following our first release with opal, which aimed at the dance and the bodies, we wanted with this second ep to reach to people’s mind. as a geneva-based techno label, it was fundamental to work with our local hero: opuswerk. he’s already been working outside of the country with artists like francois x and labels such as arts, semantica or dement3d. it was time we involved him in our project. through this ep, opuswerk clearly shows what he knows and does best. much like his dj sets, he connects dots and layers in unexpected ways, like a rhizome connecting different multiplicities. inspiration for the original tracks came from designing systems of independent yet connected sounds, where events are triggered, un-triggered and alter other events, each behaving on their own. as one of those elements, the artist acts as a guide, directing them from one place to the next acting as and with the machines. the -mot d’ordre- is about becoming one of the machines, blending techniques with vibes and catching them like ever escaping dreams. the result is two uniquely sounding spaces, either filled with raw energy like on extensum or with subtle and serene ever-evolving bleeps on spatium. those two extremes are fitting to how we want present the multiple dimensions of our artists works to the world. the same logic went into choosing the remixers, with whom opuswerk had a human connection with. inland and antigone need no introductions, having both established their sound on labels like countercharge or token. each brought their own re-interpretations of the original tracks bringing them closer to the dancefloors.

i cant love you anymore is the first single by hard working soul performer carlton jumel smith recorded with cold diamond & mink, and the man has revealed his middle name just for the occasion. otherwise known simply as carlton j. smith, theres no doubt he has swallowed a large pill of soul since seeing james brown live at the apollo theatre as an 8-year old. smiths timmion debut single sinks him into drum heavy southern flavored deep soul, a style that comes out of him naturally as water from a mountain spring. backing him up on the falsetto parts is pratt, who recently turned some heads with his pratt & moody release lost lost lost on stylart records, and together the two basically nail it. when looking for artists, who just seem to move through time effortlessly with a steady air of confidence, passion and precision, one might pick up the phone and give cjs a call. even though his discography of couple of late 2000s albums and some guest spots in early 90s soulful house 12inches is a bit mysterious, there seems to be not one bit of difficulty to his craft or personality. as a recording artist, i cant love you anymore is a new opening into raw soul territory, and it is just what the world needs today. he laid down an album worth of tracks on his last helsinki visit, and this might be something to look forward to.

every now and then a release comes along from out of nowhere with little fanfare, no social media or extensive pr campaign enabling those who discover it to simply focus on the music without bias or preconceived ideas which can so often cloud our judgement these days. the hypochondriac ep is one such release, bringing four diverse tracks which veer from the heavier percussive groove and goose-bump inducing rhodes of the title track through to the spaced-out, soul-drenched vocal workout existential. on movement and ghosted we’re treated to deep and tracky shuffled grooves and 90’s inspired nyc deep house with a nod to dopewax and henry street. simply put, this is the kind of record that back in the day would be your secret weapon for many years with all four tracks working their magic in different sets in different situations and places. we hope you enjoy this little slice of house perfec-tion!

brooklyn’s dither down records presents galaxians debut long player let the rhythm in, available now on limited edition double gatefold heavyweight vinyl and download. firmly rooted in the club culture and dance lineage of their hometown leeds, ltri s eight tracks bristle and pulse with the same energy that the band s live performances have become well know for. the album s soulful, muscular sound resonates with a raw playfulness, and with the addition of singer emma mason in 2016 the band have forged a path to a sound steeped in the tradition of new york disco and boogie heavyweights such as inner life, gwen guthrie, and producer/writer leroy burgess.

for the past 15 years the tanzanian megalopolis of dar es salaam has had one of the most exciting underground electronic music scenes in east africa. a constellation of micro-scenes from mchiriku, sebene and segere all the way to its latest mutation of singeli that finally after years of lurking in the underground has exploded into the mainstream and taken over bongo flava as the music of choice amongst tanzania s youth. born in the sprawling working class neighborhoods of tandale and manzese, singeli s signature sound consists of fast paced frantic loops interlocking with each other, with influences from zanzibars tarab music all the way to south african afro-house coupled with mc s who often spit satirical lyrics about the challenges facing tanzania s youth, from police corruption to the complications of dating girls when you are broke. if there is one studio that stands out amongst the hundreds that dot dar es salaam s musical landscape it is sisso records. centered around producers, bwax, sisso, bampa pana and yung keyz morento and mc s dogo niga and makavelli, they were early pioneers of the singeli sound. whilst some singeli artists have begun fusing their music with more traditional tanzanian hip hop, sisso have remained uncompromising in their sound, always raw, fast with a punk diy aesthetic that can at times verge on noise and gabber, to produce a spell binding music that is like no other sound system culture in the region.

