when no one is watching ramona, is usually listening to future times records and beautiful swimmers all days. maxmillion dunbar is not only half of those aquanauts, but also running the label and releasing music as max(million) d(unbar). what a guy! hanging out in the vague territory between slow-motion house with a hip hop feeling or dubby and dubious fun music, his melodious approach is extremely hard to categorize but all the more enjoyable. >polo< already saw the light of day on >max trax for world peace<, but ramonas favorite dj ata and live at robert johnson manager oliver hafenbauer were so much in love with the bleepy bonbon that they offered it a place by their fireside. now cautiously modified, fine-tuned and extended for its label home, its a rainforest serenade for beatnik boys and girls, with all the ingredients you want from tha d. the only kid able to thrown down the gauntlet in front of maxi is frankfurts melody man phillip lauer (arto mwambe, brontosaurus, etcetera etcetera). turning >polo< into one of his trademark sluggish bass line barrage tracks with falsetto synths and sharp snares. get your vogue brogue out.

sublevels eleventh release features their left-coast warehouse sound. this single contains two mixes. side a:lils keys – subwarp rmx this mix puts you in a deep and twisted headlock with a groovy feeling of main-room acid-house. an energetic remix for those who love to dance and travel through space. this remix was featured at such events as demf 2011, 20 years of planet e (san diego), and tabloid (tokyo).side b:lils keys – e-motion analogue dub – doc martin mix the e-motion dub mix is a long and hypnotic bass heavy dub. doc martin really gives this one an analogue feel. this mix was performed live at panorama bar (berlin), womb (tokyo), and fabric (london).

having already appeared on r&s with a remix of model 500 and a track on the iotdxi compilation named >ralph< which showcased his singing voice for the first time, this two track single seems like the natural stepping stone from bullions previous work. replacing what would previously have been samples with his own vocals and instruments played by both himself and some friends, >say arr ee< and >what does she know< continue to show bullion as a music lover of many styles who can identify and combine those elements with an air of sympathetic range and still have a sense of clarity and cohesion.

jackoff beats in a new various artist series from jackoff records. jobeats001 features ver¬sions of jackoff releases that have never been on vinyl before but have been tearing up dance-floors around the globe in digital formats. due to the partners at jackoff head office having such a love of vinyl, it was only a matter of time before this tracks came out on wax. the first release brings iron curtis, oliver deutschmann and october behind the mixing desk plus a bonus track from rising star borai that was all recorded in the smoked out city of bristol behind the red door - strictly for those that know!

second release on the wonderful supafrico records digs up and dusts off four more mega-rare nuggets of superb afro funk. first up is the excellent afro disco groove of kabbalas ashewo ara, a lost gem originally released back in 82 on tiny uk independent red flame and now featuring highly on many collectors wants lists. next is buaris im ready, a chunk of pure dancefloor dynamite with a driving disco groove and great funky synths, taken from the ghanian singer and percussionists awesome 1979 disco soccer lp. on the flip we get the mega-rare and totally essential body & soul, a magnificent 10 minute mid-tempo afro workout recorded in 1980 by nigerian funkster william onyeabor. last up is a great extended edit of the ashantis brilliant funky bubbler everybodys groove with its floor-filling groove and wicked vocals. these lovingly remastered rarities sound better than ever making this ep a must for anyone with a taste for those incredible funky afro grooves.

rising new label deadplate records drop their second release: the first vinyl offering by artifact, with a remix by graphics. artifact is the main moniker of bristols ryan bonfield, an exciting new producer that merges the hard hitting sounds of dubstep with the swung rhythms of 2-step. with support coming from the likes of mary anne hobbs and mosca, those familiar with bristols offerings to the uk dance scene will already be familiar with artifacts music. if youve ever heard one of his dubs on a dance floor, you will have known – its hard not to take notice when they drop. the original tracks here are perfectly complimented by a remix of archaic line by oxford/london dj and producer graphics, bringing how own personal techno / dubstep influenced twist to the original.

