sing with me: much in the same vein of the mannheim house sound made popular by artists like johnny d, nick curly, christian burkhardt etc. bretts gives us a deep but driving track centered around an african boy singing. brett chops the sample up to create a choir of ethereal voices to support the boys singing. as the track progresses it takes a left turn into weirdville through some dramatic synth tweaks & sweeps. this track is perfect for anyone who likes to dance standing up, with their head down and first firmly in the air. speaking japanese: many people will tell you learning to speak japanese is one of the most difficult languages to learn, and theyre right. lucky for you, brett has done all the work by translating his message into sound. the core inspiration for this track is based on a sample from a song by get physical owner and artist mandy. they were kind enough to let brett use the sample and run wild with it. the result is 8 minutes and 12 seconds of over driven 909s, rolling bass lines and a pad so thick you need a fork to eat it. all of this keeps the calm while frantic chatter and out of this world fxs take you to a japanese after party somewhere in shibuya.

despite having deep roots within the club scene as a acclaimed producer, remixer and busy dj, kasper bjørke has in the past years been focusing his own album productions on song oriented compositions, suitable for home listening rather than the dance floor. the djs and ravers have been kept busy with remixes of his original versions - but for this new release, kasper turns his own full attention to the business of making people move. fountain of youth is a mini-lp drawing on kaspers 15 years immersed in club culture and inspired by some of the genres he plays in his own dj sets around the world, house, classic electro, post disco and techno.

in the space of two short years shlømo has quickly established himself alongside the likes of marcelus, bambounou, francois x and the antinote records crew as a key figure in paris’ current techno generation. having established his own taapion records label in 2013 and built a roster around a core of local producers including roman poncet, pvnv and antigone, in addition to enlisting stephen brown, conforce and sterac as remixers for the label’s releases so far. for its fifth release, bright sounds - run by fellow parisian kennedy smith - revisits last year’s rechaïm ep (bsrx003), with a trio of remixers offering their own takes on shlømo’s established deep and expansive sound. first up is the aforementioned 50 weapons artist bambounou, who offers a dynamic groove-based version of the title track that bounces along an elastic kick drum with cut-up fragments of the original’s atmospheric pads providing further impetus. label owner kennedy smith takes on theory is the worst by bringing its dub textures to the for while filling the track’s empty spaces with intricate drum patterns. finally, italian techno pioneer donato dozzy turns grounded queen into a classic dozzy slow-burning techno trip, with his trademark layered sound complimenting the track’s subtle rhythmic backbone.

as the d edge label clocks up release number 24, it turns to the phil hinter ensemble for a fantastic three track package that is filled with fresh house vibes. phil hinter ensemble is a joint project by phil s main pillars philogresz and german simon hinter. they have ties with labels like their own phil, love unlimited vibes and of course d-edge. previous eps have gone down well around the world and simon hinter s smart grooves and sample based fill-ins blends with the wombastic bass and shivering synth lines of philogresz perfectly. up first is the owl, a squelchy, synthetic house track with lively drums and chords and magical trumpets all making for a party starting track. it is perfectly arranged and expertly musical, unlike much of today s plastic and sample heavy sounds. in the air then gets even more playful with glossy synth stabs, rumbling bass and diva vocals all bouncing along in a charismatic style that is full of colour. struggle then gets intimate and final with scurrying little percussive sounds, burst of afro vocal, down low sine waves and icy snares all making for a perfectly seductive minimal techno brew

as mood ii swing, production duo lem springsteen and john ciafone became one of the most in-demand remixers in the late 90s. the duo s production career began modestly, however. after a failed attempt at r&b, the two turned to house music. early productions such as sylvano s * helpless* and wall of sound s *critical* were a step in the right direction, as were releases such as -i need a bitch- for cutting and -searchin - for groove on, but it was the duo s remixes of ultra naté s * free* for strictly rhythm that struck gold. the song became a huge hit and soon mood ii swing was remixing big-name producers like bt (-remember-) and king britt (* the reason*) as well as the next ultra naté single, * found a cure*, which also became a huge hit record around the world. then, as a testament to the duos success, the new york-based nervous have dug up the remixes mood ii swing did for the label during their seminal mid 90s period re mastered and re released on wax for 2016.