indianapolis band led by organist bobby watley (ex-lonnie smith group) and driven by his funky jack mcduff-influenced playing. discovered in march 1971, funk inc had sent bob porter a demo tape which languished in a pile of other until the producer finally got around to working his way through the whole batch. the band s tape grabbed him as soon as he heard the first notes and the rest, as they say, is history. a quintet, funk inc s constituent members were leader bobby watley on organ, eugene barr on tenor saxophone, steve weakley on guitar, jimmy munford on drums and cecil hunt on congas. watley, the leader, worked originally as a drummer, with both winston walls and lonnie smith. he switched to organ in 1969 and was heavily influenced by jack mcduff. barr played his first professional gig with little milton and then went on to lead his own band prior to joining funk inc. munford worked with artists of the calibre of etta james, jerry butler and james brown. hunt had been with the coasters as well as playing with local california bands. weakley was one of the (then) new breed of guitarists whose debt owed as much to jimi hendrix as kenny burrell.

summing up 2017, skudge dug through the archive material from the formative years of 2009 and 2010. for the keen ear and reflective soul, the basis of the much-liked skudge sound is present here in a updated, perhaps more refined record. while working hard to pursue a specific set of labels, sound and aesthetic, skudge 011 presents us a welcomed look into the retrospect of their unique sound

recorded while gerald was in jamaica working on a project with lee perry in 1980. the master tapes of the four tracks that were recorded at the harry j sessions were only recently discovered. utopia was the only track that had been given a final mix back in the day. it was released on 7- on the black star liner later in the year and then reissued on partial records in 2014. the other tracks were never mixed until early 2017 when this task was undertaken by dougie wardrop. as well as mixing jerusalem (gerald did a later version of this tune for rej forte s jah works label in the early 1990s), working for the dollar and constant spring , it was decided that utopia should also enjoy a fresh mix.

berlin based producer zigan aldi has always been open for different cultural influences in his music. an openess that might go back to his own background since zigan had been brought up in the eastern part of turkey, before he moved to germany when he was 14. apart from working in various jobs it was always the music that kept him going and let him experience his true passion. after releasing music on bedouin’s label truecolors or 3000 grad it was about time his diverse music finds another home on underyourskin records. therefore zigan delivers four exclusive tracks that depict his approach to electronic music with a mostly downtempo vibe. ‘luton’, ‘seems to be’ and ‘olin’ follow the path of the label’s as well as zigan’s philosophy: a slightly oriental influence that meets darker multi-layered synth chords to create significant atmospheres that can work at any time at the club. ‘miracle’ featuring sandeck is just what the track title suggest: a musical miracle. as the track slowly enfolds its groove to the audience, it is the guitar riffs and the vocals that sum up magic of this track at this very intimate moment.

zone look to irish artist and esteemed electro producer defekt aka matthew flanagan for their next ep. over the years this artist has become synonymous with proper techno and electro. his hardware based sound has won him fans all over the world and chief amongst those records is the 2010 mini album he released and which got hammered by legends like dave clarke. working on combat recordings, signal code and electronic explorations amongst others, his rugged drum sounds and modular synth style is textured and real and for that reason always stands out.

following a red letter release in the form of joe armon-jones & maxwell owin s idiom, yam recordings return with the second installment of their you and music compilation series, this time compiled by yam fam hollick & z lovecraft. kicking things off on the a side is native cruise, a new artist hollick has been working extensively with on no bad days, bringing that signature ‘floaty yet punchy’ sound. it’s a kwaito-esque club jam with pan flutes and percussive loops bringing that energy to the start of the record. will listers sunset over st. petets spire is up next with a hypnotising yet intricate production from the hugely promising talent. will is a dude very much affiliated with yam and, of course, our pals over at balamii radio so it only seemed natural to have him on the record. that melody is a proper ear-worm too! the b side, curated by z lovecraft, is a slightly tougher affair with three tracks representing his taste in soulful sounds and expands on his a&r work for rhythm section international. first up is rouge me&#769,,chaniques prisma ltd a 7-minute psychedelic drum odyssey showcasing the multi instrumentalists many talents and influences, with guitar overdubs and flute ambience taking the dance floor far and beyond. on b2, upcoming break beat talent, lt, takes the helm with gale force. hailing from the peak district, lt makes work of deep vocal pads, 606 touches and a killer bass line. finishing off the compilation is wholemeal musics boy wonder, dear earth, who conjures a charming hip-hop ditty with his delicate assemblage style.

