derrick carters seminal sound patrol album originally released in 1994, * sweetened - no lemon*, will see a re-release in january 2016. the alias provided a place for carter to explore deeper and sometimes more atmospheric styles. the sound patrol record originally came out via chicagos organico label, while derrick carters own arts & labour is handling the reissue. the triple vinyl re issue adds four new unreleased tracks. the whole album has been re mastered for 2016. this follows a limited edition sampler 12 inch released in 2015 which contained another 2 unreleased tracks.

damien lynch is a gentleman youve met in a past life. emerging with this debut, he steps nicely into a home at the esp institute. on side a, we‘re invited to the heights, a transcendent state where the negative space between the notes is equally as important as his lush instrumentation. damiens build-up of warm analogue machines twinkle and stab, leading way to a memorable hook, a squelching chord melody full of live nuance and energy. on side b, safe house plays out a similar theme in terms of arrangement, however, the ethereal space damien creates with the kalimba and driving arpeggios elevates us to an even higher plane, where his lead floats gracefully across the stereo spectrum, blanketing the fast-paced rhythms with a calming sense of purity. were serious when we say that these two songs will guide you toward enlightenment.

its not often you hear a techno record produced by a total of five people. when it happens, it’s usually to mark a passage and make a statement. sometimes it is a matter of celebrating a rita of passage, a shift into maturity and the embodiment of a new skin. this is what repitch is doing with the fourth and final installment in their “features” series, reuniting all the crew for the the final blast of what’s been a long and massive barrage of heavy techno. this is the collaboration to end them all: repitch founders ascion, d. carbone and shapenoise have shared the studio with longtime allies and. together, they explore a common ground made of pounding metallic percussions, gutwrenching bass and thick, furious grooves, with each producer bringing his own peculiar contributions to the table. this last installment marks the end of a process that accompanied repitch throughout its whole existence, thus enhancing the beginning of a new chapter in the label’s creative output.

from france comes fabrizio rat with a 4-track ep constructed entirely from acoustic piano and drum machine. mr. rats unique sound design blew our ears away, particularly at a time when so much techno is more reliant on following a blueprint rather than trying to push the frontiers of what is possible, which to us was always the true raison dêtre of techno

back in soviet times when the official local music market was controlled by the biggest record monopoly in history melodiya, many local musicians who wanted to express themselves in actual form, released tapes themselves and spread it through a big underground market network called magnitizdat (short of magnetic tape release). it began in the 60s with soviet rock movement and illegal copies of foreign music which got through border with tourists, seamen and diplomats. in the late 80s you could find there many different shades of music from underground protest rock, post punk, avant-garde to a lot of electronic pop, local kind of italo disco and dj s mixtapes with a personal rap on top of it. plus seven records begins a sublable series of remastered edits which narrate about dance part of this story.

sova stroj is the nom de plume of luxembourg-based producer michel flammant. with a history in black metal, rock and synth pop bands, he has now ventured out on his own, delving into experimental and electronic music. sova strojs debut album silent earth explores feelings of willful desertion through forty minutes of highly concentrated and almost teleologically dark ambient patterns. musically the album is centered around an abstracted industrial music influence paired with precise and evocative melodic and harmonic explorations

the last few years has seen parris make a name for himself across a number of scenes, to the extent he is just as likely to be found spinning records for butterz as he is putting records out on berceuse heroique. here at idle hands we first touched base with parris many moons ago when he bought copies of the first release on his soundman chronicles label into our shop. as it is one of our favourite labels we were intrigued to hear what he would come up with as producer himself. needless to say we were impressed. presented here are two tracks that perfectly reflect his sound and our own a nod to techno here, a weighty bass line there, a love of reverb everywhere and all with a view to being played in dark rooms late at night. the 12 inch of burr and blue is idle hands last release of 2015 and we think it rounds off nicely what has been a great year for the label.

i walk around in the solar field. from here, the surrounding beams look like cylinder­thick, motionless rain or comet tails painted onto the sky. the tower is all white because the sunrays are pointing directly at it, white in an erased way, like if you leave an empty patch on a drawing, and surrounded by a halo. i go over to one of the sun mirrors. it’s huge and darkish and cold when i touch it. i don’t know if it’s cold and immune to the sun or transfixed in a much more extreme way than the desert. a solar plant can take much more sunlight. it has direct access, like a clip through into the thing outside. the widest zone, like the highest point when it’s lightning. the sunlight is magnetic. intense heat from the mantle pushing against the crust to get closer to the sun.