fresh from a full tour of the uk, django django are pleased to announce the release of new single ‘default’ through because music. the band have been busy doing great things in the east london bedroom slept in by their drummer, producer and de facto leader david maclean. amongst those great things is stand-out album track ‘default’ and of course their self-titled debut lp which will grace us with its presence on january 30th. vincent neff (singer and guitarist), jimmy dixon (bassist), and synth operator tommy grace make up the quartet, who met at art school in edinburgh. django django’s story looks set to be a long and compelling one going by early response to their debut record. by banging together their thirst for adventure and their exacting high standards, they’ve produced an album that seems to have everything, but on which everything never seems too much.

one year ago digitaline has released raouls very first release. it has been one of their most successful eps so far and both tracks instantly found their audience and brought raoul onto the main floors of the entire world, where it still stands confortably one year later. so what better than to celebrate one year of the label and welcome digitaline back home? same format: two tracks of deep techno, fat grooves and aerial melodies made for the dance floor. almost made on the dance floor. true! digitaline’s sound is always very inspired by their live performances and with those two tracks the boys wonderfully managed to transpose the best of their live skills, energy and dynamic. before finally being released here, both tracks have been played live on many floors throughout 2011, adjusted slowly set after set to touch every soul listening. a-side neon is a massive groove infecting the entire track through long breaks, while synth strings generate waves of tension in the piece. b-side comet is build around a big round bassline and concret noises that give the track its organic motion. the melodies of the track seem to come out of a fairy tale, dreamy arpeggios that defy the laws of gravity.

next up on nang, we have the long awaited full-length from nu-disco hero and synth aficionado, andy meecham. the release sees meecham step away from his revered emperor machine monkier to create something conceptual and truly visceral, yet still retaining those signature grooves and rich tones we all know and love. the aptly titled monophonic volume 1 is a synth purists dream. each track has been crafted on a single classic synthesizer (and named after it!), giving each piece its own identity and sense of time and place, referencing landmark moments in the history of music technology from the east and west

the long awaited sequel to the groundbreaking >live for never< lp from new zealand electronic wonderkid consequence is completed and scheduled for a dec 19th release on exit records. the release of >live for never< reminded the electronic world of the intricacies and emotional heights of drum & bass, and carried the genre into new realms of sonic possibility. >test dream< is not for those who expect the next logical evolution of >live for never<. it is also not for the unadventurous, nor for those who seek easily digestible music. creatively free, consequence revels in pure electronic experimentation, and the result is an album that follows no rules, and explores fractal dimensions that defy conventional genres.

the next release coming out of the roska camp is this smart vinyl-only followup to the roska allstars release. this second instalment brings more of the same versatile movements from some fantastic producers currently leading the way for upfront danceable material. main man roska signs up terror danjah to pull of a smart remix of his track >without it<. its somewhat of a guilty pleasure hearing both artists signature idents in one song, terror with his evil gremlin laugh and roska with his ubiquitous shout out! however its all about the arrangement here as terror reforms those original trumpet sounds and adds some heavy distorted bass. j:kenzo serves up >let it move< which is all out pure electro style with punchy drums and dirty synths, again lending to the surprising nature of this labels output. tickles completes the vinyl only package with >da growler<. drums are tougher than iron and bass harder than rock as tickles blends funky, dubstep and house into his own dance-floor destructive mould. all three records show a different side to the current uk bass and funky scene, yet they somehow could only belong on kicks & snares. a fine package for a burgeoning label.

nice collabos with argenis brito and pier bucci on the a-side and getting spiritual with damien vandesande (former dop member) on b2. pepe got those teasing latino vocals ... otra could deliver the soundtrack for a shaman session ... made for parties that last a lil longer. hope: classic floating electro. finally, sidharta: pentatonic electronic, ethio-bass-style. enjoy!

following romantic thrills part 1, the first ep connected to nicone & sascha braemers recent lp of the same name, vinyl lovers are now being treated to romantic thrills part 2, which dazzles with three distinct remixes by stil for talent heavyweights oliver koletzki, florian meindl and dan caster. again, all tracks are geared towards the dance floor as they appropriate those special moments of the originals, while employing them to a diverse range of new contextual frames.