acid paulis album bld dropped earlier this year and was a superb reminder of martin gretschmanns unique place within the electronic music. breathing musicality and adventurousness into everything that he does, the album covered a number of moods and emotions, from dystopian carnivalesque vibes to moments of high intensity, through to deep melancholia and synth laden ambience. following on from the a remix package, b brings another huge selection of producers into the fray to reinterpret the originals. first up, hamburg hero stimming works over ‘amadou - flipping the original, into a techy bomb. a thick kick underpins a shuffling, off kilter rhythm and beautifully treated melodics. stimmings feel for gently pushing the dancefloor into new places shines through. ‘rené is reworked by roman flügel, the ongaku/klang/playhouse boss whose influence on the european electronic music scene has been immense. always willing to experiment, ‘rené is the perfect canvas - arpeggiated blips and beeps echo primitive electronic explorations by the likes of francis bebey, and a huge subby kick drum take this track into space. alex boman sets to work on ‘jeanne, locking into his signature groovy, tribal approach to working the dancefloor. the swedish producer adds dubby elements, an irresistible percussion track and disruptive, random sounds to the thick, heady mix. dutch wunderkind satori tackles ‘jorge - twisting the original into a psychedelic groover that finds room for backwards vocals, marimba-like melodies, fat basslines and shuffling breakbeats.

mandala trax aka shingo suwa and dj mori is releasing a first ep on merkur schallplatten. shingo has established the label in 2008. dj mori is working as resident dj at suicide circus berlin. they often performed at many clubs in the city. their first collaboration includes two different versions of rave influenced techno remixes by anna bolena. anna is music producer, promoter and video maker, she is an underground activist since the 80 s. she runs the label idroscalo dischi since 1999 and since 2005 the video production company idroscalo digitale. they both are working as resident for buttonÆs party at ://about blank. a1, their very first track, is called 11pm. the main solid synth line features deep kick drums surrounded by dubby industrial effects in the background. on a2 we find a heavy bottom groove, surrounded by echoes in a dark atmosphere. hand claps and white noises are driving any techno floor. the b side includes two different version by anna bolena. she produced some 90Æs rave structures affected by her experimental senses.

dj punkadelix a.k.a. mayu kondo who based in tokyo, will starts a new project of music production called mayudepth. this ep titled -sneakpeek- featuring the voice by fashion model rie miyamoto and includes remix version by akiko kiyama who is an artist play on a global stage.the cover work shot by a female photographer masami sano and artwork by mayu kondo herself, this album artwork expresses her unique way of seeing things as a collaboration package with female artists working in various fields.the label is “shiki kyokai” which owner by dj shuffle master,who is an innovator of japanese techno sound, which continues to release from overseas top labels such as tresor and bpitch control.

estetika 001 introduces the first release of the new imprint of jason patrick and pat king. the label s objective is to release a signature style of timeless techno. berlin-based artist mekas (originally from buenos aires) delivers the first 3 track record, nodata. a1 starts off the release with lebreton featuring qik. thick kick and bass anchor a beautifully warm hypnotic synth riff that filters meticulously throughout the track working hand in hand with a subtle atmospheric pad and spacious reverb touches to create a uniquely huge engulfing sound. b1 is the second track titled marshfield, a heavy tune for peak time. its kick, toms, and bassline form a rugged groove for its dark synth, which along with the mysterious pad capture the essence of the track while ride cymbals glisten and automate throughout. b2 is the third and final track, nothing, which continues the dark and mysterious vibe of the release. an acidy mid-range synth part works along with an ominous pad and well programmed hi-hats, claps, and rides with just the right reverb treatment to provide space and depth to the track.

row goes back to a collecting of field recordings that hirsch took for oerol, an annual theatre festival taking place on the west frisian island of terschelling / nl. the recording was taken aboard the arad, a lifeboat of the dutch rowing team roeiteam ter- schelling recreatie during a training exercise on 25 april 2011. the course stretched from the harbour of west-terschelling out into the wadden sea and back again. the focus is on the coxswain’s commands which resemble a funk singer’s ones and which make the team become one body working their way through the waters.

