despite his low profile, ken karter might be one of berlin s most influential artists in the techno scene. karter is known as a mastering engineer for the seminal m_rec ltd, however his own productions have gone largely unnoticed until his 2015 ep on stroboscopic artefact�s monad series. his ep turned heads and gained him well-deserved attention. two years later, his follow-up ep on escapism exemplifies his focus on quality over quantity. his passion for mathematical formulas combined with his intricate knowledge of sound created an outstanding record set to satisfy both fans of experimental and dancefloor techno.

rotterdam based duo arkvs release �oppression� ep through the prruk black series. the result is an exciting package of futuristic techno sounds and searing drums. the duo has managed to find a perfectly executed trip throughout the different sides of arkvs. while the general tone is darkish throughout, there are some uplifting atmospheres and hints of hope to be found in this package. while the title track is a thumping piece of dancefloor techno, the cinematic voyage �our deepest fear� is a stand-out production of adventurous electronics. on the b-side we find �chose to defy�, which is a tough work of dark techno and the somewhat more mellow �nonviolence� on which an intrusive bassline is combined with some beautiful synth sounds.

aula magna records presents atmen by mekas, a storming record that reveals the artist s latest techno explorations in full effect, featuring stockholm ltd label boss par grindvik as guest remixer. a techno statement shaped by melodic and rhythmic interactions that draw the listener into the artist�s profound sound world.

rekids celebrates 10 years of radio slave�s �grindhouse� with remixes from len faki, slam, obscure shape & shdw, vatican shadow, markus suckut, lady starlight and special request. first appearing on a release as part of radio slave�s iconic �no sleep� series, �grindhouse� spawned multiple remixes from the likes of dubfire, danton eeprom, terrance fixmer and nic fanciulli to become one of the biggest techno records since its original release. to commemorate this fact, len faki has produced two different reinterpretations in the first of four heavyweight remix packages.
�i didn�t plan to go back to grindhouse. it�s a monster of a record and undoubtedly the biggest release we�ve had on the label, but after 10 years it seems right to revisit the track and also add some new versions from some of my favourite techno producers.- � radio slave with danton eeprom�s vocal resonating throughout, faki�s first remix features crunchy snares, ominous chords and shuffling effects before piercing synths come into effect in the latter half. meanwhile, the second version rumbles forward with its undulating bassline, soaring atmospherics and echoing elements to round up two solid productions exemplary of the figure founder�s seasoned abilities in the studio.

delsin records inertia series is back with a powerful four tracker from yan cook. the producer from ukraine has also released delsin s main label and associated ann aimee, as well as planet rhythm and cooked. he makes straight up techno that arrests your attention and does just that again here. toucan is first and is a spangled, underwater techno track with gurgling lines wrapping round shuffling percussion and insistent drums. it s one to get into your head, while puffin is more physical, with more warped synths and paddy drums woven together into a fluid, rippling groove that never lets up. the drums on dialogue are deep and land with real resonance while dubby chords rattling out to the horizon. last of all flamingo is the most manic of the lot, with hi speed synths and booming drums all coming together to make for powerful, sub shaking and room filling techno madness.

tidy line-up including randomer, gilbr, voiski and tolouse low trax. tip! in terms of experimental, techno, very few come close to the impact that this uk producer has had on the scene. with a sound that is rarely classifiable, randomer�s dekmantel contribution is a staggered, minimally-twisted, dark, kind-of-two step, awesome thing. versatile records� gilb�r has found himself an integral part of the dutch scene since moving to amsterdam, and brings forth his organic, percussive grooves that have helped define his music, and label to date. salon des amateurs� tolouse low trax provides a seasoned session of amniotic, grizzled, hypnotic post-everything music, that is eerily discomforting and wonderfully pleasurable at the same time. and on the ep�s fourth track, parisian techno wizard, voiski adds layered organic, futuristic loops that work to stale the progress of time, and space.

do yourself a favour and dance across the floor when listening to the new jacob korn-record, aptly titled son of gx. the music is heavily based on the good old yamaha electone organ. the home organ for the world s gentlemen was modified by jacob himself and is now an integral part of his studio. as you ll hear it on the ep, it injects a decent dose of fun into jacob s vision of house music. at least, you will instantly notice that when listening to singlefinger chord, a track that conquers the floor with its disco elements. rumours say that jacob s cat toddled on his poor man s yamaha cs80 when producing cats on organs. if that s true, the cat provided an irresistible hook to an already slamming, italo-inspired track. son of gx is every bit as compelling as the first two tracks with its synth trumpet glory while the slighty darker fun blocks sustains us with heavy percussion works straight out of the yamaha electone organ. on top, you ll get a remix for singlefinger chord by new york s jacques renault (let s play house) as digital bonus.

this autumn, wah wah 45s are very proud to present their latest signing, an outfit who ve garnered huge praise from jools holland, are darlings of the guardian s music reviews pages, and have set festivals alight up and down the country with their unique melange of sounds. for a good few years, honeyfeet has been a conduit for the ideas and expressions of an exotic mixture of manchester based musicians. jazz? yes, some of that! folk? stick that in there! hip-hop? i thought you d never ask! someone once called it folk-hop and barrelhouse-pop, and that s just vague enough to make sense. it helps that they are fronted by ríoghnach connolly, real world s newest signing and -a remarkable singer and flautist who can ease from irish traditional influences to soul- (the guardian). this extraordinary band s debut single for wah wah 45s, sinner, was originally affectionately known as boingy squelch, after the unconventional sounds trombonist biff roxby used in his early demos. ríoghnach conveys the story of a woman who never intends on staying at home -chained to the sink- - -i may be a sinner, but i m not a slave-. in that way, the song is a rejection of outdated, traditional roles. since their previous album, 2013 s it s a good job i love you, keyboardist john ellis jumped on board as full-time member, bringing his unique musical presence. this enabled the development of a more texturally adventurous style, as witnessed with the dual atonal solo between himself and guitarist ellis davies on sinner. similarly, for their next lp, orange whip, engineer, bassist and spiritual guide lorien edwards makes his honeyfeet recording debut, so completing the -kitchen- of this very special band. sinner is released on limited 7- vinyl (100 copies only!) on october 20th and comes complete with a woozy, low slung club-friendly mix from former innocent sorcerer, polish dj and producer envee. the album, orange whip, will be released on wah wah 45s in the summer of 2018.

kalita records release their first in a series of coveted reissues, starting with the three choice cuts from nst cophie s 1980 private press ivory coast afro-disco album mon da center. after moving to paris in 1976 and having played with other well-known bands such as n bamina, osibisa, and with numerous artists including jimmy hyacinthe and papa wemba, mon da center was ernest s first solo album. recorded at studio caroline in paris s 20th sector over the space of one week, this self-funded ultra-rare album regularly exchanges hands for eye-watering prices. pretty much unknown except to the most hardened of diggers, bian kou , e clolo and mioukouna are guaranteed to set any dance floor alight, with hypnotic afro-disco grooves, killer drums and angelic female vocals.