2015 has been a busy year for soul intent. relocating from nottingham to bromley, releasing -the fruit club ep- on lossless in march, his -wanna fight ep- dropped on klute s commercial suicide in august, the sci-fi themed -replicant- marked lossless music s first digital only release in october and his -late night sleaze ep- has been awarded mixmag s dnb tune of the month (nov 15 issue). on top of all this alex is about to launch two (yes two!!) sub-labels for lossless music. the first of these is exkursions. exkursions will cater for the deeper, more experimental side of dnb & electronic music. though concentrating it s tempo focus around the 170 mark exkursions will also be taking explorations down into slower soundscapes. the first release is a 3 tracker from soul intent and the tracks have already turned the heads of respected selectors including doc scott, presha, loxy and logistics. we won t say much for than that, we ll let the music do the talking.

following the release of the ‘extraction’ and ‘hydraulic pressure’ 12”s earlier this year, adventice – the incendiary collaboration between dj deep and roman poncet, returns to tresor. while taking the groove up quite a few notches, and as per its two predecessors, ‘exsurgence’ unfolds in three different versions around a common theme.
the ‘main mix’ opens into hammering chords yet taking a delicate turn into an synth-heavy refrain. on the flip, the ‘reduced mix’ follows the same composition while playful and cinematic as the use of hihats add a skip to your step and pick up the pace. the ‘percussive mix’ and its rapid drum patterns, exude a fragrance of vocals triggering endless soundscapes.
with this new three track single, dj deep and roman poncet deliver a fierce package, another warning for what is still to come for the duo.

imyrmind debuts on tartelet with a four-tracker ranging from banging mpc techno to contagious latin house and laidback jazzy wonk. after finishing a degree in architecture and relocating to berlin earlier this year, imyrmind stepped up his game with the release of his solo debut on astro & graef s money $ex imprint. this november will see the release of the beatsmiths second solo venture on tartelet records. the opening track tong po is imyrmind s take on techno, inspired by the villain from jean claude van damme s 1989 cult classic kickboxer. a heavy pitched kick drum, fuzzy melodies with generous use of tape delay and a badass bass line dropping around the three-minute mark makes this a peak time candidate. wanja 9000 slows down the pace. dusty jazz samples and wonky beats with sloppy turntable cuts add a nice live feel to the track. on the b-side upturn sets the mood with classic salsa percussion infused with an epic brass and piano hook that could very well stem from the infamous palmieri brothers or one of their contemporaries. embrace your inner latino and follow your hips. the last track of the record number seven completes the circle with venturous drum programming, layered melodies and plenty of early morning ambiance. imyrmind is scheduled for a three week australia, nz and asia tour in november alongside long-time collaborator glenn astro.

enemy returns with another remix package including efforts from some of our favorite producers at the moment. this collective includes the crafty and credible sound of vril, the legendary steve bicknell, and house musics latest tastemakers mr. tophat and art alfie. getting the remix treatment this time around is dustin zahns 2014 comeback release, >new day rising<. monsieur tophat and his esteemed colleague art alfie surprised us by turning in a very dark and stompy techno rendition of >lost in rapture<. it goes without saying that this one is definitely geared towards the time of the night when things get a little weird. vril follows up with an excellent take on >new day rising< by keeping the tension for nearly three minutes before the reese-like bassline drops in and causes the track to evolve into a groove that demands instant attention. steve bicknell rounds out the package with the peak-time hammer! its relentless, heady, and undoubtedly bicknell! this one has >rave< written all over it.

for the sixth release on people must jam, we headed to poland to find two very special guys that make up ptaki. ptaki have been making ripples around the world for their unique approach to putting together a record or two and having just recently dropped their album przelot those ripples have turned to waves. we are proud to announce their new record - antypody that will possibly turn those waves tidal! ptaki have delivered a wonderful varied ep with four different cuts. kicking off with the crazy uptempo hi-nrg disco cut milosc after which the record moves into the more gorgeous balearic territory of termy. this blew us all away when we first heard it. on the flip lotnik showcases some solid house roots before the ep ending on the porn sampling and rather brilliant radio roman. we are really stoked to have these boys on board for what we feel is going to be a very sought after record. 180g vinyl - strictly limited.

spherical collections of stars form around black holes in situ, that is, locally to their cosmic neighbourhoods. it is said that future space colonization will rely on sourcing supplies in situ. construction in situ uses raw materials at the site: colossal sculptures such as naqsh-e rustam, the leshan giant buddha and mount rushmore were built in this fashion. wild, organic machine grooves, with a mind’s eye on naked treetops and an early sunset. melody breathes out from dubwise fx, percussion by turns sinewy and floating, sub blasts and stripped synth arrangements. keys on air. spacious, witty, melancholic, deadly.

