following their release of the michael turtle 12inch last year, music from memory now publish phantoms of dreamland a compilation of works by the uk musician recorded between 1983-1985. tip! this double lp features tracks drawn from the recording sessions for turtles album music from the living room and also collects material turtle recorded shortly after that, for an album which would never materialise. with three tracks taken from music from the living room’ and the rest of the compilation entirely made up of unreleased tracks, phantoms of dreamland draws on an illustrious period for michael.

oona dahl joined us at all day i dream last year both as a dj and recording artists. her first release high eyes was featured on our summer sampler and floated onto the dance floor and into the consciousness of dj s around the world. oona studied sound design in the usa before moving to berlin over the summer of 2015 to continue honing and crafting her sound. her first full ep for adid features deep dreamscapes and innovative arrangements underpinned by solid grooves that capture emotive, twisted melodic expressions. she and her music are a trip to the depths.

recently appearing on the mighty crosstown rebels with a remix of shaun j. wright & alinka ‘face the truth’, sought after duo audiojack are back serving up a solid two-track release in the form of ‘turya’. turya is built for serious heads down sessions fusing subtle acid pads with soaring synths and sonorous spoken words. the hypnotic quality of the teacher’s words beguiles and entrances the dance floor, allowing people to lose themselves in them and its evolving groove. ‘event horizon’ is a different beast altogether, with a heavy drum and bass vibe, a four-four format, and a classic -amen- break beat style. in 2015 audiojack launched their sunday social free party at veto club in their home of ibiza, which after a strong season will continue this year. their first essential mix recently dropped on radio 1 and a string of highly successful releases and remixes on labels such as hot creations, tsuba, 20/20 vision and their own gruuv has solidified their place in the dance music elite. it’s safe to say that 2016 is proving to be a big year for the talented duo.

the second of this year’s smd singles on their own delicacies label is features another two original tracks, leading with the hypnotic, late night techno loping of “remember in reverse”, drenched in glistening synths. the second track, “soft attack” takes a much more direct approach, with a brash battering of crash cymbals on every 4th bar marking time as a sinuous synth melody curls around the rhythmatic trunk. “soft attack (drum version)” pares it down even further, excising the melody for a minimal dj tool. also included here is a remix of ‘remember in reverse” from 90s mid west techno legend, dj hyperactive, who we’re super excited to have on this release. he extensive 11 minute rework transforms the track, sprinkling it with subtle doses of acid. after a short hiatus following their modular-only, desert recorded last album “whorl”, during which smd s james ford found himself on production duties for everyone and their dog, smd are back with bunch of techno cuts on their own delicacies label. over a couple of months in jas shaw s newly re-located synth-dense studio in leafy kent, which saw smd once again experiment with live jams as the basis for their production, they’ve pulled together a selection of eight tracks for release as a series of four singles over the coming months. smd fans will note that the earlier naming convention of delicacies has fallen by the wayside – for the simple reason that we’ve pretty much run out of weird and wonderful food stuffs to steal names from. instead, a semi-random automated process has been used to create the track names.

the second of two zentrum spinoffs is with us! as with the first, it comes loaded with four remixes. octo octa, vito & druzzi, cooper saver and turbotito, and lemonade all handed in top-notch reimaginings of tracks off jacques renault s debut lp, which came out just under a year ago, and they all somehow manage to be unique unto themselves while also sublimely bleeding into one another. octo octas rendering of mi casa samba serves as a propulsive beginning thats as dark and druggy as it is sharp and focused. vito & druzzis take on faith runs in a similar vein, but in a more stripped-back, drawn-out, and patient sort of way, it is nearly ten minutes long, so this is perhaps not a surprise. the b s remixes are brighter, sunnier, though that s not to say they re not bold. cooper saver and turbotito s redo of words has a certain funky swing to it that, paired with spacey synths and balearic bells and whistles, makes it ideal daytime disco fodder. the lemonade boys close the ep with their vibey take on faith. pads for days, a plump bass, and a focus on the original s sax make you wonder if the song itself somehow got stoned from a couple extra giant bong rips. a fitting way to end both the 12inch and the summer.

given that cocktail d amore s first entry into the re-edit arena, cockring d amore, landed almost a year ago, this follow-up is long overdue. whereas that ep featured a trio of reworks from the extended family, both tracks on this solid 7- (snigger) come from berlin-based dj/producer trent. he begins with the cheery european disco of -the acrobat-, where prominent horn lines rise and fall over slick funk guitars and shimmering strings. flip for the cosmic disco-meets-cosmic rock masculinity of -the fool-, a killer fusion of elastic slap bass, eyes closed guitar solos and occasional blasts of glam rock vocals. whip off your t-shirt and get to it (dancing, that is).

big mean sound machine is a twelve-piece afrobeat band native to ithaca, new york. they tour 150 days a year and have a large and dedicated following up and down the east coast. still, it is a crime that big mean sound machine is not well known elsewhere. the band’s tremendous sound combines a big band aesthetic while channeling a global sense of musicality. their shows leave fans drenched in sweat from dancing as audiences absorb the west african, caribbean, jazz and funk traditions that big mean sound machine carries forward.

