there arenÕt many artists that can lay claim to having put out records on labels as divergent as rough trade and john talabotÕs hivern discs. perhaps this is because few artists express such genuine diversity in their musical tastes and creative explorations as david kitt. since the turn of the decade as new jackson he has mined a seam of driving, ghostly house to run parallel with his solo strand of ambient folk electronica. his debut release in 2011 the night mail on pogo channeled early record collection heroes aphex twin and orbital through to drexciya and projekt pm but had one foot firmly in the 21st century beaming in like some futuristic cyberballad. on the flip side hussle free had that mix of house and boogie sensibilities with dark and dusty synths and vocoder that would become a signature. this was followed by acclaimed releases on hivern, permanent vacation, major problems, apartment and most recently cin cin. his debut album set for release on all city in may was recorded in kittÕs bedroom studio overlooking dublin bay, its nocturnal hues very much a product of the nightshift often working on headphones with the rest of his housemates fast asleep. it takes full advantage of the scope of the lp format, ebbing and flowing between deep house club ready gems and more restrained and meditative beatless moments for the morning after. the recording process yielded many eureka moments with kitt finally nailing sounds that had hitherto proved elusive.

for organ and brass is comprised of two works by the stockholm-based composer ellen arkbro. both works focus on tuning, intonation and harmonic modulation. in previous projects, arkbro composed for early music ensembles, wrote a series of durational pieces utilising synthetic tones and processed guitars, and, most recently, presented a work lasting 26 days at the stockholm concert hall. for organ and brass looks back to arkbroÕs studies in just intonation with la monte young, marian zazeela, and their disciple jung hee choi in new york, as well as with kindred spirit marc sabat in berlin.

the band scarletts fall is a duo formed in 2014 by ruth childs (british-american performance artist and singer based in geneva) and ste?phane vecchione (swiss performance artist and musician based in lausanne). they define themselves as dirty-girlie-kitchen-pop mixing catchy melodies and repetitive looping with fragile vocals and provocative texts. out of their playfully ironic and poetic universe you can ear shades of can, broadcast and young marble giants.

having come up with an annual-ish drop of 12inches since 2010, even brenden aka chmmr set aside the spring of 2016 to challenge himself to a new format: a full-length album. a true nostalgic, he uses compass point-era and early italo sounds for inspiration and attempts to simulate these styles. this makes for a melodic, chuggy and graphic album that belongs a little more in the living room than on the dance floor. with 10 tracks of dusty rhythms and the honest, naive and spacious themes that is brendenÕs signature, its a record designed to signal that todays technological future may not be as different as yesterdays. features a nice-looking cover painting drawn by the late harold cohenÕs aaron program - automation at its finest. hidden behind his chmmr moniker is even brenden, whose summery debut found its way into the world via norwegian psych-disco label luna flicks in 2010. the record became somewhat of a soughtafter item and after making pit stops at relish, d¿dpop and untz untz records, he landed on prins thomas full pupp in 2014 and have stayed put ever since, all the while enjoying a steady habit of record jocking and the occasional keyboard duty in telephones now-defunct live band. even resides in oslo makes odd waves without vowels.

psychedelic new jazz trio, pioneers in the tel aviv music scene, mainly by introducing through this band a brand new sound, blending jazz with rock and electronics. guitarist/pedal master yonatan albalak, drummer/producer aviv cohen (aka sol monk) and bass player gilad abro, are all well-known jazz-oriented musicians, constantly performing around the world with various projects. the three create under the name of layerz since 2010. things on top of each other is their second album, written and recorded during a 3 days session in the studio. it feels like a natural progression from memory tower their first album recorded in 2012. this album has a distinctly more beats-oriented approach. guests in the album are pianist nitai hershkovits, vocalist kerendun and vocalist marina maximilian blumin.

when the gaming laws changed in jamaica in 1970, the hookim brothers joseph joe joe and ernest, who ran jukebox and one armed bandit distribution, decided it was time to expand their empire. they would build their own recording studio in the heart of kingstons ghetto land on maxfield avenue. the name would become legendary in the reggae world - >channel 1 studios< was born. this set of classic unreleased dubs comes from the in-house session band the revolutionaries , produced by the great bunny striker lee.

with his third album vin ploile the bucharest, romania based producer, musician and dj petre in-spirescu captured a whole new audience in 2015 and reached out with minimal leftfield ambient sounds to music loving folks, that are not part of the world-wide dance music universe. well known as one of the key figures of the romanian electronic dance music scene since his first ep tips on lucianos label cadenza, inspirescu stepped away from club sounds that made him famous due to releases on labels like vinyl club, lick my deck or amphia.

after their first (very) successful album, cassius decided not to rely on their natural ability to make us dance to their groovy basslines, and came back with a daring project: integrate some mostly african-american influenced singings in their compositions to give electronic music a new dimension. dont worry, the catchy-rythmic sound of cassius is still here. you might recognise the voice of ghostface killah, one of wu tang clans members that delivers a punchy performance on the upbeat tempo track thrilla, as well as steve edwards, the house music singer who sang with swedish producer axwell, and whos also known for having lent his voice to bob sinclar on the famous world, hold on. were releasing the album once more, so that you can get back into the fabulous swing of cassius.

this repress comes as a jewelcase single cd version. a project that came to life fuelled by collectorsÕ obsession and a lifelong willingness to dive head- first into unknown musical wormholes, miles whittaker and sean canty have never been defined by a singular musical trajectory. their opening salvo of releases dabbled with the aesthetic of the occult and provided an alternate, parallax view of the italian library records with which they were both obsessed at the time, but as their long running mixtape series and brilliantly curated dds label attest, their interests extend far outside the crevices of early electronic music and into dance music, dancehall, roots, jungle, techno, industrial, noise and beyond. while 2013Õs testpressing series provided an outlet for mostly club-based productions shot from the hip, wonderland has been constructed with a narrative in mind. from the clipped hardstyle of the opening curzon, through the jaunty dancehall mutations of animal style and fulledge, exotica/house refractions on hardnoise, the frankly ridiculous, bassbin destroying jungle ructions on sourcer, or the extended tease of overstaying, itÕs probably the most enjoyable and loose-limbed hour of music in their catalogue, or that youÕll likely hear in these weird, angst-ridden times.

hotflush are proud to introduce an exciting young artist, pyur, along with her singular debut lp epoch sinus. despite her relative newness, pyur meets the world with fully formed and unique signatures in both visual and sonic work, revealing a deep artistry that transcends medium. growing up in munich, in and amongst the same fecund scene that spawned artists like the zenker brothers and skee mask, pyur cut her teeth from a young age as a guitarist and singer before becoming spellbound by the electronic worldÕs endless scope for sound design. endowed with innately strong synaesthesia and reared in a shamanic household, she tells how music Òplayed the biggest role in my growth. it alone had the purpose to help me dissolve boundaries, discover the beauty of lifeÕs mechanisms, create freely. it talked. soon i felt like the music was making me, not the other way round.Ó epoch sinus is a seamless and heartfelt whole, a life-like being unto itself, describing the disintegration of barriers between the self and the all. here pyur offers an intimate and personal statement, combining knowledge of universal harmony with electronic music. she states: Òi m mainly influenced by my inner visions and nature itself, yet also a lot from club culture, which is undoubtedly an important space of connection and freedom for so many people. the record dances playfully between supposedly incompatible qualities: moments of brutality turn to softness, new life embraces decomposition, while explosive rhythmic and melodic structures are tempered with gentle and subtle percussion.
