a chance encounter in barcelona, spain brought us together to make this record happen. it’s a precious little marvel of love from kou keri kou and electric cowbell. based in barcelona, spain, the group began with the aim of making music to dance to, taking inspiration from all over the world with no fear: the music from cuba, perú, jamaica, congo and nigeria is as important for kou keri kou as the music played in europe or in the united states. los zafiros, gary numan, los destellos, radio futura, sunny ade and kiko veneno share place in their imagination and help them create open-minded pop that always looks to the future. their lyrics are sometimes open, sometimes a bit more cryptic, sometimes political and sometimes biting, but always try to communicate with the listeners while trying to make them dance. they’ve been playing together for two years, creating songs that didn’t exist before, urging the people to dance and singing about their issues, which may also be yours.

great return of the classic and pioneer band of the french funk scene! after a long absence, malka family reformed, burned some scenes and composed a new album without changing anything to its magic formula. recomposed with almost all original musicians, they come back today with a new album, le retour du kif. at the heart of a still popular and multicultural marais area in paris, young musicians gather to jam. this is where malka family is formed. their first self-produced album, malka on the beach, was released in 1991, and gigs were immediately chaining up all over france and europe, famous for their eccentric costumed performance and after-parties. in 1992, warner france signs them for a second album tous des oufs, a real p-funk space opera with guests such as sidney, dee nasty, marco prince (fff), or juan rozoff. they will then traveled france, switzerland, italy, holland, denmark, namibia, japan ... and in 1994, the band becomes independent again and records an ep for big cheese records, titled fricassee de funk. after a final tour for the third album, fotoukonkass (bmg) recorded with renaud létang the band finally broke up. at a time when daft punk is using funk artists to support their performance, when bruno mars & mark ronsons uptown funk continues to make the crowds dance, it s time for the original funkateers families to come back and teach a lesson to new generations. after the band reformed and started touring again since 2015, they quickly decided to record a new album and to leave on the roads again

uncage founder marco faraone debuts on rekids, dropping four techno cuts on the label’s special projects series this march. the italian producer has had a busy few years touring north america, south america and europe, not to mention dropping releases on labels like ovum and tenax recordings. meanwhile his uncage imprint, which he runs alongside norman methner, has quickly cemented a reputation for quality house and techno, releasing music from artists like eduardo de la calle, pablo mateo and fabio della torre (under his corcos moniker). with its rolling percussion and a heady spoken word sample, find the song introduces a quintessential rekids record. thunderous kick drums and piercing stabs then form the high-octane arcane before the dark and ominous justice demonstrates industrial elements and floating atmospherics. tying it all together, tantalizing melodies join echoing effects for the final track titled layers.

stimming x lambert on kryptox. stimming x lambert have done an album together: exodus! this duo debut will be released on the new berlin based kryptox label on 9th march 2018. kryptox is the new label for neo -jazz/kraut/classical music my by gomma and toy tonics founder mathias munk modica. stimming is one of the main names in german advanced techno. he first appeared to the public with cooperations with david august and solomun on diynamic records. later he did orchestral techno works and is by now one of the leading names in his genre. lambert is one of the rising starts of german neo-classical music. the pianoman with the mask. after 3 albums (some recorded with little help by niels frahm) he is selling out venues all over europe. together stimming x lambert created a new approach on postmodern, romantic, krauty electronica mixed with classical piano elements

emotional rescue returns to the the work of remix specialists extraordinaire, razormaid, with a special collection of their remixes of cold wave / dark wave synth band, psyche. featuring unreleased, re-edited and remastered versions of some of the bands most club-based tracks on one ep for the first time. formed in 1982 in edmonton, canada by darrin and stephen huss out of love of the new electronic sounds emanating out of europe, psyche soon forged their own path. influenced by the industrial and post-punk sounds of bands like killing joke and alien sex fiend, as well as the synth pop melodies of groups like soft cell and yazoo, the brothers help precipitate the start of darker electronic goth sound.

