master-class techno - about cassegrain - what should we say? they did it again. in fact alex and hüseyin had a great brilliant year in 2012 and 2013 starts stronger with this double 12?. tiamat is not just a collection of techno tracks, its one of the best techno tracks we have heard so far and everybody with some techno nerves should recognize very fast what treasure this is.

morris audio has always been introducing new artists and we keep doing this. it is up to brame tiarnan mc morrow to his parents this time and yes, his debut release soul city ep is a hot piece of house music. *cant say much more* is brame in full effect with some catchy deep house with the splendid vocals of yemi, *soul city* is a stripped down club tool and *set you free* is deeeeeep and magic.

one more heavy hitter on credo, and this time we could even say two tracks that form an ep as strond as the so far most sold credo-release from 2007 - bullet in your heart. the name tells already some connection to australia and indeed the basic idea came up during alex tour down under in fall 2012 where he played three cities within three days and a total of 9h playtime for which he travelled 64h in total. sydney acid is the main track of the ep, no doubt and hard to describe. it is a pure, driven technotrack with a fierce, no blubby, but very powerful acid bassline aiming at riots on the dancefloor. melbourne dub tells exactly what the track is all about and by the way featuring the sound of the local traffic lights that made alex thinking about creating some tracks related to it.

falling up in its original theo parrish version and the carl craig version on the same disc. nothing more to say. except that the carl craig version finally gets its proper title (also newly remastered versions of both classics, by stefan betke). it was never a remix as all the parts are original, created by carl craig. as scott grooves said when he first heard norm talley playing it, that aint a remix, thats a full-blown carl craig track

last year kyodai dropped breaking, which to date is the biggest selling release on local talk. now the brothers are back with in our opinion a future house anthem. the scene is a classic piano house cut that’s impossible to resist and together with one the coolest vocal samples we’ve ever heard we think this has the potential to go really big. when the breakdown drops we’re pretty sure everybody in the club will chant. but as if this was not enough we also got another big tune on the b-side. moving is the continuation of “breaking” and goes along the same lines with its crossover jazz styled house. once again kyodai delivers a supa solid house production with large jazz breakdowns and old school vocals that’s right up their with ”breaking”. this is also why we called it…breaking pt.2. kyodai is currently working on their debut album for local talk which is due later this year. they’re also travelling around the world with their amazing live dj set that we highly recommend. trust us when we say that these two brothers really now how to turn up the heat in a club…serious biz!

easily recognizable by his impassioned johnny cash-meets-charlie feathers vocals, the french-born don cavalli began to get any notice in the greater music and blog community when he released his full-length *cryland* (2007), which featured his amalgamation of swamp blues, lo-fi pop, country gospel, and early rock & roll. in 2013, don cavalli will release his new studio album *temperamental*, staying on blues track while dismantling the traditional codes of the field. indeed, thanks to an old fashioned sound take and a contemporary production, don cavalli makes his new album sound old but incredibly modern. and if *temperamental* goes through many kinds of sounds, in the end it always goes straight to the point: a unique cajun blues from the bayou serving a soul and sophisticated voice. a must-have!

the founders of lets play house records—new yorkers jacques renault and nik mercer—have started a new imprint in an effort to continue pushing the envelope and expanding their stylistic reach. g.m. is a vinyl-only label that will exist for eight installments, each one signifying a different phase of the moon. the releases will vary in tone and aesthetic, but, suffice it to say, each will be harder and heavier than what lph proper puts forth. the series commences with four bombastic, techno-leaning barn-burners by a man who goes simply by almost. g.m. guarantees that they will tear up any club floor.

we are proud to say that the sampler for the magnificant the dark defender album is one of the most energetic outputs on the citrus label thusfar. these two tracks are already in high demand and will float around for a while after its releasedate. btk delivers some excellent remix work on the b side. on the a side you find heat one of the most slamming tracks on the album.

knox is the band brainchild of brother-sister duo nic and eliza coolidge. hailing from boston and new york, the siblings released their second ep, here, on december 3rd, and it is a big step forward for the band. formed less than two years ago, in march 2011, knox finds themselves working with the likes of john tejada and kuxxan suum on this release, and the outcome is stunning. here is five-song set full of ice and echoes. it runs as close to the third rail of impersonation, but flies away so quickly that knox sounds contextual and perfectly fresh. the influences from james blake is clear: the swooping, bomber bass and half-timey compressed dub beats, here could also easily be an inventive b-side to the latest how to dress well album. but, with the limited scale, interspersed remixes and foundling status in the scene, i would say it is likely a more impressive feat. the ep as a whole is desolate. expansive spaces filled with cold little beats and vocal washes, exploring in the course of five songs an icescape aesthetic with a sense of place usually reserved for full-length albums. the remixes blend so seamlessly that i didnt even realize they were during my first, casual listen.

toby tobias joins the d.o.g crew for release no. 29 and fits like the proverbial glove with an incredible ep which truly lives up to its name.its probably fair to say that toby is one of the unsung heroes of the uk scene having played a pivotal part in developing the underground disco scene of the late noughties. his late night audio parties alongside releases on rekids, lets play house, nang and quintessentials speak volumes as to the mans skills and fastidious nature and here he delivers what wed be so bold as to say his best work yet with the pathfinder ep.

willie burns and aroy dee on remix duty ... golden combo! sequencias is slowly building their profile with their outsider house,acid and chicago rooted tracks. hailing from new york, just as likeminded labels wt records and l.i.e.s., sequencias is delivering the goods! another place, another time is an epic track and willie burns stepped over his shadow. trippy and full of tension, slow building without taking the paved path. killer track! we could say the same on the aroy dee remix, however he is going more in the chicago direction and with adding dramatic strings. truly epic!
