following mervs ep, taped artifact now presents a new outing by the label co-founder kevin arnemann. with three original cuts, showcasing the labels characteristic dub-influenced techno sound, the ep is complemented with two remixes by jonas kopp. arnemanns ‘trash polka ep kicks off with saturated 808-grooves, driven by steady dub-chords and hard hitting claps. next, the original track sees a special dub influenced treatment by jonas kopp. the in spain residing argentinian delivers a stripped down, yet high energized techno version. as a digital exclusive, kopp prepares a second interpretation, following the tradition of a classic rooted dub sound. on the flipside, ‘revertigo sees arnemann utilise a rumbling break beat, topped with icy rides, blissful dub chords and cinematic pads, taking you on an energetic trip. ‘ideology is bringing the ep to a closing. with heavily processed chords and hard hitting drums, kevin arnemann creates a suspense that leave you wanting for more.

amsterdam label taped artifact has lined up an ep from merv aka brian oldenborg and jan christiansen. after the re-melted reissue on styrax in 2015, this is the pairs third new ep in three years since coming back after first making music back in the mid nineties. their warm dub and techno style is still very much fresh and arresting. blueprint opens the ep with eight enthralling minutes of percolating drums and shuffling hi hats. frosty yet warm, it’s a cavernous affair with a hypnotic riffs sucking you in over and over. shine is more upright techno, but the rock solid kicks are still draped with rippling, static coated chords that ripple out in all directions. rotundum closes things out with synth waves gently breaking over hunched drums that build the pressure. it’s tense and engaging while remaining thoroughly atmospheric.

kevin arnemann and daan kemps taped artifact record label is prepping its first release of 2017. following the labels recently released various artists compilation, the amsterdam based imprint welcomes two pioneers within the icelandic techno scene: ohm & octal industries. ohm earned his stripes through his collaborations with exos in the early 00s, whilst octal industries is a much-respected artist within the idm scene under his ruxpin alias. with the highly dub-influenced maoss ep, the icelandic duo follows up their recent appearance on thors renowned thule records. the four-tracker features highly textured, rhythmical and classic rooted dub techno, showcasing the iconic icelandic aesthetic.

for its fifth release, amsterdam’s taped artifact offers up a various artists ep that features four tracks including one from the boss, kevin arnemann, as well as hiver, elmer and physical therapy. it is a moody and atmospheric deep techno offering that fits in with the label’s ever more singular aesthetic

cult italo post-wave group cristalli liquidi are back with another 12- maxi single. this time the production was carried out by the godfather of italian electronic music alexander robotnick with some mysterious intervention from bottin. sciame (italian for swarm) hits harder on the dancefloor then their previous releases, without losing a single drop of the italo lyrical magic.

kevin arnemann and daan kemps taped artifact label clocks up its fourth release with a three track offering from outlaw rec boss and key part of the italian serendipity club, namely matthew oh. matthew has previously released on his own label and others like side off, and eloquently marries dub, techno and house into smooth and sensuous sonic landscapes. the opening track psycho hub is an atmospheric and spacious roller with dubbed out drums and pads, coupled with incendiary hi hats urging you along. shroud is seven minutes of slick and spaced out deep techno with liquid synths and clacking hits all racing along and making for a frictionless groove that sucks you right in. finally, get in the fridge slows the tempo down and becomes an even more widescreen and roomy roller with suspensory pads, smeared synths and aqueous sonic details that make you feel like you are floating in sound.

the collectable artifact imprint is taking a detour from incendiary and obscure disco re-issues into releasing even more obscure material. mysterious italian electro-wave band cristalli liquidi are featured here with a killer rare italo gem produced by tinto b. (also known for robots are un-american, re-released on italians do it better last year). inspired by a lcd soundsystem song tinto b. comes with this great record! we cant find the connection to the lcd soundsystem track that supposed to have been his source of inspiration, and actually we dont care... its some of the best recent italo disco we ve heard in a while! if you are big on italo vocals the a side is for you, if instead you dig deep electro disco but without the chanting, the dub version on the flip side will more than certainly send you into italo space. another hot artifact release from mr. bottin. tip! rising new label deadplate records drop their second release: the first vinyl offering by artifact, with a remix by graphics. artifact is the main moniker of bristols ryan bonfield, an exciting new producer that merges the hard hitting sounds of dubstep with the swung rhythms of 2-step. with support coming from the likes of mary anne hobbs and mosca, those familiar with bristols offerings to the uk dance scene will already be familiar with artifacts music. if youve ever heard one of his dubs on a dance floor, you will have known – its hard not to take notice when they drop. the original tracks here are perfectly complimented by a remix of archaic line by oxford/london dj and producer graphics, bringing how own personal techno / dubstep influenced twist to the original.

