Landing as Gene Tellem s first record, -Who Says No- is a product of change. New relationships and collaborations emerged out of a time when familiar spaces in Montreal were disappearing. This state of ambiguity, and improvisation inspired the freeform structures and subtle transformations heard in these tracks. While -Moving In This Way- and the title tune push forward with intention, -Soul Of Man- floats between lush drones, a pitch bent lead, and a pair of haunting chords. -We were all being tested in different ways, and trying to figure out what would happen next...-