alan abrahams aka portable aka bodycode is an artist very much defined by his past and his journey from south africa to paris via berlin and lisbon has seen him develop into a critically acclaimed producer, singer and video artist working with some of the biggest players in house and techno. part of his constant drive to evolve and challenge himself, this autumn abrahams launches new project ranger, teaming up with london label waella s choice for the debut release. the five tracks on portable presents ranger are a delicate mélange of jazz , soul and electronic and one of abraham s most explicit nods to his south african roots. on the a-side, the ep makes a steady start with bazokonwaba accompanied by a lullaby from south african a capella group korus, hailing from the small township of mbekweni in the western cape. they also feature heavily on the ep s most exuberant moment in nomaliso - already a favourite in esa s recent boiler room - and the more languid b-side opener indaba with a choir of cowbells all harmonizing in unison. reset and vessel provide a self-reflective conclusion to the ep, holding their own as instrumentals with cameroonian bass player stan on bass and parisian saxophonist chisneg lending a hand on the latter. early support from tama sumo, lakuti, gilles peterson, rinse fm, esa, stamp the wax, dimensions recordings

granny13 opens with nicola ratti’s “odd doubt”. with the use of a modular system and tape loops, a broken rhythm is obtained by parallelism between single sound signals as lfo one or processed tapes.
on the second side, giovanni lami’s “johnny leech” is made with a small bunch of equipment, just a chaotic hand-made synth (cacophonator) and a memoryman, working mainly on static electricity and leakage current in the synth used without any kind of power supply.

sleep-deprived, breakbeat-driven vignettes of unclear authorship, from somewhere west of lake lagoda, near the russia-finland border.sekundenschlaf has significant points of correspondence with contemporary european electronic music, as well as the golden age of (early) jungle and ambient techno. but its response to tradition, and to the zeitgeist, is idiosyncratic to say the least – with an atmosphere and psychogeography rooted in the tranquility and majesty of western russian nature, and the anxiety and distress of the country s post-soviet working class. pastoral calm meets dissonance and unease. the music has a loose, improvised feel, but its arrangements are intricate, its melodies iridescent: cascading arpeggios that stir a sense of optimism and renewal, sighing string-pads that evoke the deepest melancholy. rhythms simultaneously hyped-up and burned-out, collapsing in on themselves as they race to destinations unknown. all bound together with field recordings of eavesdropped conversations, blurred into abstraction, a droning subliminal menace.trust me, you ll be fine

get physical is proud to announce the release of the first ever album from chicago house luminary dj pierre. entitled wild pitch: the story, it collects originals and remixes old and new, and stands as a testament to the unique skill of one of dance musics most important figures. famously, dj pierre as good as invented the squelch of acid house when playing with his roland tr-303 drum machine as part of phuture back in the late eighties. from there he went on to clock up more than 200 credits under aliases like doomsday, prime one, raving lunatics, ac!d face, dj pierres afro acid project and many more. he also became famous for the wild pitch mixes and alias that lend this album its name: they were characterised by long intros, layer upon layer of strings, repetitive vocal samples, and filtered hypnotic sounds on hard beats. working with labels like strictly rhythm, trax, king street, nite grooves, international deejay gigolo and more recently get physical, pierre has contributed hugely to the global evolution of house music for thirty years plus. this is a timely reminder of that and one that is jam packed with essential tunes that, old or new, still sound impossibly fresh. included is a cover version of donna summers classic and pioneering disco cut ‘i feel love. it is a 9 minute masterpiece of loose drums, wild acid lines and synthesised squelches that build and build before the vocal arrives and carries you away to the stars

hugh ‘redman’ james is one of the greatest jamaican music producers of the late 1980s. raised in a musical household in the west kingston slum of hannah town, with his mother a sound system selector, redman gained his initial schooling in the music business from none other than king tubby, the legendary sound system owner and dub mixer that was responsible for voicing and mixing some of the greatest reggae of all time. after being immersed in sound system culture during his youth in the 1960s and 70s, redman began sitting in on sessions at king tubby’s studio, but migrated to hartford, connecticut in 1978 in search of steady employment. returning to jamaica a few years later, he established a popular sound system in kingston and began producing music with king tubby’s assistance in 1985, working with the roots radics during a time of great uncertainty in jamaican music, as the new dancehall style came to prominence, early work featured gregory isaacs, sugar minott and frankie paul, as well as rising stars such as little john and horace martin. then, following the computerisation of dancehall, redman began producing some of the most popular music of the day, crafting durable and complex rhythms with a broad team of players that included steely and clevie, augmented by members of the browne bunch and other players. redman helped establish a number of total unknowns in this era, including carl meeks, dave bailey and wayne palmer, and became a serious contender for king jammy’s crown. but the producer was ultimately frustrated by the dramatic changes to sweep jamaican music in the early 1990s, and subsequently retreated from the music industry redman international dancehall 1985-1989 compiles the best work from his glory days, with half of the twelve vocal tracks coming complete with corresponding dub versions.

