james barnsley makes a return to his vessel records imprint with two rhythmic numbers joined by laura jones and nightdrivers on remix duties. entering its fourth release, vessel records has seen a healthy launch with dj honesty, dj w!ld and label founder james barnsley kick-starting the discography. cutting his teeth at basics, where he spun records alongside the likes of chez damier, delano smith and josh wink, barnsley has long since built a reputation as a respectable name within the dj booth but it s his appearances on get physical, murmur and overall music that have placed him on the map as a reputable producer.

danish djuma soundsystem teams up with italian aki bergen and they get showered in spoken poetry by none other than south african lazarusman.the reciepe is already there and looking good,but even better.it sounds good too. 2 different versions from 2 great producers. aki bergens version is very driving, electronic and suitable for the primetime and late night hours. djuma soundsystem serves the more organic and deep version for the warm up hours and small intense clubs.

jäfar make a rapid return to the label and are back to grace the a side of fragil 019, while one half of the duo (elliot sindall) also pairs up with constantin nakov as seura on the flip. black mamba recalls certain aspects of jäfar s previous work on the label: the broken drum line, the subtle vocal samples and the global hypnotic aspect of the music. yet it is also radically different from marzsia. black mamba is a subtle but direct club track, aiming to get the dancers down through its heavy groove. the kick drum and low toms are strongly suggesting leg movement, joining forces with the snares and hats which call upon some serious head nodding.on the b side, white chapel is another broken beat club piece, but this time feels crafted for the afterhours. the groove is lighter and the heady feel is strong, closing the dancer s eyes and inviting them to drift through the music. once again, fragil comes up with original, well produced and highly danceable content, highlighting unsung talents for every versatile dj out there.

manchester s very own mr scruff and nyc crate digger ge-ology remix moscow s lay-far! now that s what we call a truly international release. it s kind of a dream release for us at local talk as both scruff and ge-ology have been on our we wanna get them on local talk plastic list for quite some time. starting off we find scruff going for a slight disco(ish) rub where analogue synths bumps around with a dark but musical basement feel...but still jazzy! on the flip our man ge-ology who is riding high on the hype from his release on theo parrish s sound signature label goes on a deep and spaced out electronic house venture that is so edgy it hurts. its that good good shit basically...enjoy!

let’s continue the edit series with a first ep of sacha mambo by is own. sacha is the boss of macadam mambo, that he runs alongside guillaume des bois, they’ve released together a 2xlp last year as macadam mambo dj’s. here sacha has digged into his collection to put out 4 edits in the “devil” vibe he loves: 2 floor burners, one german euro-disco, one scandic new wave style, and 2 dark weirdo killers with crazy vocals in a more italo way. guillaume will be on the next ep with 4 completely different cuts, surprise! but for the moment let the devil comes into your house!

stamp records delve into the past for their next release, giving a new lease of life to one of swayzak s least characteristic and most sought-after tracks. swayzak are true heroes of the uk underground, having clocked numerous seminal releases in the late 90 s and early 00 s straddling the grey area between house and techno. disco dub plate volume 2 - originally out in 2000 - was an obvious anomaly in the duo s discography, that has managed to forge a path of its own amongst a completely different crowd to swayzak s usual disciples. one cut from that ep, stronger love , is a carefully arranged marriage between a certain pair of quintessential aor darlings and the soul voice of the 80 s. can we be more specific? no can do...it shouldn t really work, but somehow it does! it s been caned by many a balearic dj over the years, including mark seven who included it in his mythical originals compilation, where it holds its ground amongst other balearic heavyweights. as an added bonus for this 2016 edition we re treated to two brand new mixes ! frank agrario teases in bits of the original making for his chunkier version that is aimed squarely at the dancefloor, while brun (1/2 of swayzak) delivers a bang up-to-date dub that keeps its elements to the bare minimum, building into a deep hypnotic house chugger.