this ep written some year and one half ago at beautiful granville studio features 3 dance selections, which includes the title track, the drapes in the livingroom. also presented in dance form is the very long awaited shaquanda, which is often played in my live sets. here, we have the original and first recording of the track. last, i am presenting bedroom music, which is a track designed to be played in those private moments, as well as within nightclub confines. i simply hope that youll find the bump in this one

sk 011, 444, centralbron, midsummer night, babar, russian folksong, carbon oxide, i love water, all those brilliant tiga productions... we really don t know what else to say - just try to imagine the history and future of this dance music thing we re all involved in without jesper dahlback... nah, rather not, right? being part of jespers discography is the greatest thing that has happened to studio barnhus up until now and these two tracks, fransson and dx2 rmx, are up there with all those previously mentioned masterpieces. fransson is a freaky, windowlicker-esque jam while dx2 rmx is a dance floor burner which perfectly balances melancholia with joy.

this is the first part (of four) of the much anticipated reissue series of drexciya s early catalogue, marking 20 years since the release of their first ep deep sea dweller , and 10 years since their final album grava 4 . one of the most influential techno acts ever, and part of the heritage of detroits underground resistance, drexciya explored techno like no-one else before: raw and uncompromising music that reflected the harsh environment of the city where drexciya was conceived, with a mythical approach that only added to their cult appeal. drexciya arguably stands for the darker side of techno and electro, made not only for the club scene, but a further development of the music as an expression and extension of the mind. journey of the deep sea dweller is a near-complete collection of their early works, released in four parts, with all audio remastered from the original master tapes. since the original releases have such a strong character and stand on their own, these reissue can never recreate the magic of those originals. instead, clone have stirred up the catalogue, taking tracks out of their original context, giving the committed fan a fresh experience and the new listener a document that is the best possible introduction to the aquatic world of drexciya.

norm talley tackles techno. yes, you heard that right… in spite of 3 tracks on the original transmissions that fell a little closer to what the heads would expect from a very reliable source, it was that first one that everyone begged for more of. we must agree that those 3 minutes were just a little of a tease, so here is the full 9-minute extended cut of “man on the moon” that all of you asked for, and what a trip it is! certainly funky broken-beat techno is a new look for norm, but it’s pretty obvious in all 9 of the minutes here that this is a man from detroit making the music he knows best. there’s a groove and a touch here that speaks of soul and experience… although you may find this one in the crates of some of the new school techno elite, it’s safe to say they couldn’t have made it the way norm talley did. even if you remember part one you may be surprised where he takes it, but we’re even more pleased to say that “earth 2 moon” beats it at its own game. this one made our necks snap and heads turn the very first time.

local talk is proud to present the first release on their sub-label 1nce again. this is where we bring back classic and forgotten house gems from back in the day with new mixes and reworks. for our first release we have gone back to 97 and a producer known and respected worldwide in the house music community with more than 200 production credits under his belt. joshua michaels aka joshua iz perhaps best known for his collabs with dwayne washington as iz & diz but has of course used many other pseudonyms over the years for releases on labels like prescription, balance, classic, junior boys own, om and guidance. the return was first released on heard, sub-label to tom middletons evolution / universal language productions ltd. using his moniker circulation. the track can easily be described as a mammoth house track, clocking in just over 12 minutes. its one of those pieces of music that’s stood the test of time and why iz has been a major force in electronic music for so many years. on the flip much hyped duo prommer & barck stripped it down from its original costume leaving not much left of the source material resulting in something that we best could describe as old school warehouse meets uk bass. its pretty raw and definitely a basement sureshot!

the next record from the abstract acid catalogue will be the first in a series of various artist works. downtown dirt 1 features 4 cuts of chicago house and acid workouts by jackee, interface88, mmmc (man made mechanical culture), and steve summers. pure and simple raw grooves made for those who still like to jack.

