down by the lake is happy to present saile, a young musician who was born and raised in berlin. what instantly caught us was the timelessness of every single element within the sound of saile. though being at young age his hardware-only tracks are sweating of love for the golden era of us house music. map.ache (kann/ giegling) takes in the end to another hypnotic level, his version is a proper workout, to be heard on the trippy dancefloors across the world soon! drawings & typography by stefan marx.
repress 2016 , the new artist ep of map.ache goes by the name leave and keep. luckily he is not going to leave the label, but turns in three new tracks, where he is stressing the fine line between dancefloor and good listening. his indescision remains our pleasure
PURPOSELY UNCERTAIN FIELD REMIXES (REDSHAPE, LAWRENCE, MAP.ACHE)
12" Vinyl D17.11.15
here comes the heavy remix package to lake peoples much praised debut album purposely uncertain field. with redshape, lawrence and map.ache three remixes were carefully chosen who would be able to bring their own distinctive sound to the table, but also treat the original tracks respectfully. redshape catapults -illuminated- into the orbit of the red planet, where it rotates in a trippy and hypnotic way. lawrence is drifting red but stays closer to the sun. the dial boss keeps things lighter and brings some bells and a steady bass drum to dinner and knows how to mesmerise. leipzig buddy and kann records co-founder map.ache shifts up a gear with his remix for cooping. twisted vocals and a bouncy bassline make his remix a darling on the club floor and rounds things consistently up.
2x12 lp inclusive cd version + 2 bonus tracks.
ulfo is the debut album by map.ache. a selection driven by determined chords carrying tears of optimism. presenting 10 tracks as shelter for hope, decorated with the shadow of a white rose in a mirror of silver.
berlin-based music label mutual musik is proud to announce its second release prince of the night. the title track from johannes beck springs from the universal urge to explore the night and to let oneself go. floating between bliss and melancholy, strolling like in a dream, this track goes out to all princes and princesses of the night.

jan barich, aka map.ache, is ready to release his debut album, ulfo. along with alexander neuschulz and dennis knoof (aka sevensol & bender), barich is a founder of kann records, the label arm of a leipzig record store of the same name. since 2008, kann has quietly become a consistent source of atmospheric, understated deep house, mostly by a crew of local artists. barich hews close to his label s trademark sound on ulfo, delivering ten delicate tracks that are, in the words of the label, driven by determined chords carrying tears of optimism.
the keeping of pets marks humans attempt at taking possession of a part of reality that is not at his disposal. dressing a piece of the real that lives according to entirely non-human rules and which only in the saddest case does not resist the discipline of the human symbolic order vehemently and in a sustained matter, is a violent act of protection. because in the non-place of the real, all that which we are helpless in the face of looms: the non-logical and the nameless, the violence and the noise, yet also the unrestrained and unfiltered desire.
,,,the innocuous figure of the pet marks a gateway to an investigation of these eerie milieus, while electronic dance music lends itself to this investigation in an outstanding way. this constellation marks the subject of columns pets ii.
‘family horror x good times’ is an extensive 15 tracks compilation, where the leipzig label reflects on an intense and impassioned decade. kann asked close friends and long time idols to play their part to the full to complete the third edition of the label’s family horror compilation series. the outcome is a clear snapshot of the musical inclinations of the three label founders, sevensol & map.ache (aka manamana) and bender, encapsulating an idiosyncratic, modern house sound that demands an emotional response. the compilation comes rounded off by a booklet of photographs from ria aka lux which just like the music captures some of the beautiful ‘good times’ from this very special period, this time on paper.
after almost two years “things from the basement” are back with another very patient contribution for kann. next to their very intimate and minimalist original jams the 6 tracker includes three different dancefloor focused remix approaches from sevensol, map, ache & polo. the label’s final record of 2016 consists of a wide ranging musical package, all tracks are sorted by genres but unified in the same vibe.

for the past 6 years art feast share in their parties their passion for house music in lyon, paris and berlin. art feast records is the result of these few years, to highlight their beloved local scene of lyon, and friends met on the road.this is the fourth vinyl release, where afr keeps exploring the wide universe of house music, this time with a deep and groovy touch. 4 tracks by 5 artists from sister cities lyon and leipzig. for this release they team up with the famous leipzig based label kann records.
three cuts from sven tasnadi, member of the neighboring leipzig based moon harbour family. with this small things ep he is stripping down functional dancefloor ambitions and goes back to the subtle side of deeper housemusic. beside these three originals map.ache adds a pushing remix which portrays the first sign of musical life since his album release one and a half years ago.
kann07 comes as a diverse twin-vinyl headhouse compilation featuring labelholders valued friends and beloved artists. >family horror< is telling about the similar windchill factor on various places. dorisburg, falke, sevensol&bender, efdemin, even tuell, map.ache and johannes beck try to explain.

cutz features special versions, remixes and edits of wonderful secret tracks because its hard to find the little weapons in million of tracks these days. so we want to present songs that we love, bought, edited, played out and which we have the feeling more people should know about them. one characteristic is to keep the original spirit alive and make the tracks more dj friendly and give them a more dancefloor oriented vibe. the first edition was edited by youandme from ornaments / platzhirsch. b-lo on side a from carlos nilmmns & ian elgey was original published on the scottish fizzy duck label (fd003). the fool on side b from map.ache was original published on the german ortloff label (uwe02). enjoy
