mr bratley drops 2 slo-house workouts on his foto debut. this sound is big and brash with insistent stabs and filter sweeps over the top of some thumping pitch-down house beats. on the flip things get even heavier with get up, a dark, pulsating beast which ups the jack factor whilst maintaining a slow tempo. to round things off label boss ooft! pulls this sound into solid deep house territory with a smoother mix which still contains some serious bottom-end.

seiji – the much-lauded and respected producer from west london – returns with the penultimate part of his 2010-launched seiji series. having successfully explored a career path thats established him as a founding member of broken beat originators bugz in the attic, a key artist for the seminal jungle/d n b label reinforced, a downbeat solo artist for sonar kollectiv and a producer and co-writer for the brilliant roisin murphy, in 2011 seiji is a man focused squarely on the dancefloor. the seiji series is just one part of that with seiji stripping things right back, identifying each release with a simple number and putting all his energy into creating music that he truly believes in. a merging of sounds and influences that have always been with him, but have never sounded so right – encapsulating everything thats exciting about the underground uk scene at the moment. as with the previous two releases, seiji 4 is a double a-side focusing on the current uk house sound, a bit soulful, a bit funky a bit jacking, with two solid heavy grooves that are going to work on any house dance floor. no other has a really soulful vocal sample, a rolling reese bass riff and percussive uk house beats. easy is more of an infectious skippy house groove with a chunky bass hook and deep techno pads

the three tracker gets off with a lovely post basic channel, dub techno interpretation of a techno track for the warmer days. the b side does a great job in fusing soft beats and low key melodies with raw structure,drive and pressure. plangent records slowly becomes the face for the otherside of berlin techno together with a label such as giegling. gritty deep techno, with some influences from dubstep here and there... slowly moving away from the much abused detroit reference. definitely worth the listen!

kapitel 2, and once everything is new! the collaboration of talented young producers and skilled heroes of the scene provides a colorful picture of the current sound development of the label in 2011. between tempo throttled, acid infected dancefloorkillers of l kubic and old school groove monsters of tokra thaan in a remix of james flavour up to grinding minimal beats with hypnotic-flashing sounds of trockensaft, to chameleon tracks from swen weber, which welcomes you with a dancehall impregnated beat in a 4/4 beat corset, which is ironed in the course of its construction and stay suddenly like a stomping and snorting steam train in the ear canal. and if then hardy hard mates early nineties rave influences with house vocals and flat-fuzz comes with a ghostly- kicking sampletrack around the corner which is just as hip hop as electro, it is clear, that these pieces are absolute killers of their guild, from the first to the last track, and each of them is conspicuous by its own distinctive aesthetic. originality is all

the fried tofu crew follow up their excellent first course with another tasty selection! on the a-side sweet soulful voices catch you from the first try on. but dont be hasty, or you will burn your tongue. this is hot and far from being a dessert. after the first impression of sweetness, you will feel the spicy taste coming through. we all love that slight burning on the lips, making you really feel the feel. the first cut on the b-side digs even deeper into sweetness. somehow everything seems to be so lovely, each time this one is played out. its clear that even the ruff guys cant resist the taste of honey. real sweet and spicy, thats how its got to be. things are straightened out on the final cut, which finishes off the meal with a raw funk jam. the extended guitar groove gets back to the basics. sometimes few essential things, combined in the right way, can be all you need. a typical mistake when preparing a meal is to add too many different spices.

deep a & biri return to rotary cocktail with their >hybrid lava< ep. on the a side, they bring us a deep raw track which takes you on many twists and turns. what starts as a lush beauty builds into a raw energetic monster. as the synth mid bass kick in the tracks takes on entirely new energy. a nod to the old school, but with a fresh twist.

dj deep is know as one of the key players in the french house and techno scene for many years now! recently he found some old recordings on dat tapes. going through these tapes he heard several tracks that somehow still sounded fresh!. after listening he got fascinated. he describes some of the cuts as raw and somehow naive tracksand as something naive, authentic and honest. so here we are... with a nice piece of wax that has 2 great tracks produced around 1994-1997, and 2 solid 2011 remixes. rootstrax comes with an excellent mix that is an emotional deep take that really captures the emotion of the original and brings it to a much more mature and deep territory. the marcelus mix gives us a much more radical, uncompromising techno interepretation. another stunner on deeply rooted house!!

