terrence dixon is the man behind sporadic production alias population one, serving up dark and heavy, intense and ravey records for classic labels like utensil only occasionally. as such, delsins re-issue arm (following on from dan curtin, mk and luke slater titles) has sought to get some of the old tracks out there once again on this double a side 10inch outing with midnight hours (first on detroit: beyond the third wave lp from 1996) and two sides to every story (from an ep of the same name on metroplex, also in 1996).

wow! what a year the wolf music crew are having. every release gets better and better. each time serving up a unique new offering from a variety of artists all with one thing in common: extremely high standard of production. all too often labels release good but not great music but wolf music is a testament to what searching high and low for the freshest artists with the best skills can really achieve. wolf ep 009 is no different. one often talks about real class produces and labels and buzz names and the next big thing … but only do a handful of labels ever live up to the manufactured hype they seem to receive. wolf music not only lives up to it but indeed outshines it. this ep is a must have for any dj/music connoisseur who truly knows their trade.

next up on the label is this brilliant two-tracker from instra:mentals jon convex. serving as a taster of his forthcoming debut solo album its a hugely impressive 12 inch with both sides demanding your attention. theres a nice old skool eerie, electro feel throughout and the tracks manage that nifty trick of sounding like something from the past and the future at the same time.

the second serving from schmorgasbord brings together two relatively disparate and unrelated artists, but who both share a uniquely twisted approach to making music. s-max has been doing his thing for some time, running legendary home all things bizarre in house and techno, boogizm, and releasing a special kind of groove on labels such as telegraph, 7th city and karloff. his original track, >ms. rosen dub<, swaggers and sways with the spirit of classic yorkshire bleeps and bass. the groove is house, but the spirit of adventure is most definitely techno. his remix of spatials >corti< takes a very different approach, taking a rolling, jungle-like approach to dubstep and nailing it to the groove with stabbing bass notes. spatial leapt onto the bass music radar late 2008 with his shadowy infrasonics imprint, and quickly snapped heads with his crisp, refined approach to 2-step rhythms. since then he’s done things on his own terms, only releasing for himself and mutating his sound over a series of 10 inches. >corti< perfectly demonstrates spatials unconventional tendencies, lurching and buckling around a perfectly honed splatter of beats, off-centre synths and delirious vocal snippets. meanwhile on his remix of s-max, spatial flips the script once again with a stomping, swung techno angle that hammers the original into an uptempo, fist-pumping banger.

morning caffeine is the debut release by poker flats martin landsky on mobilee that we have all been waiting for! as a poker flat artist with huge success to his name for various remixes, he boasts a discography that reads like a guide through electronic musics hottest sounds. always refusing to be pigeonhold, landsky continuously embraces different paths and once again hes brought something new to the table. title track morning caffeine (main mix) kick starts the ep with both a dark and uplifting mood as a slightly twisted loop continues to build throughout the track, never really culminating but carrying on inescapably, whilst in contrast the organ dub version offers a much lighter and bouncier atmosphere. aint nobodys is the pleasant surprise of the ep, once again demonstrating landkys musical diversity and serving up really special warm dreamy vibes

anthony mansfield & nick chacona drop a double serving of their patented trashy drunk funk. the heat is, as the vocal states, the sound of disco from berlin to san francisco. prepare yourself for smashingly groovy house music thats built to rock a party. burning sensations has freestyle boogie electro break house roots but is firmly planted in the here and now. its a surefire hit with perverts, escapists, sleazelords, and backroom wizards. together, these two tracks are positively on fire additions to the boys echelon.

when surfing on places and spaces like myspace you sometimes bump into something special, a rare diamond. so we of sound architecture did when we got tipped to check out the myspace of this dutch guy named dollkraut. the following week the only music played in our office was his... when we found out to by surprise that dollkrauts music was not signed yet to any label, we did hesitate or think twice and invited dollkraut to one of our events and asked him to do an ep on our label. inspired by artists such as dave brubeck, glenn miller, pepe bradock, recloose, jazzanova and krause duo, its sounds like dollkraut mixed them all in a big shaker, adding some of his secret ingredients. serving a dish to die for.. full colour sleeve with handstamped releaseinfo on whitelabelcopy.
