-introducing basic vision, a new imprint releasing a vinyl series of rare classics from the legendary back to basics club. selected and compiled by the man who played the first ever record at the club, original resident dj ralph lawson, on this release joined by long term resident tristan da cunha on selection duties. all the tracks are cut to vinyl from the original master recordings and given enough time on high quality vinyl to ensure clean, loud pressings with original artwork by the godfather of punk design - jamie reid. the artwork spans across 4 records, which collected together will make the compete picture. basic vision 003 heavily features the birthplace of house, chicago, with a selection of rare cuts that always move the dance-floor. the highly sought after og freak mix of cassio ware - i wanna see you dance rocks the spot on the a side. this is the original black house version and not the remixes or re-edits that can be found. mark grant and cajmere only made one record together as the chicago connection and it was a true bomb. mint copies go for l75 but cajmere s remix is included here and cut loud from the original master recording.

paper tree sneaked out into the world for a moment a few years back and then vanished. lee burridge loved the track so much that he continued to harass rebelski, sometimes standing outside his window in the flower bed, for weeks on end until he finally agreed to let lee release it on all day i dream. not content with a single track lee went back to rebelskis garden and tapped on the window repeatedly until he agreed to make some more beautiful tracks. obviously pestering producers in this manner bares fruit. the paper tree ep ranges from a beautiful solitary solo piano piece that wouldn t be amiss in a british period piece drama where someone dies unexpectedly leaving the survivors to deal with it, all the while maintaining their stiff upper lip. fly the kite made us want to go outside and do just that. so we did. it was epic. circles and squares joins paper tree as one of those dance floor moments best experienced with ones eyes closed. myriad is the sound of a young lady robots jewelry box (yes, we predict robots will be wearing jewelry in the future) that she(bot) pines to hear when she s all grown up and rusty. omoshiroi is, well, its just so damn pretty. good work rebelski. good work.

endlich erscheint das lang erwartete neue album der erfolgreichen us-amerikanischen reggae/rock-band rebelution bei easy star records. in den usa füllt die band mittlerweile große hallen, hierzulande gelten sie noch als geheimtipp. nach 12-jähriger bandgeschichte mit über 350.000 unabhängig verkauften alben wirkt das neue album kraftvoller als je zuvor. seit dem release ihres vorgängeralbums -count me in-, welches platz eins der billboard reggae charts und sogar platz 21 der offiziellen us billboard charts belegte, tourte die band um eric rachmany (gesang/gitarre), rory carey (keyboard), wesley finley (schlagzeug) und marley d. williams (bass) unermüdlich über alle kontinente. das album entstand unter mithilfe eines all-star produzententeams, darunter dwayne -supa dups- chin-quee (bruno mars, eminem), sam hollander (train, fitz and the tantrums), yeti beats (los rakas und rebelution vorgängeralben) und donovan -don corleon- bennett (rihanna, sean paul, vybz kartel).

roots for bloom label boss jamie trench kicks off the label offshoot rfbcolours with a collaboration ep alongside rebel. the a side tracks come from jamie himself. -good love- has a stripped back garage feel with a jacking and filtered vocal carrying it, then stapled brings things across with a more techno feel with strong stabs and background drifting chords. the b side is where we see rebel s input, with the rolling and infectious in the end . the groove is again stripped back and simple but it s this that carries the vocal that demands your attention. the two then pair up for we don t fly first class and it s apparent to hear in the track where the two come together well. this one is driven by a huge sub bass line and simple stabs and talking and seductive vocal lines.

michael jansons and rebel reveal their mechanical hearts with their built by robots ep, which has its sights aimed firmly at the future. jansons has already made his mark on lower east with two already cult slices of modern day house, the anthemic i know youre feeling ok and the more recent club hit addiction

sometimes, things can be worth waiting for, and the rift valley by rebelski is a project that has lingered in the cadenza psyche (and record boxes) for well over a year. already a staple in the dj sets of luciano and other cadenza personnel, the piece finally gets a full release with remixes from lee van dowski, and luciano himself this summer.

four up-and-coming artists appear on shag edits volume 2 which is kick-started by rebels *you somebodies*, a bassy piece of looping filter house meant for peak time play. newcomer riri throws down jazzy horns, marching snares and acoustic rimshots in a slow moving *get it on*, while chockys *i like* features cut vocals caught between interchanging melodies of pulsating rhythms. jamie trench, responsible for the labels first ep, delivers sexy vocals in *locks, frocks & 2 floating sparrows*, a laid back disco joint with the same summery vibe as barmy miami night.

what happens if you ask two up and coming and highly talented uk producers to create a track for local talk, then get a hyped house duo from manchester to remix it? you get the bitter love ep from the true rebels together with a fierce remix from deep space orchestra. its two very different takes in both tempo and energy. the original version is a battle of piano stabs with a bouncy yet filthy bassline that results in midtempo house burner with a slight techy feel. the deep space orchestra remix takes us straight to detroit, fusing classic techno sounds together with modern house.

the title track is a fast paced latin breakbeat powerhouse with some string stabs and a huge grime breakdown. love & tango finds tango rhythms duking it out with breaks, cumbia thump is a laidback cumbia dub mash up and tropical flute smoothie is a sexy latin tune feat karina nistal. get it!