to those of you who know your techno, shawn rudiman should be a well-known name. a prolific producer, he has nevertheless always kept his quality control on a tight leash, and releases on 7th city, technoir audio, integrated, dust science & matrix (amongst others) have brought him a reputation of being one of the finest producers around of contemporary detroit style (aka melodic) techno. a nice taster on the last minimalsoul release (sashimi hi) has hence led on to a full ep, and its classic stuff...tough beats and esoteric but catchy melodies all tied up with an expansive production ethic make for a great listen, and (perhaps unusually with this style of music) for a great dancefloor experience too!

coalmine records is excited to announce the limited-edition vinyl release of the artifacts’ highly regarded 2012 single, “easter,” which marked the group’s first official release in more than 15 years.
initially released as a digital single on april 3, 2012 (the tuesday before easter sunday), the track later appeared on coalmine’s decennary compilation, unearthed, which dropped may 13, 2014.
however you heard it—one thing was very clear: despite their time apart, artifacts emcees tame one and el da sensei sounded as fresh as ever on “easter.” the new jersey rappers’ venomous flows are boosted by the neck-breaking production of acclaimed north carolina producer khrysis. making the cipher complete is the turntable work of dj dutchmaster, who provides the scratch hook and outro cuts.
with this release, “easter” makes its grand return in the physical form in a limited-edition white vinyl pressing that also includes the instrumental track on the flip. it also takes things back to the old-school by way of a front jacket hole that exposes the label (the heads know what’s up).

a - side: i love my lady (the black bahia version) ashley reworks an unreleased collaboration between chic and lounge legend johnny mathis. what ?!!!! this has summer anthem written all over it. beedle waves his magic wand over this future classic beach groove to create a joyful sing-a-long. b - side: addis ababa (afrikanz on marz kosmik rework ) ashley and his musical partner darren morris add their trippy aom vibes to this rare studio one classic to create an afro/reggae/drone/psychedelic monster. it pulls you in and does not let you out. this is an essential rework for all the true heads out there.

a - side: i aint hiding (heavy disco edit)
ashley gets low down and dirty with the southern rock giants the black crowes. their >i aint hiding< track was a real marmite moment for their fans. ashley (being a fan) turns the stonesy disco rock track (think miss you) inside out to create a psychedelic dancefloor wig out. already a big fave with the horse meat disco crew this has been one of mr beedles most requested edits/reworks over the last couple of years and he has decided to let this one out the vaults. its a monster.

bottin with his 3rd installment on the artifacts series! artifacts 1 and 2 did did becoe small cult releases that sold out everywhere. no3 is another massive disco release based on early italo disco tracks that have been produced for packed dance floors in rimini, venice and milan. bottin managed to deliver tracks that stay true to their roots and have the energy of modern club tracks. even for non italo disco fetishists these tracks are delivering the fun! limited supplies on transparent blue vinyl!

part two in the private pressing series of bottin! again crazy limited and extremely good! two hot tracks covering each one side with upbeat italo tracks that takes no prisoners! the funk driven aextacy on the a-side with its sexy vocals leaves not one girl on the side! on the flip there is teak lover with is pure italo drive and bouncing bassline and bombastic synths. disco just don t get much hotter then this. recommended!

here a private pressing of 200 copies with some exciting works of mr bottin who is for sure one of the most active producers in the new disco umwelt this year! one super sweet and sexy track called sage oil. disco just dont get much hotter then this. flip side had a track called hot lizard which is a rawer and more masculine piece as many of us might know from the typical italian police series and horror movie scores from the late 70s and early 80s. recommended!
