berlin based techno titan frank muller adopts his beroshima alias for a new four track ep that is already been hailed by the likes of marcel dettman and laurent garnier. first emerging in the nineties, muller has since become a techno great who has played from asia to south america and beyond. he�s had plenty of underground hits on the likes of cocoon and soma, and held some key residencies over the years. always one to command your attention with his multi layered grooves, this ep features an old juan atkins sample �buy some shit from detroit� that has been part of beroshima�s live sets for years. excellent opener �encounter� reflects a recent idea jeff mills and muller had to produce tracks together for a not yet produced sci-fi movie. it is an eight-minute astral techno trip with smooth, driving drums and plenty of intergalactic synth lines. �the passion of lovers� transfers the organic beroshima style into 2018 and shows off frank�s passion for spaced out electronica. it�s a brilliantly bumping cut with lithe synths and melodies adding that soul and colour as it races through the galaxies. the iconic �buy some� with the atkins sample then surges into the future with icy hi hats dancing over rubbery drums. the warped synths take the lead and bring a real sense of off kilter energy to this most timeless bit of techno. last of all is the fantastic space mix of �encounter� which is dreamy and cinematic with exquisite keys and pads colouring in a huge night sky as the drums drive things along. this is an archetypal techno ep filled with cosmic colours and serene emotions.

marc & oveous bring the classic bruk flavours to atjazz�s label with their new e.p. �on again�. the original harks back to the old co-op nights with a tough bass synth and oveous� soul laden vocals, tied together behind a punchy, syncopated broken beat rhythm. dress to sweat, this one will make the bodies move. first up on the flip side the �4x4 dub� switches the rhythm to a straight up 4x4 house beat, but that subby synth carries through the broken beat touch. the original mixes� vocals are dropped in favour of one of oveous� short spoken word monologues before he steps back to let the music do the magic. the �dubstramental� gives you one final interpretation utilising the same dubbed out template as the b1, but reverting back to the original broken beat pattern to give you three different flavours to throw down with.

for our second release of 2018 ears have eyes are back with the third instalment of our throng of orbs compilation series. this time around we welcome back old friends, and bring in some new names to the ehe fold, with a collection of tracks spanning deep emotive house music, broken beats and acid dancefloor pressure. first up we have contours, who burst onto the scene in 2015 with an excellent release on the mighty rhythm section, and has put out a slew of great records since then. dither takes time to unfold, but when the fluid acid line emerges from the heady percussion he really sets up the track for dancefloor perfection. for the a2 we welcome back chocky to the label, and he serves up a slice of weighty house music that drips quality and emotion. pickle dat kicks off with an absolute beauty of a groove, understated but weighty, and from there chocky goes on to sprinkle just the right amount of seasoning, with soulful rhodes licks and a wonderful bass line. off the back of their excellent 12- on love on the rocks, elles x violet kick off the b side with yrnyb, a tried and tested dancefloor destroyer. when we heard elles playing this in a dark basement in peckham, we just had to sign it. sometimes a kick drum, an acid line and a half heard vocal is all you need. finishing off the release we have dublin artist replete serving up a lovely slice of hazy, percussive house music that slowly builds to a crescendo. an acidic bassline sits nicely over congas and a warm, rounded kick drum.

after marcin krupa�s jazz laden pumpers on sour edits vol 2, sour edits is back with a four-tracker featuring the first vinyl release from emerging talent braga circuit alongside label boss xxxy. the a1 is the collaboration between the two artists �take you there�. slamming drums, melancholic vocals and soaring soul samples to bring a tear to the eye and a pump to the fist a2 �one i got� is a straight up romantic soul swinger from the boy wonder on his own, craftily chopped samples sit alongside swinging drums to get any good dancefloor moving b1 �i won�t, i never� sees xxxy mixing baltimore breaks with romantic vocals and soaring strings for another tears on the dancefloor moment. b2 �what you do to me� closes out the record with a slap bass fest that builds and builds.......

the third ep on the label is by newcomer vegetable disco, who delivered five searing hot cuts that will probably melt your turntable. expect spicy and sharp percussion grooves, and the grooviest leads. bring it to the club and turn it up!

my favorite robots next release is a very special remix by dj tennis. it initially comes as a 10 white vinyl and will then be available digitally in autumn. mfrs �barricade was first released on dj tenniss life and death label back in 2012. it was a huge house track that resonates to this day, so it makes sense the taste- making italian steps up to remix it. he is someone with a cultured take on brooding house and techno, as evidenced by the music he a&rs for his label as well as things like his own standout dj-kicks mix from last year. his new remix is a masterfully melancholic one that starts with a delicate ambient synth line hanging in mid air. breathy vocals eventually arrive to send shivers down the spine and finally, deep, rolling, mid tempo kicks bring a groove that carries you away into a reverie. its made all the more mournful and poignant thanks to some broad synth chords and swirling pads later on and is sure to provide a real centre point of any seriously emotional set. this is a stunning and absorbing single and another high point for my favorite robot records.

two long-time friends juho kusti (deep space helsinki, parabel) and ville vähäsaari (rezonans) bring you their brand new label, no future but what we make. the label�s first release features two broken beat burners on the a-side from detroit-based uun (mord, ego death) coupled with a more straightforward remix from acid mammoths boston 168 (bpitch control, odd even, enemy records) on the b-side. make a difference. get involved. there�s no future but what we make.

variable is the first compilation on pi electronics, which also kicks off the new catalogue peva. this various artists release includes the works of several artists involved in the label till now, along with some very familiar faces to pi that have been supporting the parties in the past years. the aim was to bring the main label roster - artists with original music on pi, such as jk flesh, ontal and damcase - under the same roof as artists that have been with the pi electronics project since its early days: the label s party residents, 3.14, nemmett and das along with other fellow athenians, unhuman, bmsk and the project �i am legion, for we are many�. the outcome will be available in cd, vinyl and digital format, while the vinyl sampler will feature jk flesh, ontal, nemmett and bmsk.

remixes from alexi delano+fredy grogan! on the latest release from make mistakes, roy england and friends take us on a ride into the beautiful, soulful depths. from uplifting love jams, to the chunkiest house funk, as always, the gang has you covered. roy england�s original mix soars through the night skies. pitter-patters, emotive pads, and a driving groove bring us the softer side of our little boogie baron. perfect for the euphoric abandon of a sweat soaked dance floor. alexi delano, a man who needs no introduction, kicks things up a notch, taking the original and giving it a restructured, pumping groove. a dubby line runs through, with echoing pads, a pulsing bass, and fluttering keys and synths. a beautiful dance floor meditation, with plenty of junk in the trunk. fredy grogan takes a hard left, and steps confidently into a psychedelic, tribal funk. teasing new vibes out of the original material, grogan transforms beauty in rhythm into a classic house groove, before settling us in to a hypnotic groove. make mistakes keeps on keepin on. thats all we know.
