cyber dance records return with a full-length double-vinyl album from manchesters kid machine (aka mark wilkinson) following a string of instantly sold-out eps for viewlexx, red laser and flight recorder. a long-time collaborator of world-famous italo disco dj flemming dalum, it is no surprise that many of the tracks have that hallmark space sound reminiscent of the likes of cyber people and koto, but mark stamps his own distinct identity on the genre by slowing down the bpms and incorporating many other influences throughout so that this is no retro affair but a distinctly fresh and modern take on the genre.

void coms is a label inspired by the work and theories of yves klein. kleins work revolved around a zen influenced concept he came to describe as *le vide* (the void). kleins void is a nirvana-like state that is void of worldly influences, a neutral zone where one is inspired to pay attention to ones own sensibilities, and to reality as opposed to representation. we hope to apply these ideas to the musical and identity approach of the label, letting powerful music speak above persuasive imagery & enticing embellishments.

the recordings for the wires cracked were completed in a frenzied two week period in october of 2012. i had mentioned in discussing a previous albums construction that i prefer to forget how i build any particular electro-acoustic amalgam. this is so that i dont get to precious with them, so that i could refine them further, so that the sounds themselves speak beyond their aggregate parts. with the album being relatively fresh in my mind, i can still recall various components to the wires cracked -- the desolate howl of a metal screen activated by a desert wind, the hissing air compression from the cooling apparatus for a laser at the slac national accelerator laboratory operated by stanford university, and the tremolo rhythms from a thin wire that still get me thinking fondly of günter schickert -- but much of the caustic drone, thrumming reverberation, and tactile grit thoroughly escapes me. that is probably for the best, since these various parts speak to an existential rupturing, the collapse of the self, the aftershocks of dark energy, and a belief in the hope for renewal. tommy walker 3 has been hiding for a while now, after releasing a slew of material in 2008 (including a release on the sadly defunct dissident). now hes back with >dance music clubbing<, and with a name like this youd probably expect this ep to either be a bit off the wall, or unintentionally awful. we are glad to say it fits into the former category, offering an ep of colourful elastic space disco mixed with a more classic vibe. opener >disconnected< sets the tone with its 80s, verging on hair metal guitar riffs. >mwj1< impresses with its almost seinfeld-esque slap bass, and synth piano stabs while >errational< is characterised by its wonky synth melody and spaced-out laser gurgles. finally >v brains< melds driving live bass with huge slabs of cosmic squelch. if you like your disco fierce, this will definitely be worth a look

on their introductory minus ep, click box offers a refreshing return to a bygone era of classic instrumentals, full of experimentation and passion generated by that ongoing love affair between man and machine. berlin shades starts out in a jittery minimal fashion but soon dives much deeper as the tough electro bassline expands and contracts dragging the dancer to and fro. the cascading hook and in-your-face sci-fi synth motif add a sense of tongue-in-cheek drama to a dynamic arrangement that incorporates steep inclines, sharp drops and snaking pathways. as the short staccato bass riff gains momentum and the hook comes round for the second time you just know somethings lying in wait and the boys certainly dont disappoint. lost road is anything but a blind alley, kicking off with some low-slung interplay between a two-note bassline and a whiplash snare that dishes out a serious spanking. hi-hats fizz across the audio spectrum, cleverly pitching up and down before a drunken bass sequence ushers in the main section with its sliding, twisted synth distortions primed for surprise and immediate disorientation. once all the elements are in play, the fun really starts with so many objects of interest competing for attention. the arrangement is pulled and pushed to great effect extracting maximum effect from this tough little unit. more electro flavour to the fore as the loose, broken beat intro and robot sounds of some toys make for some slick moves on the dancefloor. the retro synth riffs and dark spiralling pads conjure up images of some early 80s lab full of computer kids in white coats twiddling knobs on huge mainframe monoliths. the bouncing bass and analogue belches make this a must for all retro-tastic electro-boogie fans. the theme continues over into voxer as rising filtered bass tones playout over another trademark click box drum pattern, this time doused in heavy reverb and delay. an array of analogue bleeps, screams and laser beams keep the motor ticking over.

already supported by pan-pot, sebo k, anja schneider, kiki, karotte... simplicity is the name of the game on both tracks here. on >louder elvis<, the two unleash pure deep-house bounce over ominous, detroit-inspired pads, clean-as-a-whistle bleeps laser their way through a fog of dubbed-out delay. the tunes flow suggests a live session, with tumbling chords following their own whims, but theres nothing haphazard about it. this ones all about the afterhours, head down and moving steadily into the light. a vocal sample kicks off >radio graceland< but dont expect any bloated rock n roll theatrics. instead, van dowski and agnès lay down a slowly rolling groove with a latin touch and even a little bit of reggaetón lurch. hand drums dapple the landscape with faded colors, keeping the mood subdued—at least, until the beat gathers steam and bright, syncopated chords splash about. groaning analog noises push the energy restlessly forward, driving dancers to wild abandon: the track is as effective as it is unconventional. what else would you expect from two of switzerlands most uncompromising crowdpleasers