a1 nubian mindz - deep in raves: well known for his versatile and rich production, colin delivers once more. with a quite suitable name - deep in raves is just that. a deep plunge into dark and rave-like atmosphere. after a short intro layered with an ominous voice, massive bassline takes over and drives the track through the darkest curves. enriched with short percussions and a synth stab this is quite a stomper best experienced on a good club soundsystem, preferably in the dark. a2 volster - nebula: almost obsessed with audio purity, volster manages to combine new and modern sounds with old-school genre roots. nebula is all about complexity. although it is based on an electro foundations, it s so much more. space filled with an oscillatory synth motion perplexed with smooth pads that gives the impression of an interstellar properties. no detail is left unengaged, from the 808 that keeps everything in motion to the subtle amount of panning. this is a beautifully crafted story by a producer who is slowly but steadily growing into one of the best croatian artists. b1 lucretio - dracula: the most famed beard of cadoneghe/italy has pulled another magic gem from his music source. widely known for his relentless tendency to push the analogue spectrum to it s extreme, lucretio surprises once more with his ability to blend simple pieces into an effective sub storm with almost comic like features. dracula is not your conventional tune and it s pretty obvious why as soon as you put the needle on. broke down rhythm is heavily fueled by polished but enormous sub background with sparse and ¥in your face¥ shots. seemingly random notes take a gloomy and powerful form during the break and soon the lurky atmosphere comes into picture. this is truly brilliance in it s full simplicity. if only bram stoker could hear this, he would probably be both stunned and amused! b2 james booth - jxst do it: one of our goals on vakum is to be on a lookout for a new and promising talents. berlin based james booth surely fits the bill. jxst do it is a seriously crafted track with rich rhythmic section wrapped in a steady build up. after the initial break-beat intro sliced in short chunks, subtle 303 bassline takes over and the rhythmic game begins. booth delivers a perfectly timed cuts accompanied by a diverse palette of percussions. this is a perfect piece for those build up moments in the club..

essential reissue!! the producer and dj from chicago joey kay published in 1994 an ep that soon became a favorite of the 90s house djs around the world: eclectiz ep . the legendary label house jam records was responsible for editing and selling it. nowadays, in 2016 (22 years later) the owners of the label bons records have been in contact with joey kay and they have been quick to reach an agreement to make a remastered edition of the great eclectiz ep including the same tracks that the original version but at an affordable price to everyone, not favoring the speculation around these kind of musical gems, mostly in platforms like discogs. eclectiz ep has been remastered by robert feuchtl (fat of excellence)

celebrating our 20th release, glasgows dave clark returns to optimo trax as sparky. he was responsible for the third release on the label as luma which featured the club smash -john broadwood- and recently had another big club hit with signals- on numbers. we are delighted to welcome him back in what is a contunuation of a relationship that stretches back further than we care to remember. all four tracks here are certified dancefloor winners, from the reach for the lasers, kickless things fall apart through the synth rhapsodies of black swan and my prophet, climaxing in the jacking seven daggers. all killer, no filler is often a trite cliche in these blurbs but is entirely true in the case of this ep.

the analog beat-grinder from japan, miclodiet, is back on genesa records with his distinctive, gnarly sound. yasunobu usually releases his material on his own cassette-only label, sludge -tapes, but during the last 2 years, you were able to see him appear on genesa005v alongside joefarr, vsk & the label boss scalameriya or on our digital only division with a complete ep, remixed by martyn hare, alhek & forest people. for his debut vinyl ep, he prepared some stripped down, ultra minimalistic techno stompers infused with recognizable hooks and drones. an absolute must-have for dj’s who are searching for refreshments to add to their crate!

invite’s choice records continues on the path chosen with a 3-track vinyl release which showcases some new and well-established names. hertz collision has the honour of being chosen to be the only artist showcasing a track on the a-side. this eerie, melodic track sets quite a special mood for the ep to start with. the b-side is opened by wrong assessment with a track that’s focussed on the low-end. this synth-driven track fits well in the mood set on the a-side, but continues with a heavier drive. the droning kick draws you in and makes you want to go dance the day away in smoke-filled rooms. savas pascalidis finishes the ep off with a banger true to his own style that relies on the drummachine for’s swing. this oldschool, loopy techno banger closes another outstanding ep by invite’s choice records.

