offset. after a series of jazz/funk projects, offset found his calling with electronic music. >gazoline< is the title track and its a straight dance floor burner that crawled under our skin on the first listen. >subversive< is proof that slow can be dark, groovy, powerful, and sexy all at the same time, and >addicted< has a taste of trance just the way we like it, not too much, but just enough.
supported by maetrik, karrotte, chloe, ewan pearson, ivan smagghe, the hacker ...
after i heard enol s beautiful track white mango on initial cut, i felt the need to reach out. i had a long and friendly conversation with matthieu (enola) about our musical background and agreed on the fact that we both have a weakness for pop music and early detroit techno, and quickly came to the conclusion that something with a little pop would be perfect for the label. enola came to us with >slow motion< featuring the vocals of will caulfield. its something different for enola, and something different for us, deep techno pop, perfect for 5am! enola is the new project of french dj matthieu monnin, who used to be part of the techno outfit noirdegout. matthieu now works on his own, finding his niche in melodious techno, taking inspiration from the sounds of the nineties. he has done work with the likes of rodriguez jr, anoraak, and arno gonzalez, and now he joins correspondant with >slow motion<. on the flip side, nhar, the other half of correspondant turns the darkness into light with for me, his best remix to date. if the original is for 5am, nhars remix is for 5pm, when the sun still shines and its warmth still remains.
clement meyer now joins correspondant, and with a nod to his parisian roots he enters our label with techno to be reckoned with. just listen to the first half of >sweet insanity<, and you will begin to appreciate his dark style as much as we do. abe duque, who we have invited to remix >sweet insanity< has been at the head of the acid-house and underground-techno table since his earliest releases way back in 1993. from muscular and melodic techno to cocktail jazz and ambient interludes, his early tracks on his own labels tension and hollis haus included releases under pseudonyms like kirilan and super secret symphony, plus his releases on others labels like disko b, rapture!, morbid, and tresor captured a particular period of clubbing history. the second part of duque s career was a run of increasingly massive 12 inch hits like champagne days, cocaine nights, acid, disco nights, and in 2004 his monster smash with blake baxter >what happened?<. his signature is now stamped across productions from top acts like chemical brothers, pet shop boys, and miss kitten, and has become a regular on dj hells gigolo label. the highlight of this period, though, was his first album >so underground it hurts<. it was undeniably a techno event, and that is exactly what he comes with today, a mind bending techno remix of >sweet insanity<. we hope you like it!
correspondant has been jennifer cardinis residence at rex club paris for 8 years. the parties have been legendary with guests and friends from all over the world and today we are extremely proud to announce that correspondant has become a label! for our first release nhar and plein soleil will have the honors. nhar began his productions alongside kevin scherschel as the 22 crew and has since then worked with minimal house imprints modelisme, plak or mobilee to name a few ... on the b side comes plein soleil s interpretation. lead by krikor and chloe, plein soleil need no introduction, everyone remembers their latest pressing on live at robert johnson as well as their stunning remix of losoul on playhouse. so get ready for nhar and plein soleil…
correspondant will also issue two compilation 02 vinyl samplers, the first of which features hofbahn, danny benedettini, massimiliano pagliara, and geoffroy mugwump & dc salas the second andre bratten, carreno is lb, the asphodells, and kasper bjorke.