the son of a radio dj who introduced him to the world of record collecting, harris grew up with music, progressing from violin, to high school drum line, to the jazz studies program at virginia commonwealth university. he also continued working with other instruments and developed an interest in sampling. his development as a producer at first, without a computer or sampler came first learning to replay samples on the drums, piano, bass or guitar. dj harrison finds himself inspired by local musicians in the richmond scene thats as diverse and nonexclusive as they come. among rappers, producers, punks and bluegrass bands, he falls within reach of an expansive pool of musicians to collaborate with. he lives and works in jellowstone, a house turned recording compound occupied by his band mates in butcher brown, a garage punk jazz funk group.

a tripped-out batch of hard jamming tracks from ex-mutante rita lee – recorded with assistance from all the members of the group at the time, but in a mode that’s quite different overall! lee is clearly the star of the show here – singing all lyrics with a much fiercer vocal approach than on her earlier solo album – pushing things hard to keep up with the jamming keyboards of arnaldo baptista and guitar of sergio dias – both of whom are working with the energy that would show up in the mutantes styles in the years after lee departed. one of the most compelling aspects of the record is the structure of the tunes – less conventionally rockish overall than the direction os mutantes were moving towards – and still with that strong dramatic flair that lee always provided when in the group. titles include -vamos tratar da saude-, -amor branco e preto-, -superficie do planeta-, -teimoisia-, -tapupukitipa-, -beija me amor-, and -frique como-.

the third album from the legendary os mutantes – part of the essential trio of sides released during the tropicalia years! the record’s got a sound that’s tighter and a bit more straightforward than their previous efforts – stricter song formats, and styles that lean heavily on rockish guitars and organ. but as the odd cover images on the front and back will attest, the band is still in a very creatively arty mode here – still working strongly with arranger rogerio duprat, in a wash of sounds and moods that fold contemporary music back upon itself with plenty of odd twists, turns, and surprises! titles include -desculpe babe-, -oh mulher infiel-, -quem tem medo de brincar de amor-, -hey boy-, -haleluia-, -ave, lucifer-, and -meu refrigerador nao funciona-.

quite possibly the last truly sublime album ever recorded by os mutantes – a set that’s a bit more rock-oriented then their first few, but still pretty revolutionary overall! the group have expanded to a quintet at this point, but haven’t yet falling into the guitar-heavy groove of later years – and rogerio duprat is working with the group on arrangements, although mutantes member arnaldo baptista is handling production chores himself. odd styles still slide into the mix as the tunes roll on – creating that great sense of surprise that makes their best work so great, and keeping things fresh even when a bit more straight ahead! titles include a reprise of -baby-, one of the group’s early classics – plus -portugal de navio-, -virginia-, -tecnicolor-, -el justicero-, -lady, lady-, -sarava-, -it’s very nice pra xuxu-, and -top top-.

les graciés is a collaboration in the truest sense between paris-based sound artist gaël segalen and deepblak co-founder afrikan sciences. segalen’s experiments in electroacoustic sound met the wider world this year via a debut lp for erratum, an arresting work that showcases her ability to merge hypnotic murk ala angus maclise with the hard concréte of parmegiani & reibel. segalen’s ihearu imprint / organisation is a platform for her various doings, including psychogeographical audio works and multi-media collaborations, as well as servicing as a reference point for other contemporary female artists working across various mediums. eric douglas porter aka african sciences has been deconstructing and re-building forms of contemporary black music since the mid-2000’s, through releases on deepblak (the label he co-runs with aybee) and pan. his musical universe is one of warping cadences and celestial melody, referencing the bold work of percussionists like milford graves & art jenkins, the dissonant chords of motor city techno and stripped back essence of early chicago house matched with broken hard bop sentiments: all tied together with an aesthetic that sits somewhere between sun ra’s omniverse, jean giraud mœbius and dogon cosmology. together as le graciés, segalen and porter make a wholly unclassifiable strain of music that, while containing recognisable elements of each individual s work, also creates a third entity in the process, which can be heard to stunning effect on their forthcoming debut lp ‘low doses’ for firecracker recordings.

basse resolution presents here an ep conceived with passion by a young and promising parisian duo, loop exposure. the ep consist in in 2 tracks they made together and two tracks they made alone, under their solo alias hdv and mmmh, revealing a large spectrum in their musical influences and productions.