following his uplifting 2015 single holdin on and its techy b-side faces, rony seikaly is back for another release on yoshitoshi that proves this renaissance man is a force to be reckoned with in modern house music. the two tracks on this ep possess deep grooves, but also flex a fair amount of melodic muscle. they liken back to the sound yoshitoshi became well known for in its infancy. the sword centers around some tribal percussion and carefully woven melodic ideas, but the track?s focus is decidedly on low end. a burly, assertive bass gives the mix a driving character suited for late nights. at time it feels like a modern take on progressive house from another era. all of a sudden is more or less an extension of the first track, giving the ep defined consistency. it s a delicately arranged and straightforward house feeler, the meat coming from a multitude of interlaced chords and melodies maneuvering carefully over more tribal percussion and a monstrous kick. the mission here is to inspire awe and wonder in dancers, and seikaly delivers on both accounts.

jun kamoda is a producer, dj and mc from tokyo. new to the label but a friend of the party, jun came to mister sunday in nyc last year and ended up hanging around for a few days afterward, digging for records and sharing bowls of spaghetti with the boys. when he returned to japan, he got to working on the music we now present to you on the clay ep. this is jun blending loopy, psychedelic disco stylings with chugging drum work for three party-ready cuts. they’ve been chopping up our dance floors months, we’re excited to hear them do the same to yours.

ever evolving dutchman a made up sound is back with a new ep on delsin a whole six years after his last. here he proves once more why he is so vital across four cuts of heavyweight technosoul. thin air pairs fast-paced 4/4 beats with stormy layered pads, all coalescing into affectional yet powerful techno grooves. in typical amus fashion, with its swung drums, sampled chordlines and flanged percussion it s simply hard to categorize but easy to love.

rsd 2016 itemn - must not be asold before 16.4.2016. j ohn frusciantes foregrow doesnt sound like any acid test record, or any record, thats come before it. after the unlikely alliance between the los angeles label and the iconoclastic venice, ca musician on trickfinger, all bets are off. this ones truly a passage through night. frusciante’s using elements of john carpenters eternal scores, the drum programming dna of jungle and footwork, and yes, a roland tb-303, all slowed down to a crawl. foregrow is a lurching, lysergic beauty which offers glimpses of his platinum pop instincts, but only behind the veil of true experimentalism.

the btrax records label is back after few years off, and we are sure that new ep will not disappointed you. we are very proud to put out 1 stunning track made by one of the label artist : camille rodriguez from paris - france. electronic music drives his life for over 10 years now, he has developed his own style incorporating all his influences. he is passionate about the live, and create that way with synthesizers, sequencers, bar and samplers... he likes pushing himself sweating behind his machines, improvising at every moment, keeping control of every sound in order to play more intuitively, getting a better communication with the crowd... “andalusian 2.0” comes in two guises, the original mix which delivers some perfect techno keys and claps over its stomping techno beat, giving it live performance style flavor. the traumer remix takes it into darker warehouse territory but still retains the warmth and groove. kaine’s remix delivering some tough dub techno workouts that still have just the right amount of funk and groove.

on the back of an acclaimed lp on his own umhs label, freerotation resident leif takes his woozy grooves and lush atmospherics for a trackier spin on galdoors. macro beat s-broken latin groove propels the a1 through layers of bubbling dub synths and twinkling atmospherics. moment beat shares the first track s club focus, but this time chimes unfurl over a low-slung groove that leaves things perfectly poised for a change in direction. on the b, tumbler-picks up the pace once more with highs and arpeggios that pulse and slide around each other restlessly, before untitled wraps up with a beatless and beautiful flourish.