2015 was probably the busiest of my career, during the course of the year i lived many hours of flights and delays at airports, stayed at hotels with wonderful views immersed in nature and others, on the contrary, very urban. i must admit that many of these scenarios were the kick start of the creative process of oscillators ep. this is an ep conceived strictly for the dancefloor, and its creation was a perfect combination between air and land, as all the tracks began on a plane and were developed on land. a very important part of the creative process when youre working on a track is the mood youre in, and there is always an extra excitement before, during and after each show, the space where you work. i take advantage of that moments and translate those feelings into music. - flug

the contemporaly house tracks which combine his established heavy groove, smoothness & beautiful essence! -secret floor 002- misterious, raw feeling & the roop of vocal sample are intertwined together to be miraculous sounds-saturday night- melodious and uplifting house track-o-nature- unique sound quality made by mpc & the trumpet sample greatly melt together -sky lounge- slow down...dope track with a spice of japanese sample blackoly profile:dj, beatmaker, and sound producer in tokyo, japan. born in 1981, his parents taught him to play in a forest and make what he wants to play by himself. started his dj carrer when he was 19.the first track he played was -bucktown- by smif-n-wessun. in the ensuing year he started making tracks under the name of dj shibaki. kept releasing his own tracks by casset tapes and cd-r and released -document-(12-) in 2006. after that he released mix cd -abstract- and -gravity-, and he has done around 100 of play in a year with his style of going back and forth freely among various sounds evolving abstract, breakbeats and hiphop.in 2009 he played together with dday one, dorian concept without knowing who they are. when he played together with dj kensei, he got a meaningfull comment -do you always do such a mix?- in 2010 he became immersed in creating tracks with mpc2000xl which was not not used for a long time, and started doing dj & live only with his own tracks by using cd-r & kaoss pad. thereafter he started making house tracks under the name of blackoly influenced by house djs & dancers whom he has played with since 2000s. the various music in his background & the dancer s excitement on the floor like -house- atmosphere greatly melted together and it led to build his unique sounds. in 2013 he released -dirty channel-(12-), in 2014 -dr.circus-(cd), and his work continues to this time.

firstly, a huge thanks to everyone for supporting us so far - 2016 has seen the dext label continuing to go from strength to strength, with our callahan and mella dee ep s backed with remixes from hodge and endian which have been been super well received. now for the third ep of the year from our resident comedian bodyjack. bodyjack has been an integral part of dext since he remixed dubspeeka on our 2nd release and headlined our label takeover of privilege in ibiza last summer. we are very excited about his return to the label with this 3-tracker (and our first full solo artist ep!), and we think you re going to dig this... the title track cobra effect is one of those tracks you aren t going forget in a hurry. intense and brooding, we are hard-pushed to categorise this, but layers of sinister bass coupled with dark, driving snares and eerie synth work culminate masterfully, making this the perfect dext track. hydra effect lifts the vibe with a straight up peak-time house jam with a sting in the tail. a raw-but-infectious bassline winds along under bodyjack s signature killer drum programming, before blasting off with something you aren t going to expect. rounding the ep off is slowine effect: a proper dancehall workout (reminiscent of bodyjack s earlier work) and a real cross-genre party starter. the most upbeat of the 3 tracks, this again takes all the elements of what we love about the music from the past and cleverly works them into something special for the rave. and that s not all for bodyjack on dext this year - he will be back with a one-off ltd record called -hot shot-, backed with a very special remixer...but more on that soon!

philpot and pauls musique chief tobi ettle starts this year a new series of releases from young and well talented producers around the periphery of the label and record store. the range of musical direction will be very open minded but in general there will be dub techno, deep and minimal techno as well as electronic beats with some italo disco and experimental approach. first is done by steppin wolf originally from basel and now staying in frankfurt/main. before he was living in stuttgart and he was frequenting the pauls musique record store always bringing updates of his latest production. here hes now dropping a deep piece of techno with several acid splash and some kind of a boards of canada-feeling. watch out also for his current release on kanns division mana-all-nite. thanks for purchasing a real copy!

lovers rock recordings celebrates its tenth release with another lush compilation featuring tracks by three core members of the lr family and newcomer gunnar haslam. opener “vacation” by ital sees the label boss crafting a supple dj weapon out of a lysergic sonic ecosystem. the rapidly-maturing dj wey returns to the fold under his dj python alias with “amazonia,” an ambient bomb that allows a deceptively simple hook to lilt across a thumping reggaeton rhythm. gunnar haslam makes his lr debut with “vector no campo,” blending modular acid and perfectly crunched electro drums. finally sleeper cell close out with the shimmering, haunting “v.” the first lr release of 2016, lr no.10 exemplifies the label’s ethos and sound while pointing to the future, with eps by ital & halal, yoshinori hayashi and others slated for later in the year.