it had been since the dj qu remix of walt j that we did something on our subdivision petite. you know, this is where we like to re-release those forgotten pearls, with a new remix on the flip. this time we chose for >on and on< by italian-living-in-scandinavia raiders of the lost arp. in 2003 >on and on< appeared as the d2 track on his album >4<. but we thought this track is so great, it deserved a full a-side. on remix duties this time someone we have been wanting to work with since a long time, patrice scott. we have been following his sistrum label since the very first release, and he just never disappoints. neither does he this time.

clone classic cuts serves another cult italo disco classic! gorgeous female vocals slapped on that lovely 80 s synthesizer/drum programming. this is one of those releases that easily makes it into the top 50 of all time greatest italo disco songs. produced by roberto ferrante (also known for his pinneaples project) and originally released on the obscure airport label in 1984. we managed to restore and re-master the original versions and the lovely paris mix. on top of the original versions we serve you a new re-rub by italian italo specialist bottin (eskimo, artifacts etc). bottin did a great job with a new crazy soundhack mix that cranks up the energy level and makes it more jackin. pretty amazing when you realize that these tracks are making people dance for 28 years now. more then enough reason for a proper re-release on high quality vinyl. enjoy!

the new phoenix g (pg039) is an excellent deep and hypnotizing release. relying heavily on one shot chords and thumping vintage drum machines this is one for the bag. the a1 concequences is a real deep one with nice open hats and good places chords. a real open mix for the late / early hours. the b1 is a real vintage percussive slammer with nice one shots that together create a real oldschool vibe. the latin vocal in this track gives it a somewhat different vibe,really good for the dancefloor.the b2 is a dark peak time anthem. this will go off at any quality house evening. what a strange but wonderful vibe those rhodes in the middle are giving.true analog deephouse by mr.g

phuture shock musik present their 5th release, this time procuring the reliable talent of one of the most slept on producers in the world of bass music - that is simon/off. those in the know will be aware that the austrian native has been simmering in the underground for quite some time now, having laid the groundwork through early releases on haunted audio, a noteworthy ep for immerse records, and further contributions to several other smaller labels. this latest plate by the name of >planetary communication< ep finds simon/off leaning more towards his techno and broken beat side, which has of late began to flourish in his recent productions, and consists of three well crafted afro-tech riddims oozing weighty low-end frequencies, funky drum work and finely detailed percussion. widespread support on sub fm, and increasing support from several other major players in the underground bass scene.

hot release alert by our boy paul du lac who is a long time close friend of the frustrated family, colleague at the clone office and an old dj buddy of frustrated funk label boss klen (when they played the nighttown basement in the early 90s). so it s a bit of a special thing for us having him aboard. this ep shows pauls signature minimalistic approach on chicago style house. typical jacking 707s and 808s combined with minimal synth pulses. qom and access are pure jackin bliss for the floor while moodswings goes deeper with layers of warm pads and spaced out stings. the title track comes with a stripped beats version from tevo howard, for those who like to mix things up.. highly recommended!!

no doubt, daniel herrmann alias flug 8 does polarize. the principle he follows through all releases during the past years is an atmospheric melancholy that has got to fascinate. tuning would not exist without detuning, and a mood is a mood. this may be understandable easily. however, those who get into his music can expect much more from it.

spider silk on the a side is a funky stepper of extreme darkness. its epic feel shall make it a hit on all techno, idm and dubstep dancefloors. 8 blip is a short straight tech stumbler with a kick drum as deep it will only be audible on proper soundsys- tems – which is where we want to hear those tracks anyway. litiv is a piece of rare beauty – simply amazing. lakker are a fascinating duo from dublin who have released on several labels and recently got dj support from none other than aphex twin.

having finished recording the new zombie zombie album (out: april 2012), etienne jaumet leaves temporarily the duo to record a solo piece, as a need to find oneself again … if the word satori means spiritual awakening, the title track that offers etienne seems to describe the way to this awakening … a winding and sometimes dark path, taking inspiration from both dark disco and synth wave (etienne is particularly keen of those genres, you can listen to his new podcast for versatile records as an evidence) and also to some kind of trance… on b side, jon convex, newcomer on the dubstep / uk garage field and signed on martyns label, delivers a clearly club oriented version, by injecting syncopated beat and the funky groove unique to uk garage.