nyc native eric maltz has been a professional producer and pianist for more than 20 years. after landing on the techno scene in 2017 with the double vinyl “ns-17” ep on levon vincent’s novel sound, eric maltz releases his first single on his own label flower myth. opening on the title track , a bruising slice of machine techno, the live touch of the new-york producer stands out throughout “pathway”. on “ah-shu-de-ohu”, paranoid chimes swirl out of focus while chopped up vocals command attention. free floating chords glide through a meditative soundscape on closer “line through”. flower myth will release 4 more singles from eric maltz throughout 2018, one of them a collaboration with cristina valentina, the powerful voice from “we have power” (ns17). having recently signed with uzuri booking and artist management, eric will soon be bringing his singular live techno to his home-base city of berlin and other major cities across europe and the world.

placed under the media spotlights in 2011 thanks to their joyful and loony indie pop, concrete knives went on to sign with the legendary uk imprint bella union (beach house, fleet foxes, lift to experience, etc.). their first album be your own king was successfully released the following year, selling more than 7000 copies in france alone and sending the group of friends on the road to play more than 150 live dates all over europe. quiet for the past six years and after recording with danish producer andreas pallisgaard (trentemøller, goat, pinkunoizu), the band is set to return with a much awaited second effort on the french label vietnam (h-burns, chevalrex pharaon de winter).

autonomia, first released only on cd in 1993, was mostly a solo project of simon crab with the aid of christoph fringeli of praxis, recorded after a 2-month tour in the usa and europe. typically bourbonese qualk, this album delivers the opposite of the listeners expectations, breaking the mold set by the two previous albums, my government is my soul and unpop. autonomia sets out in a completely different direction of harsh electronic no compromise techno and has become a classic in the field, making this vinyl release well overdue!

white on white is an absorbingly dynamic, multi-layered album of improvisations made on the seminal ppg wave synth, inspired by the work, life and theories of the great, if forgotten, british constructivist artist marlow moss (1889-1958): a radical, gender-bending british jewish lesbian and innovator of non-figurative art who was a then-contemporary influence on piet mondrian, with whom she worked alongside from the late 1920s as part of the abstraction-creation artists association in paris, until the nazi’s forced her from mainland europe back to england, where she settled in the far west of cornwall.

following on from a hectic summer touring across the globe, ny producer joeski returns to the studio to create his next release, due on crosstown rebels in 2018. the release unfolds with the original version of i want you - a fierce, driving beat is juxtaposed alongside the sensual and smoldering vocal as the bassline rumbles on. pure 4am, fist pumping pleasure. the flip side introduces the disco mix of the title track. but don’t let the ‘disco’ lull you into a false sense of security. the track is fuelled by intense industrial sounding smashes and an abundance of layers that creep ever closer. a founding member of nyc’s the chocolate factory dj collective, joeski has been a staple in the underground scene in new york since 1991, holding down a residency at the city’s famed nightclub- roxy. he’s played alongside the likes of danny tenaglia, louis vega and roger sanchez. his career has seen him release on electrik soul, siesta, chez and camouflage as well as launching his own imprint maya records in 2001. this year, the prolific producer has juggled a jam-packed touring schedule taking in australia, new zealand, south america and europe, as well as ibiza for do not sleep and misfits.

possession records proudly present the new album by soft riot, entitled -the outsider in the mirrors-. soft riot is the stylised musical alter-ego of jjd, canadian by birth and an ex-resident of london and sheffield, now based in glasgow (so not unfamiliar with sites of post-industrial decay!). with over twenty years of playing in various post-punk and synth-punk bands, he has been crafting the sound of soft riot since the early turn of the decade, releasing a slew of albums across a multitude of labels and touring obsessively around europe and beyond. with -the outsider in the mirrors-, his sixth full-length, he has found a new home for his sound on possession records, a fledgling glasgow imprint founded by jjd, claudia nova (aka hausfrau) and andy brown (ubre blanca). their aim is to bring together their pool of musical talents and provide a more permanent home for their future creative endeavours, whether it be music, video or otherwise and to experiment with what it is to be a -label- in the ever evolving 21st century. future projects and releases will see them getting a select group of their peers and friends involved in possession s focused vision, locally or from further afield.
