it is something of tradition for tosca to get their albums remixed. indeed, they once released a record comprised entirely of 13 mixes ofone song, 2002s *different tastes of honey*, variations on *honey* from 1999s *suzuki*. it is a way of keeping things fresh, injecting someuncertainty into proceedings, knocking things out of balance in order to check how they should be re-aligned. after releasing *odeon* earlier this year, tosca comes back with *tlapa - the odeon remixes*. *tlapa* meaning, this life arouses pure adventure. the remixes come from bredon moeller, joyce muniz, siler city, ltj experience, beat pharmacy, marlow & truby, sephane lefrancois, afg aka antye greie and rodney hunter. the double vinyl comes with a cd-copy included.

rundum-sorglos-groove-paket zum zur�cklehnen und genie§en. re-release von 2000. sei es mit peter kruder als kruder & dorfmeister oder rupert huber als tosca, wenn richard dorfmeister seine finger im spiel bzw. an den reglern hat, darf man sich auf entspannt-fluffige kl�nge zwischen trip-hop, dub und downtempo einrichten. tosca wurde 1994 gegr�ndet, erstaunlicherweise schon kurz nach dem start von k&d. ihr deb�t gaben tosca 1997 mit -opera-. dessen nachfolger -suzuki- kam im jahr 2000 in die l�den. beide alben erschienen bei !k7 und g-stone, dem label von peter kruder und richard dorfmeister. -suzuki- hat nichts mit kleinen japanischen autos oder monsterbikes zu tun, vielmehr versteht sich die ver�ffentlichung als hommage an den zen-meister shunryu suzuki. das album enth�lt in der cd-version zw�lf und in der vinyl-ausgabe neun instrumentaltracks, in die vocal-samples instrumentenartig eingeflochten wurden. vielen fans des �sterreichischen duos gilt -suzuki- mit seinen -hypnotic, deeply chilled-out epics- (allmusic) als dessen beste einspielung. die neuauflage von -suzuki- ist die erste seit 2000.

the �vince montana tribute� (louie vega and rick wilhite from detroit rework) is a heartfelt and masterful production in which 2021 grammy award nominee louie demonstrates his appreciation for the disco sounds that he grew up on in the iconic borough of bronx, nyc. the inspiration came about through an edit rick sent to louie. louie added some of his own editing touches, and the resulting track got big response whenever louie played it at his headlining sets. given louie�s longtime love and respect for vince montana, he decided to create an even bigger musical project. bringing in elements of life band members gene perez (bass), axel tosca (fender rhodes) and luisito quintero (congas), and then adding a piano line himself, louie was able to bring out the most authentic disco elements of this superlative groove but rework them so they are exactly in the pocket for today�s dancefloors worldwide.

one of detroits true talents today, amp fiddler joins forces with grammy winner louie vega hitting you with some funk deep house on vega records. amp fiddler is the quintessential singer / musician who has played in the seminal band parliament with george clinton, and has had his own band for years now. louie has always wanted to work with amp since first meeting him at the montreaux jazz festival when amp and his band and elements of life were on the same bill on the worldwide stage. finally coming together, amp reaches out to louie for a remix and the result is a beautiful soulful song written and produced by amp fiddler. the remixes by louie vega combining deep house sounds with the funk synths played by axel tosca. there�s one version where amp did more lead vocal overdubs and adlibs, as well a funktified synth solo version which gets immediate response when played. the four versions on 12� vinyl lend itself to different moods and are sure to bring you a dancefloor or house party on fire!

the new york-based (u)nity is made up of michael valeanu, axel tosca laugart, chris smith, max cudworth and amaury acosta. they formed the band in 2006 as a project to explore afro-cuban jazz, funk, soul and contemporary electronica. they say they ve been influenced by everyone from chucho valdes to art blakey to led zeppelin to kendrick lamar, and you can definitely hear all of that in this jawdropping work. guarapachanga is special in that it was the first song written by the band back in their days as music students at the new school. it s derived from the style known as guarapachangeo the most advanced form of cuban rumba, heavily improvisational and based on very complex rhythms and melodies. on this recording, (u)nity is graced with a guest performance by grammy award winner pedrito martinez, a master rumbero, one of the greatest conga players ever, an innovator who has left a permanent mark on cuban music. martinez is also a priest in the yoruba religion and a historian of cuban culture. over its eight and a half minutes, guarapachanga twists and turns and journeys through a mind bending array of different tempos and modes, from latin jazz to hip hop, ultimately ending with a trippy ambient soundscape. the whole thing is overlaid with free spirited melody, soul and the afro-cuban essence that is the bands lifeblood. the white-hot live playing gives it the feel of the best early-morning jam session, yet it packs a sonic punch that will make it sound incredible on a good sound system in the hands of adventurous djs in the world-beat or spiritual-house vein. if you didnt know guarapachanga was a contemporary work you might mistake it for a loft classic, yet it s also as fresh and exciting as anything you ll hear this year.