it all started in march 2016 when attek and guy johnson met each other at their school in utrecht (nl). they immediately started working together on some house projects, it was the beginning of a great friendship. when mentor and friend dj caspa sended over some oldskool vinyl which he recorded from his magical collection, things really took off. with deep characteristic pads, uplifting drums, soft chords and warm smootchy vocals, attek and guy johnson went all out with this warm ep. strctr is proud to introduce another beautiful piece of art, mastered once again by the house legend dj steaw.

nice price deal !!! the new ep from montreal/berlin based label parages music is a collection of deep and percussive jams from jonattan levingstone. a well balanced ep, where the groove is constent with diverse influences from afro elements, dub techno and detroit house. on the flip side,>billie< is a deep house stunner with detroit style keyboards, subtle tribal elements and >secret, not so secret< soulfull vocal sample that will get stuck in your head for hours ... contributing to the ep, is canadian house prodigy, the mole, working a robotic and groovy remix of >billie<.

the third release for la freund recordings comes from amsterdam resident beraber. consisting of four strong and diverse tracks and a jazzy, piano-heavy remix by chicago house legend vincent floyd, sun ritual works just as well in the club as it does at home. after working on hiphop and downtempo electronica under different aliases, this ep sees baris akardere venturing into up-tempo territories, marking the debut of his beraber moniker. all tracks were written and produced during the last two years, combining digital instruments like the korg m1 and yamaha dx7 with analog gear like the roland juno-6 and korg ms-10. kicking things off on the a-side is title track sun ritual, a positive and warm tune with lush chords and arpeggiated synths. after a surprising outro, it gets the remix treatment by deep house pioneer vincent floyd, who adds multiple layers to it and delivers a stunning, dreamy eight-minute take on the original. the flipside opens with ugly, a soulful club workout with a deep bassline, rolling drums with crisp hi-hats and a hypnotic melody. next up is introspect, a serious electro-tinged cut with heavy juno chords building up tension as the track evolves. rounding it up nicely, forest rain treats us to an intimate broken-beat affair laced with rhodes chords and field recordings from bali.

one of the hardest rocking albums ever cut by os mutantes – a record that’s got a slightly ironic take on rock and roll styles of the time – still performed with the sense of drama and humor that always made the band so great! rita lee and arnaldo baptista are still in the group at this point, and they’re working amidst a heavy wave of guitars that echo out with a bit of keyboards and some rhythms that are chunky enough to almost be called funky at times, but sweet and dreamy at others – all produced with a flanged-out finish that makes the whole thing sound great!

a1/ guehi jean pantalon s craqué guéhi jean is a key figure of ivorian music and many of his records mixing funk, jazz and afrobeat are sought after nowadays. having left africa in order to make it in france, he recorded this digital afrobeat hit in paris, then went back to his native country where he died in 2012. despite his talent, guéhi jean didn t get the recognition he deserved.

b1/ jean-michel gascuel s dominus this french composer who collaborated with pierre schaeffer was also a great lyricist working for the likes of vivian vee or suzy andrews, and a fashion designer. with its latin touch, this track is a little ufo standing out of the rest of his french productions, so let us be blessed by dominus domine dominarum.
b2/michel robidoux les planètes this track by composer michel robidoux featured on a kidisk with a book called -visitons les planètes avec goldorak- and was released in canada in 1980. this incredible space jam was chosen as a macaroon for this new ep – our tribute to an amazing composer who wrote more than 325 songs and even collaborated with leonard cohen.

the next bedrock release is the result of a collaborative project of the highest order from three of the scene s most respected creative mavericks - gabriel ananda, john digweed and nick muir. their collective concept of electronic music ventures into a vast, unexplored field of endless possibilities and is the futuristic two-part tachyon dream. a year in the making, the project started with john (who is a massive fan) reaching out to gabriel to see if he would be interested in working on a project together with nick. gabriel already had a demo in mind that he had started and the project was soon up and running.

reginald omas mamode iv has a terrific track record thus far. since delivering his debut 12inch back in 2013, hes barely put a foot wrong, with last years intimate friends released mini-album, all together, being a particular highlight. this debut full-length is every bit as impressive as youd expect, with the peckham producer relying a little less on dusty samples, and rather more on loose, live drums, rubbery bass guitar, dreamy rhodes keys, and other luscious instrumentation. as usual, the assembled tracks effortlessly join the dots between jazzy instrumental hip-hop, neo-soul, mauritian drum workouts, broken beat and humid, tropical-tinged grooves.
