ltd 2020 repress !! tj hertzs first original release since 2014s critically acclaimed flatland lp comes in the form of objekt #4, a continuation of his club-focused white label series and a tribute to the sadly now defunct basement q, a formative and beloved haunt in berlin’s schöneberg district which quietly but profoundly shaped the musical identities of hertz and several of his contemporaries until its final closure in 2012.
the two tracks on objekt #4 pay tribute to two of the many musical facets of basement q in its later years. a-side “needle and thread” aims to condense several hours of a thursday night in the basement into 9 minutes and 26 seconds, embellishing a hypnotic rolling techno backbone with hyper-detailed atmospherics, enchanting melodies and tight, strident breakbeats. b-side “theme from q” is hertz’s reinterpretation of a basement q anthem, owner and founder dj bogdan’s own “love inna basement (morning dub)”, which never saw an official release despite providing the soundtrack to over 20 years of late morning love-ins in the cellar underneath the sattler & söhne glue factory. together, the two tracks offer an incomplete but nonetheless seductive illustration of one of the most idiosyncratic and overlooked clubs in berlin’s recent history.

he goopy goons are back with another collection of twisted american electronics. for those not familiar, cp/bw is a collaboration between corporate park (aka shane english/jonah lange) and beau wanzer. this second lp collects tracks from various recording sessions done in texas over the past 5 years. humid ditties, bumpkin beats, toothless treats, and only for the freaks.

new zealander julien dyne is a multi-instrumentalist with a long and impressive history of collaborative, live and solo musicianship. best known for his solo work on bbe and having worked with the likes of theo parrish, steve spacek, andreya triana and lord echo - one of soundway’s most successful artists. dyne has also accumulated a number of accolades over the course of a 10-year career including but not exclusive to being hotly tipped by both moodymann and gilles peterson.
dyne’s new project for 2018 is an 11-track lp on miles cleret’s extolled soundway label. demonstrating a shift in gears and movement toward a more uptempo, afro inspired sound ‘teal’ melds instrumental flair with astute production and a persistent grain of impassioned, effortless soul. the album features fellow new zealanders lord echo and mara tk, long term band-mate ladi6, fat freddy’s drop trumpeter toby laing, plus australian vocalist tim guy and jazz luminaries jonathan crayford and john bell. this is a body of work for the listener and the dancer alike with a mood as fitting for headphones as it is for the floor, with the double vinyl album cut loud at 45 rpm.

ras g and moresounds explore the outer reaches of sound system culture for dub-stuy’s new collaborative series of eps. brooklyn-based label dub-stuy kicks off 2018 with the inaugural release of a new ep series dedicated to unearthing and celebrating the outer reaches of sound system culture. taking its cue from the classic dub releases where two producers would face off with their own versions, dub-stuy’s meets series brings together artists who have a clear dub influence but do not operate solely within the sphere of the dub and reggae world. the first such meeting is between los angeles beat supremo ras g (brainfeeder, stones throw) and paris junglistic dub scientist moresounds (cosmic bridge, astrophonica).

the ramones’ self-titled debut album from 1976 back with remastered audio on 180 gram vinyl.

just as magnified record grooves reveal dust constellations and lunar landscapes, so too does godblesscomputers’ third album. “solchi” is a deep search into previous moments in lorenzo nada’s lifetime, influenced by the presence and power of music. his process began with the recovery of some old cassettes, mixtapes nearly forgotten, audio recording of voices from his childhood, and lots of dusty jazz, soul, and hip-hop records. as the starting point of this travel merge with its end, past and present combine to form gbc’s current sound. warm electronic production rooted by grooving bass lines form the core of a kaleidoscope of sixteen tracks, colored by synthesizers, guitar echoes, scratches, samples, fading voices and kalimba. the album is a collection of sixteen stories, sixteen soundscapes, each of them gbc’s tribute to the path taken thus far, an homage to his love for music. the recording and studio work took place over a year, with the adding and subtracting of many elements. for this project, gbc invited several musicians into his home studio, both old friends and new. they helped to recreate the sounds of the original recovered recording, as well as add fresh ideas to the project.

