uk funk connoisseur duke slammer takes the driving seat on the 303-fueled ‘bangkok skytrain’, with remixes from moscow based simple symmetry and returning artist tony g. inspired by tropical heat, bangkok skytrain utilises 303s, analogue drum machines and mixes in field recordings taken from an excursion to thailand. the result is a heady concoction of warm basslines and humid atmospheres, with a groove reminiscent of early 90’s melodic techno and a cheeky drum track that wouldn’t be out of place on a larry heard record. simple symmetry, the lipski brothers from moscow, slowly rebuild layers of the track like a locomotive building up momentum, and in typical style simple symmetry style finding the perfect vocal sample and pan pipes that help propels you into the foreign lands. before you know it the track is pumping at full chug! tony g’s take goes a bit further afield than the original. a dub rhythm sets the picture in outer-space. hihats stutters like cosmic dust rickashading off the nosecone of the space ship while longing strings take us deep into a distant nebular before the 303 bring the thousands of new galaxies into view. definitely music to listen to in the dark! look out for the secret dancefloor weapon ‘just drums’, an industrial drum machine workout for the freaks!

vancouvers indie-electronic duo humans announce their highly anticipated full-length album noontide set for release on february 24th, 2015 via hybridity music. comprised of producers robbie slade and peter ricq, the duos sound has been called infectious, smartly crafted, and a force live. produced by nik kozub (shout out out out out), noontide is a showcase of their innovative mix of heavy electronics with modern pop sensibilities. the album is carefully constructed, building upon the bands restless aesthetic experimentation.

as earlier compilations of danza meccanica have taught us, italy gave birth to a disproportionate number of synth-pop, new wave and electronic acts in the 80s. mannequin goes deeper into the italian new wave archelogical research with a killer 10 tracks selection of carmody. picking their name from a science fiction novel titled dimension of miracles by robert sheckley, carmody were coming from torino, as their pairs monuments and chromagain. started as a duo (alberto ramella and andrea lesmo) and later a trio with max casacci joining in as a guitar player, carmody recorded from 1981 to 1985 and issued three incredibly rare demo tapes. sleep on mirrors compiles the best tracks from those tapes, bringing you one of the most peculiar 80s minimal synth music coming out of italy
