kump is delighted to release the first ep by hlm38 (ou hlm38’s first ep), the naughty half of duo ricco and member of the notte brigante crew from lyon. the three original tracks, a mix of ethnic looting and industrial racket in slow motion, feel like steel wrapped in turkish delight. front de cadeaux’s take on “illicite cong” is reminiscent of an erotic rave flavoured with oriental spices. last but not least, kris baha slices up “exit” like a tablier de sapeur (local lyonnais dish) served on a julienne of syncopated samples and noisy beats.

transit valley is the debut release by joe coghill, a multi-disciplinary artist, musician and experimental publisher based in edinburgh. his practice incorporates sound, video, performance, social sculpture, facilitation and media distribution. borrowing from multiple spheres of influence, his scattered output operates from a liminal position. coghill works in an improvised and often haphazard way, incorporating disparate field recordings, modular synthesis and other sonic ambiences to create unpredictable and ephemeral multi-layer audio-visual performances. alongside this coghill has been producing music recreationally in his various bedroom studios over the past 14 years

this 4-track ep combines ambient and techno elements to create immersive landscapes, which later on transform into the techno grooves. the concept of this release, “unknown frequency”, defines the limited nature of human perception, which is unable to experience the full universe of the sound.
on the a-side lies the main concept track as well as its landscape/ambient version. both works express the positive tension and harmonious excitement of the discoveries to come. on the b-side, first track - “traces” continues the search of the unknown. this time, darker regions of mind are explored by the sinister grooves and minimalistic atmospheres. final track “looking for the exit” is supposed to give an answer and release the tension of the ep, but after experiencing the unknown, nothing is the same anymore.
