the 3rd album from french togolese band vaudou game is a fantastic funk trip on double vinyl.

this is a rare gem of a record from fantastic soul band the soul kids stemming from the democratic republic of congo, including covers of james brown & the mighty flames hit singles -lickin stick- (1968), -papa s got a brand new bag- (1965), wilson pickett’s -hey jude- and a french vocal version of otis redding’s soul hit -respect -. this amazing young band, which released only four 7inch singles and one album, is a great example of the influence of soul music and french pop bridging to the new afro soul scene that the musicians of kinshasa were involved in during the time of post-independence. ngoma was one of the first record labels intent on providing local artists recordings from both sides of the congo river to the people of the drc and west africa. created in 1948 by a greek man by the name of nicolas jeronimidis, the ngoma label was active through 1968, pressed in france until 1971, with a tremendous catalogue, including this historical and essential soul masterpiece!

a fantastic afro-beat album from a fela anikulapo kuti disciple and kalakuta republic member. a sublime spiritual and political session recorded in 1979 at the emi studio in lagos (nigeria). arranged and self-produced, this second kingsley bucknor‘s album, hopelessly obscure and impossible to find ranks alongside the best afro-beat album in history!

a fantastic and rare soul-jazz album recorded in adelaide (australia) in 1976. originally pressed and released on crest records and fully licensed by the hot casa team to reissue it on a deluxe 180g vinyl. . sue barker is a jazz singer from the 70s – and one who isn t afraid of picking up a bit of soul. most of the album features covers from duke ellington to marvin gaye, curtis mayfield or even james brown!

the first musical scale on apiafo leans towards raw funk with a sound similar to the famous 70s bands, l orchestre poly rythmo de cotonou and el rego. funk, is the skeletal structure of this record, and provided the opportunity for peter to invite his uncle, roger damawuzan - the famous pioneer of the 70s soul scene – on two tracks. their collaboration on *pas contente* is a highlight on this 100% analog album. apiafo was entirely recorded, mixed and mastered with old tapes and vintage instruments.

vaudou game, the french afro-funk band, is back from togo with a brand new album called otodi (out oct 26th 2018).
otodi was the name of the recording studio in lomé, closed in 1987, and which peter solo, the band leader and his crew reopened during the spring 2018 to record these all analog 13 brilliant songs.
from this amazing album, here comes a 7 inch single dedicated to afro-funk dj’s and radio. pure afro-funk with togolese soul!

big tunes by mac gregor.., nan ye li kan is a sought after and well known bomb.. a welcome release that brings the two nicest tunes from the lp to 12 format for that loud dj play. . originally from martinique, clem marise voltine aka mac gregor moved to abidjan in 1979 searching for, what she called, her “negritude quest”. she sang about her love for her adoptive city until her death in april 2004 at chu of abidjan, trechville hospital.

mindblowing afro soul music from ivory coast served up by an obscure artist who only recorded four albums in between 1979 and the beginning of the 80’s. he created an original funky fusion with bété langage. a selection of four amazing tracks recorded in abidjan on two different records label called war records and as records. the music here is a mixture of funk with heavy basslines, traditional percussions, funky guitar riffs, nice horns section and lyrics in beté. the song «demonde» is inspired by harmonies of the famous «dance to the drummer beat» by herman kelly. those two rare records were found by afrobrazilero aka djamel hammadi and never appeared on the vinyl market. it’s almost impossible to have infos about this singer and composer neither the musicians involved in the recording sessions. most of the trace of the recording session were lost by the labels we licensed the tracks with. unique, pressed on a deluxe vinyl, remastered by the carvery, this very funky album is a must have for all the afro funk lovers!

the afro-funk side of the latin soul maestro! born in gao (mali), boncana maiga is one of the most talented and popular producer of west-african music since the 60s. he studied flute and latin arrangements in cuba during the 60s and founded the famous les maravillas du mali in 1968. he became orchestra leader for the national ivorian tv in abidjan in the mid-seventies, and toured all over the world with the famous africando band. during his recording sessions in nyc at the beginning of the 80’s with a lot of “latin musicians” from puerto rico, venezuela or colombia, boncana maïga also recorded few rare funky tracks with heavy breaks! with the artist, we decided to reissue four rare tracks from 1978 to 1982 dedicated to dancefloor, including a really rare soundtrack for the oil company of ivory coast called petroci. in 2018, hell be back on tour with les maravillas du mali, still have a weekly tv show on tv5 monde and with this reissue will continue to warm your afro-funk parties! fully licensed, 12inch vinyl (45 rpm) including interview. remastered by the carvery!

recorded in the beginning of the 80s and self-produced by itadi in 1983, this obscure album contained deep soul and controversial rare grooves backed by the 5 band members called the afro funk band de lome. itadi s music is unique, in his second album, he kept the same recipe: a mixture of soul, reggae, hi-life and funk, with heavy lyrics which sounds like slogans and caused him big trouble after its release. he was obliged to escape the country to usa.a real definition of a revolutionary musician! this deluxe lp contains also two unreleased tracks, interview, and photos and was fully licensed with his family.

including 2 remixes by osunlade under the collective name of yoruba soul! since their first acclaimed album apiafo, vaudou game turned down the heat over 160 stages across the world. peter solo has displayed his vaudou chants and charisma around the globe. on the road he and osunlade met and shared their musical visions. kidayu is the name of the 2nd opus and means “sharing”: it’s exactly what those versions of “on se pousse” are about. ! limited press.