the latest release from the swiss duo larytta, entitled jura libre, is a chunky, massive, intelligent, colorful (in that full on tropical way) four-song collection of club bangers. to be exact the full set actually consists of two original songs with an in-house larytta remix a piece. the originals lean on pronounced inflections of playful, tricky, afro-tropical rhythms, while the reworks go for a more direct four-to-the-floor approach straight for the jugular. apart from the vibrant, tight production what unifies all of these tracks is a head nod towards that nineties club sound, especially that golden age acid rave material. this is music made not only by great producers, but heads that really know and love clubbing culture and history and know how to tastefully reference the past. the ep closes with bota mao pra encima which features brazilian emcee junior, and thats the point at which you start to question if this ep was truly cut in switzerland.

loose joints pop your funk: the complete singles collection will be released on vinyl via west end records for record store day. the tracks arthur russell created for loose joints are among his most enduring, dance floor-ready productions. the group has been the subject of various rounds of reissues courtesy of west end, but this coming april version is for the completists, taking its basis from a 2013 japan-only cd set. included across six sides are six versions of is it all over my face, among them larry levan s original female vocal version and two 2001 remixes from masters at work. the record store day release also includes various takes of the group s other singles, pop your funk and tell you today.

to celebrate record store day 2016, claremont 56 is proud to present something rather special – a killer single-sided release whose origins are shrouded in mystery. “tropic of capricorn” arrived at c56 hq with little or no information. while its’ humid sound effects and glistening, unfurling melodies evoke hazy memories of mediterranean sunsets and adriatic sunrises, the track’s creators live east of ukraine, in the colder surrounds of the russia. regardless of who made it, you’ll struggle to find a single that’s quite as warm, tactile and seductively groovy. built around a hypnotic, slo-mo groove, “tropic of capricorn” soothes and sedates from start to finish. its’ ingredients are relatively sparse – think gently undulating beats, toasty chords and an electric harp that gently ebb and flow like the waters of a mountain stream – but the results are nothing less than stunning.

mike ash returns to super rhythm trax after providing the very first release and gives us 4 authentic and acidic warehouse smashers. mike ash may be familiar from early releases on moving shadow and rising high records under a variety of pseudonyms in the early 90s but in the last 10 years has become synonymous with releasing mind blowing and true electro under his own name. when he turns his hand to acid house, the results mirror the high quality and his no nonsense approach shines through having lived and breathed the music and culture back when it was exploding in the late 80s and early 90s. in his own words i tried to keep with the original 1988/1989 vibe. i didnt use any synths / sounds / samples that weren t available past 1990. its all juno / sh-101 / 303 / jupiter / 808 / 909 / 707 / 606 and samples from the beats breaks & scratches vol 1&2inch the tracks exude a raw and strangled soul and are a bold and comfortingly honest take on the warehouse and pirate radio sound of the uk.

with this new release best works records presents a new multi-talented dj and producer from georgia, gacha bakradze. this 4 track ep is not the typical club record but a mind stimulating piece of music. it opens with drift, a track where rhythm and beats are melting down in a pot full of warm flowing sound- scapes, then goes into more hypnotic lead sounds with the second track golshifteh. on the b-side youll find a techno infused remix from berghains resident norman nodge, elevating the original track drift to a real dancefloor bliss. the last track tiresome walk takes us on a sweet journey through playful melodies and laid-back rythmics, he delivers a majestic slow burn, crafting something that would serve well both as a stirring set opener or an emotional end.

the motech label has been building a high reputation of late but it’s actually been three years since co-owner, detroit’s dj 3000 (franki juncaj) released a 12 inch of his own. putting that to rights, he delivers take me away, due for release in april and featuring a deadly remix by truncate. the original version of take me away is a deep and hypnotic builder with a relentless groove that stands astride detroit techno and tough house, a style that dj 3000 has championed over the years. truncate is the alias of audio injection (la’s david flores). his remix ups the tempo and adds an infectious vocal cut-up, turning take me away into a raw, hard-hitting cut. the truncate remix has already been picked up by eats everything for his new fabric mix, out soon, as well as receiving early support from dave clarke on his white noise radio show and ben sims on the october edition of run it red.

