northern disco general and machine music lover craig bratley is back with a firing new ep on his own magic feet label. it features one track from him with danielle moore from crazy p, plus a remix from andrew weatherall and one from heretic. bratley operates on the freakier end of the disco dancefloor, with weird electronics and raw jacking grooves propping up his analogue sounds. he has released on andrew weatherall s bird scarer, has put out a fine album on tsuba and hosts his own kaleidoscopic show on leeds kmah radio, so is an accomplished artist and dj indeed.

those familiar with the world of dub disco and modern balearica should know all about layne fox, a san francisco-based producer who has released some killer records over the last decade as part of noted collective 40 thieves. the bay area ensemble has been responsible for some killer records, including gems on rong music and leng, who released their expansive debut album the sky is yours back in 2014. now, fox has decided to go it alone for an outing on magic feet that marks his first solo outing since 2005 s move me under the tuffy alias. its something of a gem, too, effortlessly combining many of his familiar influences with nods towards druggy italo-disco and horizontal pop.

up next on craig bratleys magic feet label is the vanity ep. this release is aimed at the vinyl completist and features four remixes which have so far been unreleased or received a digital release. the ep contains three remixes by craig, catalepsis *quartz giaponese*, the souls *tonight* and four walls *no use* as well as the sought after sean johnston remix of *obsession*.

next up on magic feet is a release by dark strands. tonys first release came via the first magic feet label sampler. since then his releases have caught the attention of a number of acclaimed djs, with daniel avery citing one of tonys tracks as one of the best he had heard last year. this is tonys first full vinyl release and shows exactly what he is capable of. the title track *return of the oscillator* has had people running to the booth every time its been played from london to croatia, as well as being fully road tested at alfos by sean johnston who also provides a superb remix under his hardway bros guise. the second track *galactic* slows the pace down and is perfect for those warm up sets.

the second release from swedens tommy awards is another essential 4 track ep. side a continues from where the first ep left off, with two tracks of blissful balearic vibes. if you liked land of lights recent release then this should definitely appeal to you. side b reveals another side to tommy awards and shows the guys are no slouch when it comes to producing in the electronic realm, employing vintage synths and drum machines to create gale force, the ballad of the wind. for the final track, is it balearic head honchos coyote take on the difficult task of remixing last years classic, blind andy, and come out victorious, adding elements of acid and making the track altogether deeper. is it summer yet?

magic feet introduce three new artists on their first label sampler, as well as a remix from label owner craig bratley. the tracks cover various genres, taking their inspiration from house, italo, new beat and disco. first up is paresse, an alias of swedish producer ivan bergren. *the night before you came* is a hypnotic, evolving slice of future disco. craig bratleys remix shows craig indulging in his obsession with the world of analogue synths and sees the track taking in a deeper and darker direction. craig has also had a hand in editing *lost era* by kepier on the flipside, a track with a direct lineage to the belgian new beat sound. to round off the ep, we have soul tension, an alias of tony beardsley, who also produces as dark strands. *suburban life* is a superb take on the slo-mo techno sound.

no use is the first collaboration between long time friends and house music veterans steve conry and iain macpherson. and their fine debut >no use< is the first release on what promises to be a quality outlet magic feet. the original mix is a warm, mid-tempo, acid laced house throbber, perfect for those early hours sessions. taking care of the remixes are craig bratley (instruments of rapture, foto recordings) who amps up the atmospherics, makes the whole thing a little chunkier while adding some space to the whole affair. finally ooft! step up with a rolling and mesmerizing electronic house workout high quality and a stunning debut.
