the first release on project squared in a year, *make your mess* is a three track ep by melbournes craig mcwhinney. craig has been making music for years and releasing since the late 2000s on melbourne labels such as pinksilver, melbourne deepcast and his own haul music, also on labels based further afield such as brendon moellers steadfast and speedy js electric deluxe. craigs music is techno, but it isnt preoccupied with the 4/4, employing broken, swung and rolling drum patterns. his tracks often include melodic and harmonic elements and effects reminiscent of dub techno but without conforming to the pastiche template of the sub-genre. the make your mess ep is composed of the core title track and two additional tracks that arose as interpretations and variations on the initial production: *provocation is an excuse* is more furious and loud, *disengage* is more restrained. all three are around 125 bpm and were produced in the space of a month between september and october 2012.

the second release from unknown is a vinyl only release ... busy working on an album the four tracks here are part of his #001-#010 series that heralded his existence on youtube. aside from remixes .. this is the only unknown material that will be available until a new ep and album in the spring and later part of the year .. these tracks were not due for release but he has received a large number of mails enquiring about a release date for them so here is the limited vinyl .

with this third release we have returned to the structure of our first release together to bring you too wicked examples of his original take on house with a final track to send you on your way bathed in psychedelic sunshine vibes. how leon manages to combine ruff edges with smooth vibes is a talent in itself.

the >just for fun< ep starts with the title track just4fun, which in fact breathes fun and doesnt take itself too seriously. the funky and highly infectious keys and the butt shaking groove will remind you of a track that moodymann never made, but wishes he had. next comes unlimited01 with a joyful piano melody that would fit right into a french disco with a funkier version of alain delon behind the decks. still, the rhodes chords, the slow sexy groove, the vocal hooks will get you moving in no time. thang then goes into a more detroit beatdown direction with its deep chords and smooth pads. it creates a mellow atmosphere with an almost relaxed summer feeling. this is what a funky pimp would listen to on a night car drive. the ep ends with spiritual almost tribal rhythms. inspiration would be a nice soundtrack to a 70s orgy orchestrated by a groovy guru, surrounded by a magical circle of mystical dancers. over the top? sure, but the track would certainly get this party going.

two new suprawax releases by eduardo de la calle. the four tracks on offer here bear testimony to de la calles search for the perfect loop. they are hypnotic grooves, almost entirely devoid of arrangement in a classical sense. but the tracks are not static. they suck you in by means of constant modulations, build free flowing structures of their own, hints of peaks emerging at the mercy of the low frequency oscillators cleverly set phase relationships. these tracks do not need the in-your-face kick drums and squashed dynamics of the brickwall generation. by leaving space, they work on a different level than solely sound pressure emanated. the simple, repetitive structure coupled with the unhasty development find their way into the dancer’s brain. moving your mind—your ass to follow suit. all records have been pressed in a run of 400 copies and come in inside-out natural cardboard sleeves. no represses are planned at present.
