producer and dj from cantabria pablo bolívar signs the new release in his very own seven villas. in which he takes the chance to interpret --remixwise-- the tracks on the album traverse -by sensual physics which was originally released in 7v in 2016.
we are facing a very special project for pablo bolívar this time. his admiration for the veteran german producer joerg schuster -one of pablo s musical heroes- gets highly reflected in each one of the eight revisions which form this traverse (reprise) . what pablo exactly does is to respect the original escapist. dubby and ambient spirit of the original trip proposed by traverse . by means of adding a soft. deep and sophisticated club aura. he turn that the album sensual physics takes into the most characteristic bolívar style is tasteful and subtle. therefore it seems a sequel of the original one. no crashes. no harshness. here everything flows simply in a natural way. especially that ambient-deep and tech fog which just adds a punch in any case. tunes as mondragon . málaga or miracle -among others- acquire a new dimension when touched by pablo bolívar s hands: always looking to their origin with respect to the original producer and the delicacy of a revised piece of work.

something from nothing is a four tracker that fuses techno sensibility with house swagger. a voice calling to detroits second wave while a hand beckons the shadowy waters of house. hearts of darkness are immersed in late nights and smoke-filled basements. with past form seeing them play fabric and bugged out! an unhealthy loyalty to vintage hardware and long forgotten code means their music is analogue. not for fashion. but because it feels right. on the a.sequential circus is purest machine funk as a driving bass bubbles into self-oscillation. next. just on for the ride bounces to a millennial deep house swing. flip it for a dense future dub workout in charlie don t surf. then hotshot closes with a pad soaked vibe for the discerning warm up. a melting pot ep with all the right ingredients. something from nothing opens the door to hearts of darkness. step inside
for his maiden voyage through space. shan (victor shan. if it matters to you. and it should) offers good to me. a pair of revelatory dancefloor productions inspired by many a long night and early morning spent at the legendary frankfurt institution robert johnson. a finely-tuned specimen of durable. architectural sampling. the 12” title track runs a rigorous course of breakbeat rhythms and classic chords while a diva’s pleas are made and answered within seven minutes of perfect primetime rave. on the flip. shan churns through metallic stabs and primed drum sequences for the devious “version 1.” shan spent close to four years perfecting “version 1” through various dancefloor demos. no more evident than in the stunning arc of this sought after jam.

chairlift present takes on several cuts from acclaimed second album >something< by some of their favorite producers. showcasing how their songs can easily be adapted for the club. appropriately titled the 6.15amix. spanish equipo fantástico john talabot and pional turn >i belong in your arms< into a balearica-infused club-closer. a nifty piano line and seductive rhythm take the song on a late night (or rather early morning) trip to the beach. while carolines voice is being warped into something from outer space. photek takes the same track to a whole different place with his powerful jungle interpretation. martyn respects both the pace and rhythm of sidewalk safari. yet exchanges the clean production for a rather more cosmic beat. incorporating many of his signature touches to compliment the sinister >i m gonna hunt you down< lyric. dan careys dub mix of >sidewalk safari< shows a more playful side. while arguably the most intriguing remix of the package is the fields take on >met before<. recalling his early work it is so warped and layered you may struggle to imagine the original minus the smallest of hints.

the music has come into my life when i was about 9 years old. thanks to one of my sisters tape with songs by bob marley and the wailers. so i switched from reggae to dub. from dub to jazz. from jazz to radical improvisation in a moment.now i m 33. and after producing pretty much any kind of music. i want to put together what i still like of dub music with that of the south of europe. which is the place where i grew up. melting everything together with vintage equipments and working with modern machines at the same time. playing and producing this music has been therapeutic for my head. making all this known is for me like seeding again the love for music without any distinction. andrea gabriele 1981 - 2015