ostgut ton reissues acht of zehn with original tracks by din (aka efdemin and marcel fengler), fiedel and tobias. 2015 marked ostgut tons ten-year anniversary, celebrated with an extensive 30 track compilation release, titled ostgut ton | zehn, spread out over ten 12inch vinyl records housed inside a limited box set. this sampler sold out in no time, which is why ostgut ton is re-issuing these ten 12inches individually in 2016. bubbling synths, a stoic bassdrum, some live hi-hat percussion and synth pads full of bliss – what started as marcel fengler’s and efdemins inaugural collaboration as din for 2013s masse ballet sees its continuation in form of mono on a1. on a2 fiedel contrasts the opening tracks cool sounds with an upbeat contribution: probe-806 gently brushes funk, electro, acid and even boogie territory atop the general muscular rhythm. analogue synth aficionados are being served by tobias.: like a drug is a minimalist techno track with maximalist dancefloor effect through its use of haunting, distanced vocal fragments, discomforting alarm tones and crackling background textures. as with every good drug, you dont necessarily want more of it, but rather a longer duration of effect (in this tracks case: 8:36 minutes).

ellen allien s work lism is already being referred to as a milestone in the label s history: rarely has an album from the circle of bpc artists deviated so far from the club context as lism. the label boss has radically disposed of all established musical templates and created space for 45 minutes of sonic experiments that lie well beyond any functional paradigm – a highly emotional soundtrack for one s -inner cinema-, but also a creative process with a considerable fun factor.

a new collaboration project on crowdspacer. bryce hackford, part of one of the most daring dj crew in nyc (deep trouble), true purveyor of a certain new york club culture legacy (think arthur russell) and author of 2 acclaimed albums, came to joakims studio and after a few hours of live synth and drum machine jamming, jhack was born. i would describe this as psychedelic voodoo house music. but its up to you really.

next up on africa seven is the second edition of our -african funk experimentals- lps. with these we took some of our favourite african artists, choose the most funky we can find and then put together a compilation of their choicest and funkiest tracks. of course that may not be their most popular or best selling tracks..., but that s just fine. we are digging for the funk.

sami baha is a young producer from istanbul, with his roots in the turkish hiphop scene, who has been stealthily pricking up ears with guest spots on rinse fm and nts since he moved to london last year. he started this ep ‘mavericks’ while he was in istanbul, saying “the music i produced became more chaotic as istanbul became a harsher place both politically and economically. i didn t really design it that way, but i feel like the sound got more aggressive over the years”. he describes his music as ‘instrumental trap‘, but instead of trap vocals there are complex arrangements, although he has started to work with vocalists while he’s been in the uk.

key artist of the lumie&#768,,,,,reslanuit (lln) booking agency, david is also becoming a key artist for the label. right after his remix of roisner s piano roll ep (lln003) for the london-based label first year anniversary special release, david k is back with a solo ep: wrung door (lln004). according to david: wrung door oscillates between cold and warm, deep and groovy universes with a strong industrial touch, whereas lightly dark mimics the musical elements of wrung door but uses them in a different way in order to guide the listener to a different world. finally, broken swatch is a rather narrative and lyrical track. in summary, wrung door (lln004) gathers in one ep the two different sides that lumie&#768,,,,,reslanuit aims at developing: one refined and crisp and one dancefloor-driven.

our parisian edit friend reverend p hits us with a 4 track ep loaded with some serious boogie and disco heat. concentrating on the sounds of gladys knight (a side) and george duke (b side), reverend p decided to edit em not once but twice...ouble action = double fun :) the a-side tracks are two uptempo numbers with gladys while the flip comes with one mid tempo boogie tune and a high energy disco cut from mr duke. solid gamm material for anyone down with the more soulful sounds of disco!

savor always like to pay tribute to the roots. so for this eleventh release, the one and only motor city master, gari romalis, delivered us an amazing fourth-tracker charged with the true essence of the chicago and detroit house sound. classic but absolutely fresh, enjoy the flavours!
