solar phenomena continues a high quality and high rate of releases after eps from the likes of stl and fluxion with a new one from mystica tribe - the musical alias of tokyo-based producer, taka noda. here he draws on everything from dub, soul, bass music, rhythm and blues and will always freak you out with his unusual sounds.
this excellently absorbing ep starts with “love is all right”, a fusion of asian percussion and reggae drums that is high tempo and funky. the bright steelpan sounds offset the razor sharp percussion and make for a sunny dub that will get any crowd going. the same fusion vibes continues but in more blissed out and slow motion fashion on “lawn track”, the beautiful cosmic psyche-out that is “ash” and supple space journey that is “voyage” with its intoxicating melodies and loose, tumbling percussion. this is unusual but essential music from an exclusive talent.

robert used musicians from ripple to record four self penned songs as a vanity project which remained unissued, two of which have since been released as a soul junction 45 the modern soul dancers time of the day/take me high (sj537). while a third track, the excellent ballad love song about you made it s initial debut as part of the popular -we got a sweet thing going on - (volume 3) cd compilation series to great acclaim, following requests for it to put on a 45 we have duly obliged placing it back to back with robert s remaining previously unissued track the more dance orientated -i love you so- complete with girl backing singers. thus in doing so, we have now completed the trilogy of robert montgomery s recording output.

here s one for all the hardcore disco and soul lovers out there, one of the finest and rarest manifestations of the legendary writing, arranging and production team of randy muller and jeff lane (skyy, bt express, brass construction, aquarian dream, spiders webb and many more!). first appearing as a columbia records disco series promo 12- in 1976 this is a wondrous example of that mid to late 70 s uptempo soul sound morphing into disco, and boy are we glad it did! drenched in pure philly vibes i m ready to give up my life is a real beauty, clocking in at over 9 mins of pure dance-floor joy with soaring strings and a driving rhythm. pure class all the way and one for the aficionados for sure. beautiful soul music that will certainly deliver the goods in the club indeed. as per the original 1976 promo release this 12- features the same program on both sides. this underground disco classic has been legally reissued by above board distribution in conjunction with the legal rights holders - sony music entertainment. this high quality repress features original columbia white label disco 12- artwork and has been remastered from sony s original sources by optimum mastering, bristol uk.

love creation 004 keeps the bar high with 3 diverse creations edited with love. the a side keeps it chunky with a touch of acid on land of hunger and a slo-mo groover with a deft vocal touch with luther s jam . ‘spacetalk is given the whole of the b side for a more playable re-edit of this left of centre funk gem.

initially released on sonia e. pottinger s highly respected high note records in 1981, sonya spence s sings love lp was relatively overlooked at the time her album came out. sent on her final journey in 2007, the one-woman band leaves us with a legacy of exception. however, time and a small first pressing has made it an object of desire for collectors, deejays and lovers all around the world. and, though it was shamelessly bootlegged throughout history, it is the first that time that this bliss of an lp gets the official reissue treatment on wax, with the love and respect it deserves. beyond classic tracks let the flow on baby, where is the love and the reggae gem fantasy, this 10-tracker abounds with treasures, some of which cannot be found on the internet.