constantly turning around itself, the winding melody of vertere turns outward and inward at the same time, bringing the listener on a journey outward while mirroring a simultaneous labyrinthine journey inward. like the word itself, vertere, with its roots in the latin word verto (which itself takes its roots in the earlier sanskrit word, vartayati) it signifies the very nature of change itself. it means both to turn and reflect inward and yet also move forward — a call to action for setting in motion new things. a paradox at first glance but also perhaps a surprisingly accurate description of the destructive and reconstructive nature of creation. an apt metaphor for this bright new collaboration between established life and death artists mind against and the new artist project of federico maccherone, aka somne. on remix duties, when you have an artist of the caliber of tobias freund, you don t need to ask for anything more and with his outstanding remix of vertere he very clearly shows why. this long time mainstay of the electronic music scene has managed to stay not just relevant but on the cutting edge longer than most with respected releases on some of the most seminal imprints to be putting out music in the world of underground dance music. with vertere he takes what s already top quality material and somehow manages to turn it inward and in his own unique way elevate it to another level entirely. with a relentless beat and a sonic force that is hard to describe with mere words the tobias. remix of vertere comes out of the gate like a runaway machine rapturously drunk on its own self awareness. it marches ever forward, full of fervor, and will surely be driving dance floors both large and small to the euphoric edge of the ecstatic state.

for moss co. s fourth release, and first solo artist ep, they look to londons antony difrancesco. antony s selective output on other london labels like fuse and othertones, has seen regular support from the highest echelons of house and techno. his enviable collection of hardware, and seemingly endless flow of creative ideas, are displayed brilliantly on mossv004. the record opens with vio - a mystical track, filled with toms, bass and groove tied together with ethnic strings and an eerie pad. left takes more of an experimental turn, with playful bass bouncing around the spectrum, complemented with analogue squelches. a beautifully warm pad brings an element of romance to the track, and crisp tops keep it dance-floor focused. on the remix, martinez uses his signature concealed sound to devastating effect, transforming track into a sleek, minimalistic, late-night affair.

dear wanderer, ramona is happy to present the video dead, chinaski s debut-­ep for live at robert johnson. originally hailing from the high north of germany, rostock near the rough and stormy sea, the young man with interests in 80s video-­aesthetics and vintage synthesizers is now calling offenbach his home­turf. chinaskis ep starts out with time to kill, a straight forward hypnotizing jacker directly heading to the synthesized happiness. midnight workout features a different side to the young talent sensitive placed synth harmonies packed in a vintage-­pop interlude. after a journey through more harmonious domains, night school turns the page again and picks up on those synth-waves and put ramona away from her calm drive through the midnight heat, right on the dancefloor mesmerizing analogue deep housevibes all over the place.hide society steps out of context and mixes chinaskis affection for the warmth of these marvelous synth-­sounds with trippy post-­breaking or even proto-­hiphop sounds topped off with a weird vocal sample. the title­track the video dead summons all emotional power ramona could implant into a synthesizer, the heartbeat like reduced kick-­drum and hihats floating around the track are mostly incidental or not even there for the ears. purely visual.

two pieces of snarling filter house from nyc heavyweights robbie busch aka dj mcboing boing - record dealer to the stars, digger extraordinaire, & dj of sweaty underground parties around the world, and josh dunn - one part of the sorely missed 100 limousines, and one third of the holy trinity that put on new york s legendary foreal people party. for two guys so deeply immersed in the rich history of urban dance music, from the blues & gospel through deep disco, soul, chicago and detroit sounds, you could be forgiven for expecting to hear a rich homage to the sounds of the past. instead we get the future ghost of ron hardy playing the record backwards on a janky turntable with a quarter for a counterweight and fucking shit up in every conceivable way. these two are chiefly concerned with moving things forward, having some fun, and taking no prisoners along the way. golf channel every time !

this release captures kicks, rhythms, and snares—only to drag them kicking and screaming into a metallic underworld. in j. tijn’s echo-sphere, there are only allusions to the status quo of sound and beats, and never a full-fledged embrace of the conventional. on side a’s “kanon v.i.p.” a grizzly digital war is left to play out between both kick and snare, with grainy battle lines drawn around upbeat and downbeat. survivors of the conflict are rewarded with a groove reminiscent of grime, if only the genre had been reborn in a dystopian future. side b opens with a roughneck beat on “mor” before turning its hand into a fist and effectively destroying its own image. the groove lives through this barrage of sound, but as a heavy and dark undercurrent just strong enough to remind you where j.tijn’s roots are. “shy” lures you in with a rounded electro kick, before glutting the rhythm and ushering in a wall of sound. a snowstorm of screaming drum samples proceed to surround you: you may have been here before, but you are somewhere rhythmically unseen. embedded in all of these tracks are perhaps a sign of the times: the things that used to be seen as normal have now changed and mutated.

michael l penman s lazy boy opens up proceedings on a dark and hypnotic tip with dreamy pad lines, modulating bass tones and weighty distorted rhythms. belgium s igor vicente reworks lazy boy next and provides a more reduced take on things with sparse percussive elements and menacing atmospheres. on the flip side scott kemp turns in sirma , a subtly unfolding groove-led number built around stripped rhythms and soft synth flourishes, while sascha dive rounds off the package by reshaping sirma into a brooding, seven-minute mesmeric workout.