following up his self titled 12 inch earlier this year austin, texas based shane english continues in his path exploring the deep and bizarre edges of the american diy electronic world.
over these eight tracks we get english’s wide spanning take on the music touching upon elements of industrial on -invasion threat- darker ambient with opening track -sanctuary- and even hints of stinson on -bilocation drift-. english’s signature sparse and melancholic tone is present throughout again using minimal percussion and voice to glue it all together in a haunting fashion. another engaging listen direct from the depths of the american underbelly.

in 1999, the duo of dj t-rock & squashy nice formed in atlanta. squashy nice is an accomplished beats producer, and dj t-rock is a scratch-master responsible for battle records on the likes of bomb hip-hop records, stereo-type, and replicant music trading corp. together they released three party-ready instrumental hip hop albums for new zealand’s why records label. now based from coast-to-coast (squashy nice in new york and dj t-rock in los angeles), the duo has joined the cold busted family for their fourth album, the satisfying seventeen track back to the essence. showcasing the variety and breadth that squashy nices beats and samples and dj t-rocks scratches can provide, the tracks on back to the essence swerve from party rockers to soulful, thoughtful numbers featuring vocals from new zealand vocalist miss glue. among the standouts are the opening hit the breaks, combining harmonica, 60s style fuzz guitar, heavy beats, and some crucial vocal scratches, let them be, with miss glues lovely vocals providing a counterpoint to acoustic guitar cut-ups, and watch the clouds, featuring gentle piano, a loungey string section breakdown, and wistful vocals from squashy nice. back to the essence should be ingested whole, as its plentiful tracks radiate fun, funk, and good vibes. its like a virtual block party dropping down wherever its cuts are playing.

adryiano richter aka adryiano first came onto the scene in 2012 with an acclaimed release on soul notes, since then he’s focussed on building his own cestraw imprint, as well as crafting and developing on his sound. this four track ep features jazz fuelled, sample heavy cuts, perfectly suited for the dancefloor. housed in full sleeve artwork sleeve, with disco bag inner.

22.02.85 is the new album from bastien keb. initially conceived as a concept album about a stripper lost in the city (like a straight-to-video follow up to showgirls), 22.02.85 has a distinctly nocturnal edge to it. the city at night, lost in a crowd, abandoned petrol stations, empty kebab shops, broken florescent lights. like a half-forgotten dream, familiar yet unnerving. he says all the songs are all about girls apart from two about a big lug. you may catch a phrase here and there but the context is all in the feel: there s a melancholy edge, but i don t wanna depress people. sad but hopeful? if that s possible.

embodying a pure devotion to syncopation and dub, and carrying the torch for innovation, collaboration, and bass here in portland, gulls kicks off our new dj music label common language. we sought a record that could bravely blend techno, funk, dub, cumbia, and sound collage into one set of moves. only gulls could fulfill this mission, with bass as the glue in the collage. -eastwood bounce- and -system pools (shock version)- hold down the dub continuum, where -in these times- and -up clean sound- offer syncopated, globally minded un-techno, again run through the gulls dub blender. an endlessly chewy, layered sound is his signature, each track a showcase for contrast between glassy or globular timbres. as one of his few official gulls releases outside of his own label, we are proud to bring this definitive and complete set of tunes in a -something for everyone- 4-song ep format.

finnitus is back with its first 12- release! spanning the entire a side, superkind, consisting of rulefinn and kim durbeck, delivers a driving disco bass line, epic strings and screaming laughter, which the glue dubbed as the weirdest thing we ve heard in our entire lives . on the flip, rulefinn drops just try , a nine minute slow jam, slowly building to a climax worthy of finishing your perfect night at the club, and let the ok music play , an intense disco drum tool in his favourite bpm range(130s).

to wrap up 2016, true romance unleashes one more disco stunner. this time the fabulous three tracks 12 comes from the classically trained yet funky to the bone: phil gerus. the russian producer has been a rising force of the modern disco movement with releases on futureboogie, sonar kollektiv, thugboat edits to name a few. the make time ep, his first offering on true romance, confirms gerus is here to stay. the a side, she is wearing her black boots again, is meant to played very loud and very late in a dark smoke-filled room. its a raw thumper with a thick post-disco bass line, robotic italo synth, dreamy chopped up vocals all layered with catchy mysterious chords. the flipside starts with the irresistible make time, a groovy number with loopy funk guitars, soulful vocals and infectious keys that will stick to you like glue. for the grande finale, gerus serves us detective from kamakura: a gritty electronic funk track with banging percussions and delirious moans that will keep you awake until the break of dawn.
