adam jay’s “mediastinum ep” is the product of a near death experience turned into an opportunity to create. after experiencing acute trauma to the left lung, the artist was diagnosed with pneumomediastinum, the sounds featured in the production of this record were recorded in the intensive care unit at community east hospital in indianapolis. “inward” is a raw, stripped down stomper filled with anxiety and a pace of purpose. the a2 track, “terrible precision” brings an atmosphere of tension and darkness that drives the ep forward. the synth groove of “chatter” sits atop the recordings of medical monitoring equipment intended to alarm the listener. the unsettling dischord created is contrasted by a powerful low end groove. “concert of the machines” comes with an addictive half time broken beat groove. the warm, effected electric piano work plays off more alert sounds from the hospital room creating a chilled out vibe that is ideal for closing a set. already support from justin berkovi, nigel richards, gayle san, tony rohr, andrei morant, and brian kage.

slag is a live techno band consisting of equal parts musicians and djs. the four experienced men draw on their experience from record shops dance floors and film-/ theater-music and have the common passion for techno in their neural pathways. with the passion for electronic music and classic synthesizers, they created a sound black as oil and white as freshly fallen snow. the band varies their performance with a large portion jam elements and makes their live shows tension filled in both club and concert performances. a concert by fire slag starts in the deepest dub and ends in a furious techno ballad.

willie burns and aroy dee on remix duty ... golden combo! sequencias is slowly building their profile with their outsider house,acid and chicago rooted tracks. hailing from new york, just as likeminded labels wt records and l.i.e.s., sequencias is delivering the goods! another place, another time is an epic track and willie burns stepped over his shadow. trippy and full of tension, slow building without taking the paved path. killer track! we could say the same on the aroy dee remix, however he is going more in the chicago direction and with adding dramatic strings. truly epic!

the a side arbitrary stakes out its intentions early with a solid groove and dubbed out stabs. a little vocal in the main breakdown increases the tension before it all kicks back in with a reassuring thud. on the flip galaxy high is equally deep but opts for some juno chords and soaring strings to bring it life. finally on lgb some 80s soul samples are worked in to a slightly tougher electronic jam.

sev dah makes his debut on komisch with three unique club tracks. the mysterious producer has been making waves with releases on naked index and gynoid, but he has reserved his most individualistic music for komisch. lead track otit revolves around a surging, powerful bass and subtle metallic percussion. its a prelude for a doomy synth line that gives the track an intangibly eerie feeling. on the flip, disciple is led by heavy claps and a more stepping rhythm, but the lunging bass and eerie synths ensure that itll have maximum impact in a club. >tension< also travels a less obvious route thanks to its offbeat rhythm. but its beats are stomping and the dark, churning filter, coupled with sev dahs haunting synths, means its getting support acoss the board

dj nature aka milo steps uponce again to the indispensable golf channel label, with his eagerly awaited debut artist album comprising all original material. a founding member of legendary bristol sound-system collective the wild bunch (which spawned massive attack, tricky and much more), nature made nyc his home in the early 90s & went on to collaborate with the major force crew in japan, before hooking up with gc boss phil south, who thankfully persuaded him to don his production cap once again. there followed a series of acclaimed 12 inch releases through gc which developed a trademark sound, a sound he’s fully realised on >return of the savage<. natures unique take on modern black music is somewhere between the bass heavy sound system cuts on which he cut his teeth and the more nuanced vibe of peers like theo parrish. irresistible, low slung and beautifully structured yet raw club pieces make up this outstanding selection - a superbly packaged gatefold double lp, complete with download codes for individual tracks as well as the mixed version.

for signal life #03, we teamed up two young vigorous south londoners: mr. louis carnell, known by his moniker visionist, and mr. marco giuliani, who works under the alias last japan. >control this< by visionist combines his background in south london grime with his signature drum machine template and lo-fi vocal excerpts into a coherent mesh. our favourite visionist track to date! when we first heard >storm trooper< by last japan, it was the tension we got caught up in. the song is focused with a clear direction, uncommon in most young talent, armed with a driving snare-fill rhythm reminiscent of south rap and all that exiting stuff in the 160 bpm. i believe murky is the correct term. we predict interesting things for mr. giuliani.

interstellar ep by label boss deepbass showcases more of informas modern sci-fi sound. two original tracks of hypnotic, atmospheric techno which capture the feeling of travelling through the depths of space. on the first remix we have psyk (non series, mote-evolver) who takes the track to the next level with an intense feel of uplifting tension. our second remix is by nax_acid (aconitio records) who provides a much deeper beautiful remix which takes you even further into the interstellar.

nice price deal !!! nice price deal !!! slams rtm project starts with a bang! the pimp convention is packed with the swinging percussion that slam do so well. winding around this rhythm is a hypnotic hook and swaggering vocal sample that adds a delicate touch of uneasy tension, while chest thumping sub bass underpins all. slam are back in the house. the sides collide slows the tempo and darkens the groove. an underlying disco influence can be heard in the track, but is brought back down to the undergrowth by a super heavy bassline and creepy, pitched vocal.
