john morales geht dahin, wo noch kein dj war. das universalgenie aus der bronx, das in diesem sommer resident dj bei defecteds glitterbox-event auf ibiza war und aktuell in londons angesagtem bussey building auflegt, veröffentlicht ein abendfüllendes programm. er präsentiert unveröffentlichte mixe mit klassikern von weltstarts wie donna summer, barry white, diana ross, level 42, cher, teddy pendergrass, eddie kendricks und vielen anderen. satte vier cds oder zwei separat erhältliche doppel-lps ist diese einmalige zusammenstellung lang. john morales legt seit mehr als drei jahrzehnten auf und hat in dieser zeit über 800 remixe produziert. der vierte teil seiner -m+m mixes- ist zweifelsohne sein bislang ehrgeizigstes projekt. 32 stücke hat er seiner komplexen und unverkennbaren behandlung unterzogen und sie so noch einmal neu erfunden. dafür bekam er, was kaum einem dj gelang: man gewährte ihm zugang zu den original-mehrspuraufnahmen aus den archiven. wenn boiler room ihn als einen -der besten produzenten und arrangeure von disco-musik- beschreibt, ist das eher noch untertrieben. keiner mixt wie john morales.

the true definition of a “rare-groove”, “windy city theme” is a triumphant, funky paean to the spiritual home of the blues, jazz and house music. often closely guarded by the rare record cognoscenti this scarce 45 on the chi sounds label was originally released in 1976 and became a solid staple of london’s underground rare-groove scene, finding favour with dj’s like norman jay and giles peterson with the track even appearing on their groundbreaking “journeys by dj” mix. b-side cut “show me the way” is not to be overlooked either, a smooth, stepping soul number with lush orchestration and yearning vocals featuring the amazing arrangements of the chi-sound orchestra, sounding like a beautiful cross between mfsb and marvin gaye. an utterly essential 45 for any serious soul or funk fan, legitimately repressed and remastered with love on dinked 45 for 2016.

jackie moores 1979 disco bomb this time baby is one of the biggest tracks of the genre. a total classic that found fame on the dancefloors via djs like david mancuso, larry levan and ron hardy it is the epitome of a roof-raiser. produced by philly legend bobby eli (mfsb, salsoul orchestra, stylistics, barbara mason) and mixed by underground disco legend john luongo this is an essential 12. originally performed by the o-jays jackies version ramps the energy right up to the max and cranks the heat up to 100. everything is here, killer driving drums and percussion, that bassline that drops, the cowbells, horns, strings and of course...... jackie! this is a straight repress of the 79 pressing on columbia and features the sweet b-side lets go somewhere and make love, another breezy philly number courtesy of mr. eli yet again. all round quality. this classic has been legally reissued by above board distribution in conjunction with the legal rights holders - sony music entertainment. this high quality repress features original columbia pink label disco 12 artwork and has been remastered from sonys original sources by optimum mastering, bristol uk.

edit & dub tokyo release special disco versions sourced from an acetate titled nyc1980. unsure on the story here but these versions of mfsb “mysteries of the world” & francine mcgee “delirium” never made it to vinyl! super limited on one sided vinyl. first come first serve!

there are few labels who will get the opportunity to work extensively with the most dynamic remixers, dj s and producers of this decade. bbe seems to keep coming up trumps. grammy award winner louie vega has been on top of the dj game for over 2 decades. he gained further notoriety as part of the collective known as ‘masters at work’ with kenny gonzalez form a formidable partnership reminiscent of the greatest producers of yesteryear. quincy did it with chaka khan, james ingram, al jarreau and the brothers johnson, while gamble and huff did it with archie bell and the drells, harold melvin and the bluenotes, teddy pendergrass and mfsb.
