No doubt, Daniel Herrmann alias Flug 8 does polarize. The principle he follows through all releases during the past years is an atmospheric melancholy that has got to fascinate. Tuning would not exist without detuning, and a mood is a mood. This may be understandable easily. However, those who get into his music can expect much more from it.

Flug 8′s intention definitely is not a high fidelity functionality to beat these “state of the art” electronic productions, it is rather about his songs that shall be heard. In any case, some of his tracks hit quite perfectly the floor. Others are willfully off-path to chain the new EP called “Liebeslied” (EN: Lovesong).

“Mr. Ito” (A1) is like a masculine fairy tale, without squiggles but full of passion. One tune plus one noise, that’s it above the beat. “Liebeslied” (EN: Lovesong, A2) has not got for nothing the title of the record. This song has a chasteness combining a certain pathos, and sometimes it reminds a bit of 80′s Electronic music by Jean Michel Jarre or Vangelis.

“Zeckenwalzer” (EN: Tickwaltz, B1) is a syncopated stumbling-rumbling remix by Acid Pauli, who by the way also co-produced the side A tracks. “Signalempfaenger” (EN: Radio Receiver, B2) lo-fi-ly leads into the finalis of the record, the track that got probably one of the most controversial names: “Techno” (B3). Let us leave it as a statement.