after the last lessizmore release found san proper and maayan nidam crossing swords for the simmering, jammed-out tones of it was a night like this, now the label turns to another close ally for a slice of discerning, upfront house music. louis mcguire lives many different lives in music, from drumming with indie pop outfit ballet school to playing bass for lo-fi electronica group the waves & us. now though his own solo productions are being noticed in the house and techno world, with this new ep following on from a well-received debut on supply records. the diversity of mcguire’s musical leanings feeds into his distinctive sound, as his own take on stripped down, sensual house music bristles with unconventional energy to make for an unforgettable experience that steps up to the most creative frontiers of dance music. live drum sounds rattle around the mix free from quantized safety, while the melodic tones come on warm and fuzzy, capturing the hazy romance of a late morning session as much as the early part of the evening. it’s apparent that mcguire’s weapon of choice is the mpc, channeling his love of gritty beats in the grand tradition of point g and j. dilla. you can hear the spirit of the most adventurous micro house pioneers in the quirky funk of light hearted, while Óreitha revels in the transcendental qualities of a sustained groove without even a whisper of monotony. even with these unusual qualities the music is resolutely built for the dancefloor, and that mcguire manages to be so creative and so focused in the same beat is reason enough to keep tabs on this multifarious and unpredictable operator.

creme organization turn to the mysterious ivvvo and lisbon producer lake haze for a new single that comes backed with a remix from label regular legowelt. the single 1 is a hard hitting but fuzzy, misty and hugely spacious house track with deep jacking drums, haunting synths spiralling all around and freaky voices buried deep within. hugely atmospheric and lovably imperfect, it then gets remixed by legowelt. his version of the track flips it on its head, strips back some of the white noise fuzz and reimagines it as a driving techno cut with impish chords, retro arps and high pressure stabs. its a peak time bomb and ensures that this release is a high impact one indeed.

the globally trendsetting house and techno family that is visionquest now turns to a new pairing of sonny fodera & gene farris for their debut ep on the label. entitled ‘we work it’, the two-track affair comes with a remix by visionquest man lee curtiss. australian sonny fodera has been at the sharp end of the dance music scene for years now, clocking up huge hits both solo and with green velvet aka cajmere, releasing albums such as afterparties & aeroplanes and appearing on cajual, defected, suara and many more top labels. gene farris, of course, is a chicago house legend who has been active since the nineties, runs his own farris wheel label and has released close to one hundred definitive eps on relief, soma and many others. up first, ‘we work it’ is a lithe ritual of house funk with bent synths and slick mid tempo drums. a spoken word vocal snippet muses on the intake of various substances and the drums roll on infectiously below. it’s sure to be a standout anthem in the months to come given that vocal line and the spiritualness of the keys all around only adds to the effect. the first remix comes from lee curtiss. this one is a much quicker and more peak time bit of tech house with textured, dynamic bass and plenty of drum fills. it’s an involved, more cosmic and tense take on the original, that will build great pressure on the dance floor. all in all this is another on point package from visionquest that will get played far and wide

recorded from rudys homemade studio in hampton virginia before he cut *searching for love* on harvest records around 1983, he did this wonderful modern synth winner. with rudy just having one pass on a reel of this song, we remastered it a little at the super disco hq to give it a brighter feel. sure its pretty lo-fi but the quality of the song writing playing and melodies are more than enough to let is see the joys of a turntable. this is once again a limited press.

hello. this is pastamusik speaking. for more then 10 years the munich based label issues with constant inconstancy special musical tales from the underground. and since not all stories told and not all songs played and yet not all cows have returned home, we are ready to add another chapter within this tradition. pastamusik proudly presents with “collage” by macchina nera it’s first long player. the talented munich based dj and producer macchina nera already draw some attention with his first release in 2005 (under a different alias). followed by several releases on different labels around the world he finally found a solid home base with pastamusik, that resulted in a number of successful releases. so it was a logic consequence in taking the next step and to compile the highlights from his last two years productions in his first album. munich meets munich. or even better – munich meets the world. then all of the sudden tracks of macchina nera became regulars in the sets of various djs around the globe. and this is where he starts with his first album and tells with his unique symbiotic style of house, disco, techno and funk little musical tales from the cities and it’s clubs, from all night dance, glimmering dancefloors and dark corners, from big love and big dramas…..even if it only lasts for one night. and as versatile and diversified like these nights are the consistently energetic tracks, full of unexpected turns and small details that make it worth to listen a little closer enough said for now, let the music speak for itself. the album will be available in vinyl, cd and digital release, available at real record stores as well as in the digital world of internet. here comes the soundtrack for spring, summer, autumn an of course for winter. timeless! beautiful!. thank you!.kisses! your pastamusik.