lumieux is from bucharest, ro and got in contact with electronic music at an early age (14 years) when he decided to continue with this style of music. for four years he experienced several genres of electronic music: techno, dnb, deep house, tech house and something uncommon genres: experimental, house, industrial etc. finally he decided to combine two genres of electronic music: house and techno.

close to the days of the days, when the maya calendar will come to an end and somthing special is waiting for human beeing, two smart fellas from berlin are contrebuting this happening with the so called popocatepetl ep. popocatepetl is a yet sleeping massive vulcano in mexico, who just recently rumbled to life. it looks like this ep will come up with the same energy and power. four tracks with many statements and diversity and still homogeneous in their substance. to find an own style and esspecialy an own sound is what the two try to push to the fore. if we compare this release to their last successful released track on tonkind schmalwild, we hear this major line, where a transperent empathy is to find. kotelett & zadak, showing on this ep their ability to creat dance music with a certain flow and groove which makes you feel aloof and hot but still laid-back and relaxed. it just shows their own temper and shows us why, this two guys are one of the most beloved djs in berlins underground scene. its their personal spirit what comes up in the music, that makes this release sound so authentic. hopefully people will notice, yet even without any dramatic fireworks, popo has the power to wreak havoc.

largely sequencer-based composition practices opened up barera s usual hand-playing approach and allowed him to create rich and melodic, yet precise and powerful techno. -the opportunist- conjures images of arriving in darkness, taking what you can, and leaving quickly to avoid detection. -discipline- is barera s full-on workout, with all the rushes associated, itself very much a product of discipline. -a new future- suggests an optimistic if uncertain outlook, a world where anything is possible, while -last glacial maximum,- which refers to a period in the earth s history when ice sheets were at their most recent maximum extension, represents a somewhat bleaker view. the musically kindred spirits behind massachusetts-based mentha records are ideal partners in this project, warmly embracing barera s wide-eyed techno concepts.

goldmin music label founder romain lanteaume alias einka meets detroit minimalism master terrence dixon aka population one for a truly conceptual techno 12-.. terrence dixon is one of our favorite artists and biggest inspiration.. detroitborn artist released his first 12- back in 1994 followed by several quintessential records and 2 epic albums -from the far future- on legendary berlin-based label tresor. terrence is not only a great techno producer who makes subwoofers roar in clubs, he is a man obsessed by a concept, an idea that he s following from the very beginning.. -minimalism- in the reaaaaal sense of the word.. for example, when thousands producers are wondering what s eventually missing in their new track, terrence is rather wondering what s useless, what could be removed and that s definitely what he gets to share on his own -reduction- imprint. after the release of terrence s track -steve austin s mile- on goldmin theme lp, romain got to meet him in detroit during summer 2014. the aim was to make an abstract record that could still be linked to a feeling or a situation.. a1 the edge track is probably a good example as it s designed and built to make you feel like you get closer and closer to the edge while the track is slowly growing until you fall.. can you feel it? :) as for the other tracks, there is also a special idea behind them but we better let you interpret it your way

it s time to have fun in the murky again as the 4th ep arrives on platters courtesy of joefarr. this record, bearing joe s daughter s stylized name has been something of a special project here at fitm. originally intended for vinyl release on turbo recordings of montreal i couldn t stand it when i found the vinyl release was no longer planned. i got in touch with both joe and the kind folks at turbo and have licensed it for this vinyl release. it truly is a record i believe in.

its a rare moment in the life of hoods m-plant when he hands over to another producer, but no surprise that he should pick mark broom for the next release, seeing as hes previously been entrusted to provide edits of hoods tracks for mpm19.

the * dance session band project* started for the session with the dance duo symbol-ism who represents yoyogi, tokyo known as the base of yygrec. the band is composed by three members. daisuke fujiwara (sax), well versed in detroit techno, got attention when he was playing in his original band “phat”, which sublimated the improvisation style of techno and jazz in 90’s. after that he has played with jeff mills and also with underground resistance. masatsugu hattori (drums) who has been playing across the genre, has appeared on the fighting-style music event boycott rhythm machine versus live. he has also played and gone on a duo tour with mc sibitt from a hiphop crew origami. keigo iwanami (bass) is playing in a club jazz band sleepwalker, a punk band midori, oncenth trio, zycos and more. he keeps playing in various fields of music like jazz, pop, punk, improvisation music etc. in this project, they creates “physical” dance session music inspired by symbol-ism, and reflects their each musical backgrounds of jazz, techno, house, hiphop, punk, improvisation and so on.

loveland returns for the second release on their newly revamped record label loveland recordings and ian o’donovan does the honours. the irish producer was catapulted to lovelands attention when adam beyer closed the 2014 loveland festival with vortex.