brillant moving beats from myown on anton zap label

the partnership between artists john selway and dave turov spans not only across the atlantic, but it has also resulted in a series of successful colla-borations on their label csm. the debut release on the interpull imprint showcases their signature no-nonsense, dance? oriented techno. expanding on their previous work, >choo got it ep< carries with it a modern take of classic in? uences from chicago, detroit, and berlin. this release is marked by just as much stylistic skill as it is by their technical skill: both selway and turov put the highest production values possible into their releases. the a-side of the ep, >choo got it<, grooves hard with an upbeat rhythm and a bouncing bass line that refuses to let up. combining funky house elements and a raw driving techno pace, this is the kind of track that either gets you on the dancefloor doesnt let you off once you hear it go on. the b-side, >way to my heart<, presents a darker take on the ep with plentiful bass and restless energy. it provides a cavernous sound thats happy to shake your techno cathedral of choice

aah, how we have missed them! the fine young gentlemen that are channel x, two of stil vor talents most active producers of meticulously crafted and deeply energetic tech-house smash hits. and just in time for the open-air season they now come back with two very convincing pieces of dancefloor art. first up is >little symphony<, an epic space opera that takes it cues from early 90s techno and mixes it up with post-modern grooves and beats. the wide and open spaces are filled with some very hymnal string patterns that are given a final treatment with a reverbed and high-pitched vocal sample. contrast that with the rather jittery beat and a subbass as deep as the frequencies will go and you got yourself a substantially clear bit of techno that is best imagined when it is dark and only some beams of air tell you where you are. channel x do not produce, they direct and all of the sounds are their actors! on the flip things get more light-hearted and set for the daylight hours as well. >steamboat willie< is a heavily sample-orientated swinging piece of jack. the rhythm guitar lead the way on top of a clap-based loop that sets the basis for some very jazzy interpretations along the way. clarinets, trumpets, percussions, brass, effects and even some talking vocal samples are all allowed to join in this hedonistic big band that is at play. this is one for the sunshine, this is one for the smiles on the faces, this is one to feel instantly good about yourself and everything around you. two very different tracks on this ep, but both equally stand out for themselves

dark and dirty , raw analogue feel

we present you the newly born imprint outernational recordings. the kick off for this unique vinyl series is by basque county native kastil who sets the right tone with three wonderful disco edits at a mid-tempo / slomo pace. since uploading these tracks to his soundcloud page, the feedback has been enormous. side a contains the long, slow and loopy back to philadelphia, where kastil cleverly plays with the vocals and delay and creates a highly tense build up. theres no doubt that some large players in the very popular disco edit culture will play this one out. on the b1 side you find the track smd. a track which received great feedback by some key figures on soundcloud. this track is the ultimate pre-lude for the summer. fortunately, this is being released just early enough to enjoy this during the european and northern american summer. with again beautiful vocals floating through the track, this track definitely reminds one of a hot day in the local park. the b2 track is called rolls royce. perfect as the last track of this release since its a long edit which ends with a very atmospheric piano solo that keeps on floating through the last few minutes of the track. all and all, these edits will definitely make some heads turn after the date of release. supported by: cosmic boogie, dicky trisco, the legendary 1979 orchestra, sleazy beats recordings, ben la desh, 78 edits, osvaldo wilson, mannmademusic, gitchell moore

following vincenzos incredible wherever i lay my head longplayer, weve got more delights in store with this single including remixes from jimpster and the retro-tastic tuff city kids. seduction is the outcome of vincenzo teaming up with brazilian artist diogo accioly of talking props. the expertly crafted original version of seduction is included here in all its bright and airy glory. the master of subtle chord changes, captivating song-writing and bright, glistening production, we are treated to an extended version of vincenzos future classics! one of the uks most distinguished house activists, jimpster takes the reins in an easy going and summery modern chicago-style jam. raw drums and modulating bass drive this summery yet melancholic re-think. opening up the synths and reverb channels, jimpster introduces flourishes of effected vocals as he leads us deep into his swirling audio world

pattern select aka milton jackson and show-b have gone well and truly back to the raw on this, their first collaborative work together and debut ep for delusions of grandeur. both producers have been busy on some top quality projects just recently with milton jackson remixing recloose for planet e and show b producing for robert owens on compost. the pair met at a party in munich, promptly fell in love, and soon enough pattern select was born. kicking off tale of the tape sees the pair go deep n dark on this low-slung groove where demonic laughter rides the driving hats and insesant crashes until the filtering arpeggiated synth line joins the fun. tale of the dub gives us a stripped back, dub-infused version which goes a little lighter on the craziness of the first version but without losing any of the deep, hypnotic funk.

following his two recent singles on scubas hotflush recordings, london based george fitzgerald is back with his much-anticipated third release and his debut for aus music. titled silhouette, the three-track ep includes two originals and a remix from american producer john roberts. fitzgerald once again manages to create a world in which garage, dubstep, house, r&b and a host of other musical influences happily co-exist. on silhouette hints of warm acid, layered oscillating synth lines, propulsive beats and fitzgeralds signature use of vocal samples make this a peak time affair, albeit an incredibly lush one. reset is eight minutes of forward thinking uk garage combined with the melodic sensibilities of detroit techno. for the silhouette remix, roberts develops a relentless broken groove, occasionally punctured by brief piano interludes that recall the sounds of his 2011 debut full-length on dial records, glass eights. a breathtaking remix that sounds like nothing else out there at the moment. in addition to silhouette, fitzgerald currently has remixes out for french house producer brawther on secretsundaze and uk bass artist throwing snow, as well as an upcoming ep on hotflush and a track on the labels recent compilation, back and 4th. this year will also bring the founding of man make music, a new label fitzgerald is starting with friends.

dark and raw undereground techno

as the producer responsible for some of lil b and soulja boys weirdest, most inventive beats, and following on from a critically acclaimed, self released mixtape of instrumentals collected from his work over the years with various forward thinking hip hop artists, tri angle is very excited to announce the release of >rainforest<, the debut ep by clams casino. the five songs that make up >rainforest< find clams casino (aka 23 year old new jersey native, michael volpe) refining his ethereal, otherworldly sound, whilst taking it to a heavier and more intense extreme. what has set clams casino apart from most other hip hop producers is his skill in making records that sound just as good, if not better, instrumentally as they do with vocals, and if anyone needed it, >rainforest< represents the confirmation of this. its a record drenched in mysterious atmospherics, like a foggy memory of a far off exotic place, the details buried beneath the mist of distortion, but present nonetheless. none of the songs on >rainforest< have ever been released before, and in contrast to most of his other productions these songs have always existed purely as instrumentals, free of any vocal presence. >rainforest< is an incredibly powerful release which signals the beginning of clams casino coming into his own and operating as an important artist in his own right

ryo murakami, labelowner of panrecords releases a new 4 track ep that contains a remix of lunch of god by stereociti (mojuba /from tokyo) which has a deeply atmosphere. next track is very deep and has slowly beats its a very dub track from start to end. the last track has a synth phrase and some voice left to the head is impressive.

with its corroded, live recorded sound and relentless machinedrum, le coq is a trip to the shadowy, not to say drunk side of dance music. as an acid statement this track is right on the money without ever submitting to any ground rules of vintage acid. truly envelope-pushing electronic wizardry with a dark edge. stripped down to a bare minimum, the flip side hollywood goblin evokes the linear pulse of early body music, while the lead synthesizer adds a touch of cabaret voltairesque arpeggio magic. universal rejection was established in stockholm, sweden in 2011. the label is the collective effort of a closed circle of friends sharing the vision of a parallel universe trough raw, down to the core electronic dancemusic. every new release is a code. it represents a piece of what universal rejection is, and proves that the label will be in constant flux while at the same time always remaining true to itself.

pursuit grooves releases her solo full length cd entitled >frantically hopeful< this summer on tectonic. the album continues rhythmically where last years >fox trot mannerisms< ep left off, but launches into a different head space with lyrics touching on current affairs and technological dependency. juggling all angles from production, songwriting, mcing and singing, pursuit grooves continues what she does best, fusing elements of hip hop, house and broken beats with sensual melodies and vocals. preceeding the release of the the cd-only 11 track set is this limited run vinyl ep, presenting six of the album’s more floor-friendly tunes.

>dysfunction<, hannulelauris first ep on i m a cliche goes beyond the dreamy, cosmic atmosphere of their previous releases and remixes on other eurodisco labels. the duos new sound still sends us floating but with an edgier, more toxic ride. hannu and lauri aka hannulelauri created a track for i m a cliche, a remix of botoxs hit >blue steel<. this track inspired the label to make more room for the finnish duo and bring their new music into its discography.
